You should boil them every once in a while Butler, it gives them a nice new-sounding tone.
I could probably do with boiling mine this weekend.
I do, but its not the same as that brand new sound, the first time maybe, but the 2nd or 3rd dosnt work too good ive found.

Guys...when you find the right gift...money is no object right?

So how much should I expect to spend on 2 tickets to a soldout show that were $25 to begin with? :-\

Depends on the band.

A lot of bands we look on Ebay for are origonaly £20 for 2 tickets, but go up to £50ish, so id say the price will properly double.

bottlerocket 02-02-2006 03:51 PM

Boiling actually makes your strings frailer and weaker, from what I've read...

...but don't listen to me; I'm just the bass forum mod.

I sparked a bass discussion now.

Vince: If you can get the tickets and its a gift for someone special, do whatever you can...if you can't get them, no big deal. I'm sure they'll understand.

Haha, well it's a local band playing in their hometown, except they're big. The show is over 1 month away though and it's already sold out so I'm nervous as hell :(

$100 is a lot of money but this gift would be soooo worth it. There's 2 listings for them right now, both @ $41 for the 2, but 6 days left :(

Gav: I've heard the same but I'm not a bassist so I figured I was just wrong.

But yeah, they're for my gf for V-day and she loves this band. Like in an ungodly "you're not allowed to talk when their music is on" way.

Untitled 02-02-2006 03:52 PM

Ive spoke more about bass in this one page then i have in the bass forum this year :-/, ah well, i actully know crap all thats usefull.

Dead Star 02-02-2006 04:09 PM

So I've just sat for about 2 hours cleaning out a cupboard.

Hurrah for moving.

Yay, Jamie has moved!

I had a pretty fun day. I got to sleep in, somewhat, Alex came over and we played some Need For Speed:Most Wanted, then we watched my favourite movie ever, The Butterfly Effect. Pretty interesting day.

The OC tonight! :p

True, but it gets a nice sound for a while until you can afford a new set of strings. That's just my opinion anyway.

Sounds great. :p

Butler: I see you're posting there again. :D

What show?

I never really got into modern video games...anything N64 and before that was awesome (SNES, NES, Genesis, Game Boy, etc.) was awesome but PS2 and all that...eh...not a big fan. It's OK, but people but so much emphasis on graphics and ignore game content.

Halo is pretty sweet, though.

That's the sound of your testicles falling off and ovaries growing inside you. :)

No, I'm kidding...but I never got into the OC. I watched it and I felt like I was in a coma.

Yeah, you definitely get that "new string" sound, but don't do it on strings like Elixers that are coated...and don't do it more than once. They become really brittle. The "new string" sound only lasts for a few days, too, and then they begin to deaden quickly.

Im watching a show on the Challanger space ship blowing up, and how people thaught it would happen, like enginers and stuff, but they sent it up.

Well, I have a whole box to myself, and I'm not a huge fan of Kraft Dinner. But I need to feed myself somehow. I've had pizza pockets everyday this week, so I need to stop eating them.

Dude, I haven't eaten lunch since sophomore year (I'm a senior)...I skip lunch every day because I have so much homework and it sucks because my house NEVER has any food.

I'm doing a lab report for chem now...

I swear, I am the busiest kid I know. :(

Truth.

When I saw Whole Wheat Bread last weekend, two ska bands played. It was mad fun.

I passed up a Toasters show last Sunday, and now I wish I hadn't. :(

I usually make a sandwich everyday for lunch. I had pizza pockets for lunch today. I had 4 of them for dinner last night.

I have no homework. I probably won't for a good 2 weeks because Semester 2 starts on Monday.

Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of the Toasters. But that would still be totally awesome. Especially because with ska headliners, most the kids there are into ska.

Damn straight. SM is still the best show I've ever been to.

Adios Gav.

I hate trying to explain to computer illiteate people how to bloody work things.

My mate just came on MSN, asking how to put songs onto his MP3 player.

I mean, seriously.

Also, asta Gav.

Last night I was watching tv and I switched channels to see what was on and it was the Gilmore Girls, i'm sure Matt was loving it. Anyway they mentioned Greg Ginn from Black Flag and Bad Religion and I couldn't believe my ears. I LOL'd then changed the channel.

I'm not into them that much either, which is why I didn't go. I still wish I would have though.

I was wearing my Streetlight Manifesto shirt today, and this one kid was completely shocked that I liked ska. He made some comment about how "there were two of us now," which is funny, because I was pretty much thinking the same thing.
