There's a mix of old and new houses around here, but yeah, nothing cheap around these parts.
|
of course, the larger your deposit to begin with, the less the loan will cost
|
True enough. Not like I can afford much of anything though at the moment.

I wish I was seeing them. Pino is a mad dog.
I don't think I like this Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. On a side note, those hairless cats are disgusting. |

that was epic, swaim is lol
|
He looks like a prick but he does funny articles.
|
So I'm pretty bored, what's doing fellas?
|
just downloaded The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails in V0 and comparing it to the shitty 128 kbps rip i've had for years. No wonder I never liked it much, lol. Still my attention diverts after the fifth song.
|
Yeah it's a shame. I had this cool Incubus song off the Spawn soundtrack or something and it was like 24kbps or something.
Getting this new printer soon, should be epic. Then I'm hitting up a new soundcard, and soon after that you guys will be able to get a new Tiger Panic album. It'll be real good. Gonna re-release the old ones with better audio quality too. All 3 will be available as a set for you savvy shoppers. |
I've had Inumeri sitting in my download folder waiting to be listened to so long that I can't even remember getting it, or when I got it...
Yeah, I have been slowly replacing my old, poor-quality rips, I tend to get V2 over V0 because they're smaller and I can't hear a difference. Although I do have new speakers, so I might have to test my hearing on them... |
so i wake up just now feeling majorly sick.
i'm gonna make everyone at the who sick. |
I'm paying 350 a week on a 220K loan.
Am doing it comfortably too. Homes for half a mil is too much. Especially if all you're looking for is the standard 3 bedroom 2 bathroom brick veneer dealio.
I pay about $464.25 a week, but I get $130 a week rent which cuts that down. When I move back home I'll get about $320/week rent, so it'll be sweet. |
Don't bother with that copy of Inemuri dude, the re-release will be better quality and a better tracklist.
|
I also am preparing releases. I guess the release date'll be the 16th April as that's when my net is fixed, lol. I won't be putting it out in V0, it'll be 320.
I can barely hear artifacts at 192, but I've got a good con trained ear. |
You may as well just release things at 320, that's what all my future releases will be for Tiger Panic. If people are paying for it they'll deserve better than 128 for sure.
|
Word to that. If someone pays to hear my music, I'll personally deliver their album to them if they're in the sydney region.
On a somewhat less vague tangent, I'm thinking of actually doing physical releases if there's enough interest. I'll do art by hand and stuff. Reckon people'd buy it? I've not had net for three weeks and in that time have done two new albums, lol. |
I'm not gonna hand deliver mine but I yeah I would be stoked haha.
Sure they might. I'm hoping at least a few people will buy the Tiger Panic stuff, and the Atlas Weights remixed/re-release, there'll be a few other things for sale too. |
I'll buy Tiger Panic stuff.
I've been working on a few ideas for art around the idea of hand-sewn cloth covers for the jewel-cases that I'll screen print art onto. That way you still have uniform "core" art, but there's a slip cover over it that's art itself. |
Yeah that's a good idea dude. With CD packaging you've got two primary concerns, first and foremost you have to protect the disc sufficiently, and then around that you can innovate a cool design.
Haha. Homer: Ahh, the morning horoscope. "Today will be a day like every other day." Oh... it just gets worse and worse. |
That's exactly what I was thinking.
ps. I'm still at work and have been here since 6:45am. |
Motherfu...
|
haha. I'm staying at a friends house, she lives in newtown, so I can work back a bit then come in early. Or stay i bed.
|
Nice one. I wish I got long shifts at work.

If you're going to do that, consider FLAC and Lame V0/V2 as well. Acoustic music generally compresses easier with lossless and variable bitrate (VBR), so files those won't be that big, but will still sound good. Constant bitrate (CBR) files 320, 256, 192 kbps etc, always have a file size directly related to the length of the song. 320 will sound good, but will have fairly large files and will probably sound identical to a V2 for most people. |
Yeah, file size isn't really a concern for me though because it'll all be hard copy stuff.
Do people need to go out of their way to get V0/V2 codecs? I just made a bitchin' chicken parmi. |
daaaaamn
i just checked out this chicks facebook that i kinda dated at the end of year 12 and man she is a babe now...kinda wish i hadve manned up when i was seeing her anyway how did that parmi go gas? |
320 is a lossy bitrate no matter what way people put it, V0 and V2 are just variable bitrate mp3. V0 is the equivalent of 320 in quality and V2 is 192, but much smaller. A comparison, there is a 50 mb difference between 320 and V0 here but a negligable loss in quality -
http://i44.tinypic.com/33bpwea.jpg personally I there is going to be an exclusive market ignored if FLAC is unavailable for purchase, it is in essence the equivalent of buying original CD quality. In an ideal business world if more artists had a V2, V0 and FLAC rip of any given album available for purchase on their websites people wouldn't have to turn to torrent sites like waffles to get that kind of quality of choice. |
Do people need to go out of their way to get V0/V2 codecs?
Nope, any good mp3 player hardware/software since a long time ago should be able to play them. You just need this to make them http://www.rarewares.org/mp3-lame-bundle.php#lame-current 3.98.2 edit: A frontend will make all that command line stuff easier, razorlame and all2lame seem good Also, if you're going to rip from your cds, Exact Audio Copy, with a special setup guide that myself, Haz or probably a few others could point you to. |
which one did you use bluey? I still use the original one that was popular on oink lulz
http://jiggafellz.isa-geek.net/jiggafellz-step-by-step-guide-to-secure-cd-ripping-with-exact-audio-copy/ this is one of the best tutorials i've ever read, so well written and easy to follow. or this - http://www.xs.vc/eac/ Apparently FLAC isn't just FLAC, it's not truly verifiably lossless unless it's Waffles Iron (WI) Approved FLAC, which is the purpose of this guide. Damn audiophiles. |
Yeah, parmi was good.
I'm not fussed about ripping things from CDs, what I want to do is make sure I burn my original recordings to the CDs I'll be selling at the best quality possible. Please advise re: that. |
I believe you can burn straight out from a program like say, Adobe Audition from within the program so you don't have to compress it first. Maybe you have to save as wav and burn it as that somehow? Not sure.
