Derek Trucks and Robert Randolph spring to mind.
Anyone who doesn't appreciate the greatness of Derek Trucks obviously has no soul and/or is an alien spy.
Anybody here like the early prog Genesis? ive really been getting into them, I finnaly got around to buying The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway and im amazed.
I'd like to hear Selling England by the Pound or whatever it's called, but I haven't heard anything I don't think.

Just a random thought.

I've been meaning to get into prog Genesis. Peter Gabriel and Genesis = sweet. Phil Collins = not so much.

The Smashing Pumpkins broke up a while ago, as did Rage Against The Machine, but those are also two of my favorite modern rock bands. Of course, I love Radiohead, Sigur Ros, The Mars Volta, Avenged Sevenfold, the Chilis, Tool, Fugazi....a lot of modern stuff, really.
My dad got to see the Allmans when Duane was alive
Give him access to your account and let him post a complete play by play on what happened. I want to know what notes Duane played, what direction Duane's sweat fell in and whether he had that huge beard or not.

My dad's seen the Allmans like a handful of times, I don't know when he saw them first though. It was definitely after Duane died though, my dad was only like a freshman in highschool when Duane died.
my dad saw the original mahavishnu orchestra.
Oh yea, well my dad saw Larry Carlton open for Kenny Loggins.

/weird

Ok, everyone post concerts their father has been too!

MidnightRider 01-06-2006 09:23 PM

My dad saw The Grateful Dead 7 times and The Who twice!

magicbus 01-06-2006 09:25 PM

My dad's been to Jeff Beck, Buddy Guy, the Allman Bros., and a lot of other stuff like The Eagles and Jackson Browne.

And Santana and SRV.

Glitterati 01-06-2006 09:26 PM

OMFG

http://imdb.com/title/tt0418279/

I found that and just had to post it...sorry :upset:

My mom saw Stevie Ray Vaughan opening for Dire Straits. Beat that.

jpj 01-06-2006 09:27 PM

Let's see, he saw the Dead in '81, Floyd on the Pulse tour, Al DiMeola twice, Steely Dan a few times, Santana with Jeff Beck, either Satch or Vai I can't remember which, maybe both, The Band in '76, the year he planned on seeing Zeppelin was the year Plant was in that bad wreck. Oh, and The Who + Jason Bonham.

Plus tons of others that haven't come up in conversation yet.

You should try Jack Johnson.
A lot of people think he's real sappy, but he actually writes some good lyrics, and can certainly weave together some nice guitar. Definitley a mellow guy, and can craft a solid pop, rock, or surf song.

jpj 01-06-2006 09:29 PM

Yea, Jack Johnson is pretty good. Very relaxing.

I was thinking about doing a thread about him, but I could never find the time. I don't think many people would post in it unless it was a featured-artist esque info thread.

I like Jack Johnson.

If James Taylor did surf music, it'd sound like Jack Johnson.

jpj 01-06-2006 09:33 PM

James Taylor is such a pussy.

I prefer Jack's voice, but Taylor's isn't too bad. Jack also generally does a lot more upbeat material. Cat Stevens and James Taylor are comparable though.

jpj 01-06-2006 09:37 PM

Cat Stevens has a great voice. Peace Train has got to be one of the happiest songs of all time.

What the hell was the deal with him getting deported or something? I never got the whole story behind that.

Something about getting involved/donating money to (a) terrorist organization(s).

And James Taylor is not a pussy

I don't like James Taylor. I find his voice pretty stupid.

Climb up on the Peace Train W-ooo wooo wooooOOOH! Definitley a good one.

All I really know is that he was on the no-fly list. He is a muslim, but that doesn't make him a terrorist. THE MAN SINGS PEACE TRAIN!!!!

My dad was a Dead Head. He saw them over 30 times he said. He's seen lots of people though..

His first concert was a Beach Boys concert.

I love BB single's, so naturally I want to pick up Pet Sounds. Apparently, they have released a lot of other material that's trash though. I thnik my CD reveiw book would be able to weed out the good from the bad though. :/
