Oh the multi-tasking drummer

MAthiAS 09-28-2005 01:27 PM

I don't really like it when drummer's sing... I don't know, somehow it bothers me.

Jev 09-28-2005 01:32 PM

It worked for The Eagles. I don't know any other successful bands with drummers that sing.

Father_Jack 09-28-2005 01:34 PM

NP - Megadeth - Mechanix (Live)

Does anyone else think on this song (from rude awakenings), that dave just totally mumbles and only like 50% of the singing is actually understandable?

I finally paid that bitch for the Rust in Peace book so I should be seeing it in the next few days. I can't wait to nail down five magiks and Take no prisoners.

Those are both my two favorite songs to play. When I'm having just a totally shit day, a couple runs through each picks me up every time.

Can anyone here play the first solo break in In My Darkest Hour? "..But I gotta die first. Please God, send me on my way" - right there. I just started working on it and am already having some trouble getting my timing right.

It's dodgy I can't play it, it just seems Dave did some random improv of hitting as many notes as he could as fast as possible.

lightningmetal666 09-28-2005 01:56 PM

I've decided to try to take up bass so I'm gonna try to learn that awesome bass intro to Peace Sells and maybe some Holy Wars.

I don't really like him but Phil Collins is another example.

Well yea but he didn't drum and sing at the same time. He only sang live.

I'm a big Genesis fan :)

Good Luck with that :thumb:

lightningmetal666 09-28-2005 02:15 PM

I've almost got the intro to Peace Sells down but the middle of the riff is kinda weird. I'll get it down eventually.

Jev 09-28-2005 02:16 PM

Try the bass to My Last Words and Chosen Ones too. Both awesome.

lightningmetal666 09-28-2005 02:18 PM

I really want to get the Peace Sells cd. I seriously need to put death metal on hold and get some more Megadeth cds. I want to hear Good Mourning/black friday. That song sounds pretty cool. (the name of it does)

I'm on the case. Altho if YSI is being a dick it might not happen.

PSBWB is so bad ass. You should buy a few albums though! Support the band for Gigantour 2!

Good Mourning/Black Friday is an awesome song, probably the best on the album.

The intro has that metal haunting quality that makes it pure genious.

Exactly!!! I've been listening and diggin' some death metal recently (I really like Cannibal Corpse) but I've gotta go back to my thrash roots. I really like what Dave's been doing and his personality has vastly improved for the better. (though the christianity thing I find questionable).

I was just a dollar short of getting the newest compilation album.
JUST A FUCKING DOLLAR!!!! I was really pissed. I'll get it when I get paid on the 10th. That, peace sells and Countdown to Extinction.

Jev 09-28-2005 02:38 PM

You mean the Greatist hits cd?
I bought it for the DVD but it sucks cos you can't hear Marty's leads in places and his guitar's too quiet.

Is it?

I always thought Marty's guitar was too quiet compared to Dave's on Rude Awakenings.

Marty wasn't on RA.

Yeah sorry, I meant Al. Yeah, like when Dave is soloing, it almost seems like there is no rhythm underneath at all. But when Al solos, there is always a real thick, loud rhythm.

Yeah, I was going to buy it for that exact reason, but was off by a dollar.

I thought about getting the one without the dvd, but I figured I'll just save up for later.

That's a good fan! Dave said he didn't care if people downloaded his stuff if they were going to purchase some albums in the future when TSHF leaked. Yay for the anti-ulrich attitude.

Methinks it's dave's spite.

Father_Jack 09-28-2005 02:56 PM

Seen as pictures are the topic in the Metallica thrread. Has anyone seen the inlay pictures for Cryptic Writings? Its just bad.

Maybe rhythm isn't one of Al's stronger points.
