Well it's one of the ones I've listened to so far, and it's actually pretty good. I suppose I should give you the rest now (though I was kind of using this as an excuse to stay up longer, listening to the Beatles). Give me a minute.
Pretty good? I'll try and remember to ask you to ysi me a song when you're back at uni :)

Bartender 03-29-2005 08:40 PM
I'm going to pick up that Beck album.
I kind of bought it by accident. I'll go fetch the story from an Alt/Indie thread.

Well if you like punk, yeah. Considering it manages to stay undeniably a punk album, they get a surprising number of styles into the album, so I'm not sure if just one uploaded song would be good enough..

I think the vocals would be the sticking point for most people. They're very grating, and kinda unique. I like them, though they sometimes annoyed me, and I can imagine many might find them annoying :-/
A new release (Guero) is kind of unusual for me. I kind of bought it by accident, actually. I picked it up from a display on the wall, and re-installing it in this display proved difficult, so I figured it was easier to just buy the thing, rather than wrestling with putting it back.
Tell me what you think of The Bends. It has some great tracks on it.

Well I like Rancid and The clash and such, but I hate Opeth, so it depends on vocal style but usually I'm ok with punk vocals.

I will. I got it in a three for £20 thing, with Costello and Ba Ba Ti Ki Di Do; one of my other options was Hail to the Thief. Do you think I made the right choice (bearing in mind it took me ages, years, to get into Radiohead, and I only own OK Computer so far)?

They're the kind more associated with hardcore punk, I think, but like I say, kind of unique. They're grating (only word I can think of to describe them), and with not much variation at all. I think they're mostly great, though, so hopefully others will too.

I love them both. If you want, I can send you Hail to the Theif? It wouldn't be a problem.

ATM 03-29-2005 08:52 PM

Bartender, do you like Air? I just started listening to them rescently and they are really good.

I like hardcore too. Bad Brains took me awhile to get into, but they're good, and new hardcore is great.

I'm not much of a fan of just owning albums digitally, and anyway, I have a couple of dozen albums to work through as it is :-/

I'm also on a 56K at the moment..so many reasons not to. Thanks for the offer though, much appreciated :)

No problem. But do yourself a favor and pick it up when you get a chance.

I think there's differences between hardcore and hardcore punk :-/ But then, I doubt they reside in the vocals, so who cares. I'll get a couple of tracks to you anyway, if either of us remembers when I get back to University.

I don't think I've ever heard them (not knowingly, anyway). I've seen threads about them before though, and I think Scott Herren (the MXican, not the actual guy) likes them, so that's usually reason enough for me to check them out. What kind of music?

ATM 03-29-2005 08:57 PM

I've got loads of Bad Brains mp3s if anyone wants me to YSI something.

They are mellow/electronic. Very, very good. I downloaded an album from Dancin' Man and I can't stop listening to it.

Meh...maybe. Either way sounds good, I'll have to remember to ask :)

Cool, well I'll have to remember to check them out sometime. Thanks.

Anyway, I'm happy with my purchases, and off to bed (or at least The Simpsons)..finally :) See you all tomorrow.
