Technically speaking, Opeth's music isn't very difficult at all. Actually, they play rather simple stuff. Their talent lies in the songwriting. It's extremely difficult to compose songs that are that long and manage to keep them memorable and interesting. Opeth can do that as second nature. I personally cannot stand A7X. Their music is very generic, uninteresting, and I fail to see why they are noted for their technical skill. I've heard some songs by them and found them incredibly bad.
And judging by the songs on that site, he doesn't know the first **** thing about technical skill. Oh Jesus, that was bad. Their singer should be shot repeatedly, and the drumming was nothing. |
Wow, you should take that Opeth avatar down right now.
I think I'll keep it actually. :p Bleak is a good track. I just think that some of the first lines with the clean vocals (Mike or Steve) sound really bad... the middle section is nice, and the parts with the growls are awesome, but I don't care for about 5 min of the song, so yeah. The Leper Affinity > Bleak. :D |
uh, all 5 speak good english, but I assume they just talk Sweish with eachtother. I mean if you went on tour, wouldn't you speak you r own language too?
when adressing the crowd it's different though
Is Peter Swedish? For some reason unbenounced to me I always thought he was English or something. |

They're all from Sweden. |

When I go to my Window Media Player, and look at the play count for that song, it's 237. That's just on my computer :amaze: That song NEVER gets old. |
Every time I listen to that song, I hear something new in it...it'll take me a while to get tired of that song.
|
*finally listened to Blackwater Park yesterday*
Is it just me, or is Bleak one of the best songs ever made? |

Is it just me, or is Bleak one of the best songs ever made?
Its a really good song, but I dont think it was the best ever made. I cant wait until tomorrow after school. Im going to my local cd store and getting the new Opeth album as well as a few others. |

Is it just me, or is Bleak one of the best songs ever made?
It is. And it's not even Opeth's best song. My favorite is Face of Melinda....OMG. Bleak, The Drapery Falls, The Moor, To Bid You Farewell, Isolation Years, Death Whispered a Lullaby, and maybe a couple others are way up there too. Time to listen to Face of Melinda, again. |
To Bid You Farewell was one of the first Opeth songs I ever heard, so I have a bit of a soft spot for it... I love that track :)
|
Black Rose Immortal is still my favorite, with Bleak, Godhead's Lament, April Ethereal and Harlequin Forest rounding out the top 5.

Nothing beats the harmonization in the verse. |

I agree man, that song is just too good. The acoustic melodies, the dual guitar rhythms, vocals, absolutely brilliant. |

I could never decide an all-time favorite Opeth song. It changes regularly. Right now, I'd probably say 'White Cluster'.
