Yeah that will probally be my next cd purchase. I agree with the Rainbow concert I wish there was more jamming. With so many great musicians playing that night an extended jam could have been amazing. Not to say the album isn't bad, I think Clapton's playing is great, I just wish there was more of it.
Yeah I think Clapton plays great but I would have loved to see like a half hour jam. I wish Ron Wood and Clapton traded off a few solos and Steve Winwood was more active on organ. I love the concert, but with that kind of talent, a long all-out jam would just be awesome. I really like Billy Breathes. All I have by Phish is that and Lawn Boy and they're both great. Lawn Boy is probably a little more consistent but Billy Breathes is really good too. I used to have A Live One which was awesome but accidentally deleted it from my computer:angry: I should get more Phish. The Trooper is a great song. I don't own any Iron Maiden albums, but my brother has a few that I listen to. |
I like Maiden.
you know whos underrated? Bruce Springsteen. Born To Run is one of the greatest albums of all time. The songs Born to Run and Jungleland are just epic. |

omg  we were just discussing Springsteen a few days ago. Only a few of us turned out to like him. Born To Run = epic. |
Just because we never talk about him in here doesn't mean he's underrated. He gets enough attention....
Cockfight Champion: Go away. I swear I've told more people to go away in the last few days than I ever have. Glad to see you back, Pigsonthewing. |
I know PF is a huge fan of it. I remember him saying that it is the best Clapton playing he has ever heard multiple times. I really want it, and I really should buy it because I see it in Coconuts all the time but it's always like 30 bucks. I should just spend the money and get it though.
its the best playing ive heard clapton do. seriously. he rips it up. and there's plenty of long jams to enjoy. great album. definitely an essential. cockfight champion: it annoys me though. like when people say fark, though that might just be an aussie thing. i have brave new world, death on the road, iron maiden, killers, live after death, piece of mind, powerslave, somewhere in time, and number of the beast. so take that! and piece of mind is where its at. |

I think that makes 3-4 of us now. All of Springsteen's albums from his debut to The River are excellent. I can't pick a favorite. Born to Run is a great album though. Then Born in the USA is a pretty solid album too, but just doesn't compare to his prior albums. He's only released one really bad album in his whole career though (Lucky Town). I'm pretty fortunate that my parents are huge Springsteen fans and have multiple copies of all his releases. My parents even got to see him live a few times, including once from the second row. |
^^Make that 4-5 of us. I love Bruce. The man is a classic american songwriter and performer not in the tradition of the greatest ever, but amongst the greatest ever. Soulful, inspired, rockin' and thoughful all at the same time, he has it all. A commanding stage presence that few can match, and a concert performer that upon seeing him will change your idea of what good rock n roll is and can be, I really cannot say enough about how I feel about him. His work has touched me on a very deep level that only a handful of other performers/songwriters have been able to equally do. And as corny as it sounds, I am truly grateful for it.

Yeah I need to see him live. My parents talk about how amazing he was all the time. I was alive the last time they went too, but only like 5 years old so they didn't take me:angry: He'll be touring again in a couple years hopefully. I missed him this last one. Do you have the new Born to Run 30th Anniversary Edition? If not, I'd highly recommend it, it comes with a 2 and a half hour DVD performance from '75 that is just awesome. Bruce was a legendary performer. I found it for 30 bucks too, which was a pretty good deal. It also has a documentary of the making of the album which was pretty cool too. Good stuff. |
I'm sort of a Bruce fan. living near Philadelphia, and going to the Jersey shore every summer, it's hard not to like him. Everyone one around, including radio stations, are such huge fans that I've had an oppurtunity to hear a good portion of his catalog w/o ever buying an album of his.

I like Bruce. I haven't picked up any of his cds, but he is on the classic rock channel on digital cable a lot and from what I've heard from there hes pretty good. Whats a good place to start with him I should pick up one of his cds

I've spent the last 24 hours downloading and converting a Cream bootleg from Detroit in '67 and I'm going to be sending it out. Get your inboxes ready!

And hey same with the Boss, who could hate the Boss he's the Boss no one could dislike the Boss. If you dislike the Boss theres something wrong with you, the Boss is perfect. |

I wasn't so sure at first, since I own his entire catalogue. But PBS had a pledge drive a couple of weeks ago and Bruce let them use about an hour of the '75 concert footage and some excerpts from the Wings For Wheels documentary and now I am convinced. Really good stuff. And the live stuff is amazing. Skinny little Bruce in that big wool hat. And man, the band was stylish, weren't they? In those hats. Especially Little Steven and The Big Man. They showed Thunder Road, Tenth Anenue Freeze Out, Jungleland, Backstreets, Sandy, Born To Run, Rosalita, A Quarter to Three, and a few others. I taped it. I can't wait to see the rest. |
No worries mate. :thumb: I talk how I talk. You can call it retarded if you want, but anyone calls the way I talk retarded can expect a few jabs back. I like a lot of Bruce Springsteen, even the some of the cheesy Born In The USA stuff. He's not in the league of Waits and Dylan as far as storytelling goes but he's way above 98% of all the other cats that have written rock songs. Steve Earle is right up there too, probably getting more towards country territory than classic rock though. |

NP: Cream - Tales of Brave Ulysses
I think one of my friends had that one, or at least one from 1967, it was pretty good. Just the other day I got a Cream bootleg from MSG on the night I saw them in October, brings back a lot of good memories. |

In my opinion Born To Run is a good place to start. Then work back to his first two albums to understand where he came from and forward to understand where he was going. That's how I did it. Got Born To Run, and then just took in everything from his first album to Nebraska. In no particular order. |
