Maybe rhythm isn't one of Al's stronger points.
Nah, it's just weird you can hardly hear his guitar at all. |
Death to the sound guy then. I hate when they mess up the mix. I've seen countless bands that sound great normally, end up sounding like shit thanx to the asshole sitting behind the mixing board.
You mean the Greatist hits cd?
I bought it for the DVD but it sucks cos you can't hear Marty's leads in places and his guitar's too quiet.
Yeah I watched the DVD. You can't even hear Marty's solos in Holy Wars, it's like Dave played that entire song by himself. |
Hey lightning metal.
I got Peace Sells...But Who's Buying! uploaded. EDIT: Oooops. No uploads, kinda forgot. I'll send you it now if you didnt get that. |
Hey thanx man. Not that I don't support Dave or Megadeth, but unlike Dave I am very, very broke.
|
Does anyone here know how Dave gets his tone in Take No Prisoners? I only have Bass Mid and Treble and I have the BOSS Metal Zone if it helps.
|
I know that thrash in general you've gotta scoop the mids out. Dave sound like (if he was using a parametric eq) he'd take his mids to 0, I usually put treble to 6 and the bass is cranked. Those are just my interpretation of the thrash tone, not necessarily Daves'.

Dave uses more mids than you'd think. For TNP, I set my EQ to: Low: 5 Mid: 6 High: 7 Gain: 7 |
Yea, but for a tone like Countdown or Youthanasia those mids are definitely scooped.
|

Ehh kinda. But I'd venture to say their still higher than most metal bands would like them to be. |
Ehh kinda. But I'd venture to say their still higher than most metal bands would like them to be.
Well yea more than these piece of crap "metalcore" bands. I can get a great Youthanasia-like tone from my 5150 with the mids at 2-3 suprisingly. |
I read an interview and Mustaine said he always plays with high mids, so who knows.
Hi everyone, been a while since I posted in here. |
Rust In Peace certainly sounds like high mids.
|
Yeah, he's got a middy tone without too much bass. I usually prefer it that way, so you can distinguish the bass, but the bass is buried pretty deep in most of their songs.
|
Just because I'm so excited right now: I just ordered my DV8-R. A nice silver one. WOOOT! God I'm stoked.
|
Cool, I've thought about getting an ESP one for a while now... though I think I'm going to get a Carvin now.
|
I was thinking about getting a Black DV8 but I decided to save up for a KE3
|
Has anyone tried out the new axxion guitar? It looks really cool but I want to know if it plays as good as it looks. (unlike bc rich warlocks)
|
I was thinkin about buying a DV8 until I played a Dean Custom 450.
Best 600 bucks I ever spent :D |
I bought a line 6 spider II new and I had a chance to get a huge carvin amp for the same price ($299) used. I'm thinking I might've made a bad choice but then again maybe not. Anyways, has anyone seen a DV8 with a floyd rose? I want the DV8 badly but I can't stand fixed bridges. (I guess I'm just too bar happy.)
|
There is no DV8 with a Floyd. Closest you could come would be a KV2 or a used KV4.
I think you should've gone with the Carvin... because I'm very disappointed with my Spider II. Way too bassy, with any EQ really. Very muddy. I hear the Axxion plays really nice, and I've heard its got the best high fret access of pretty much any guitar out there. Though I haven't played one. Or a DV8-R for that matter. |
Spider II's are decent if you have cab in my opinion. The combos arent all that good by themselves.
|
did anybody know that dave mustaine might be leaving megadeth?
|
did anybody know that dave mustaine might be leaving megadeth?
Yes we all knew that. I think he'll keep going with Megadeth for at least Gigantour 2. While we're on the subject of guitars, I might be getting a Jackson JS30KV in about 10 hours. Anybody have experience with this guitar? |

he will decide on October 9th, i think. |

I'm thinking of getting the combo. Are you sure that it's not all that great? |
I'm thinking of getting the combo. Are you sure that it's not all that great?
Its average. You'd be better off with a Randall SS if you are gonna go solid state. But who knows you might like the Spider II. Try it out somewhere. |
Well, yeah. For $600-700 i'd expect it to be average.
|
For 600-700 bucks you could also try and find a used tube combo amp.
|
You could do much better for 600-700. I don't know where you got that number from though, the 212 is 500. You could always buy my 210 if you like Spiders...
While we're on the subject of guitars, I might be getting a Jackson JS30KV in about 10 hours. Anybody have experience with this guitar?
No, but its pretty low end. Probably not really worth it, depending your reasons for buying it. I'd at least get the KVX10, but your best bet for an affordable V is the DV8-R. |
