They'll ask you for an interview, I was offered AAB, they gave one of my friends ABB, but usually it's just the standard university offer.

They let me in with BBB in Maths, Physics and History. There was a 10% drop in applicants last year though.

The interview isnt that bad, they'll have a bunch of people, start with a buffet lunch, couple of talks, tour the department, back in to talk to students and things, take so many people at a time for the interviews. You'll probably get to meet some of the people off our social committee, 'cause we're cool kids! They'll drag at least 2 of the 5 first year girls down as well.

The interviews arent anything tricky, they might ask you questions, but they dont expect you to have a huge bank of knowledge already, they'll ask you about your A levels, what you think you'll get, why you chose Manchester, what programming experience you have (that's only for reference), why you chose the course etc.

I had some guy that talked to me about violins and I play bass guitar and saxophone...
The thing is Highers are classed Differently to A Levels, so I don't actually know what I need.

Untitled 01-16-2007 05:50 PM
Yeh, that's the problem one of the girls is having, she's doing a foundation but she cant afford to live here so she's back and forth.

The Met halls are pretty dire, but it's all about the experience really :)

I need to start looking for a house for next year. Not fun at all.
Who is it? i might now them

And it depends with halls, the Cambridge halls look nice, i want to go in them halls, and there 2 minutes from my building.

fortyseven 01-16-2007 05:57 PM

Sorry kid!

Might be worth applying anyone as a long shot? Worst they can say is no...

Dead Star 01-16-2007 06:02 PM

I'll probably apply to most Unis anyway heh.

Untitled 01-16-2007 06:06 PM

If you apply threw UCAS you can only apply to 6.

I'd agree with this, the amount of people taking physical sciences beyond compulsory schooling has dropped yet again, and this has a knock on effect on the kind of grades you need to get onto Uni courses where subjects like Chemistry and Physics are preferred.

Dead Star, what subjects are you doing and what grades are you predicted? That might be helpful for looking at courses and stuff.

I just phoned up the number that, I thought, was the right one. To see about getting the tax back that is being taken off me. It turns out it was the wrong number. The woman on the other end was nasty. Stupid whore  I asked her if she knew what number I should call, she gave me one but it's not a real number   grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Those aren't bad grades, there are quite a few decent unis you could get into with grades like that. Obviously not the most prestigious ones, but you shouldn't do badly.
