whoa, I havent posted in forever, anyway.............I got the three Possessed releases, good thrash even though they are the first "death" metal band, the singer isnt too bad, but still a tad bit annoying...

I was listening to samples of "Seven Churches" last night, and in comparison to Morbid Visions, I want to get both. I do like "Beyond The Gates" too, but I need to get some more thrash when I get the chance.

I've been listening to my Kreator and Sodom CDs, along with Schizophrenia and Arise.

ThrashMaster27 11-05-2004 01:11 AM

I really suggest everyone check out Hobbs Angel Of Death if you're a fan of early Slayer as they are basically the Australian version of them. It's highly likely you'll be able to pick up one of their albums from a local CD store or something so you'll probably have to download. Anything off the self titled album is badass, especially House Of Death.

IMO Seven Churches is better than Morbid Visions, better production is one of the reasons. They are both good though so like you say, get them both :thumb:

*unlikely?

I've heard of them, but with that name I figured they were a joke band. I'll check em out.

ThrashMaster27 11-05-2004 10:09 AM

Bastard! what a typo. Oh well, you get the point.
Agreed, Slayer are the kings of Thrash
No, Megadeth are. They always have been, and always will be.

sensitiveorgan00 11-05-2004 09:37 PM

Meh, Megadeth aren't that great. And it's kind of hard being teh kings of thrash when you don't play thrash anymore.

ThrashMaster27 11-05-2004 09:45 PM

Kings of Thrash = Overkill.

FatalEnergy 11-05-2004 11:23 PM

Kings of Thrash = not any of "The Big Four"

manuscriptreplica 11-05-2004 11:34 PM

I downloaded those two Heathen albums, I didn't think they were too great. What songs should I play to change my mind.

NP Dark Angel - Hunger of the Undead

manuscriptreplica 11-05-2004 11:35 PM

Kings of Thrash = Coroner

RavenousMetalist87 11-06-2004 11:46 AM

*bump*

Sorry for the off-topic post, but I've been attempting to play more thrash on my axe, and so far, it's coming along alright. The stress is just cutting out time for me to play, but I guess I'll work around that.

I do want to get some more thrash CDs, but I'm trying to watch my money x_x

NP: Sepultura - Escape To The Void

RavenousMetalist87 11-06-2004 05:54 PM

*bump again*

I went to Best Buy today and picked up "Still Reigning" and then went over to Tower, to my suprise finding "Extreme Aggression".

Still Reigning - I have to say, even though I couldn't see Slayer at Ozzfest (I was there, but I was on the lawn, and I couldn't see ****), this DVD reminds me of how great Slayer can be live. I really was getting into the DVD, and even the 6 extra bonus tracks + a segment about Slayer talking about how they got to where they are today and stuff are just great. For 10 bucks, this was a great deal.

Extreme Aggression - Still listening to it, but the Self Titled track "Extreme Aggressions" is purely a classic thrash anthem. I really love it but the Live version from Live Kreation is better. However, it sounds much better and cleaner on the CD. Every track I've listened to so far has been getting me wanting just pick up my guitar and play.

All in all, the new items I bought have kept my inspiration flowing and I must say, I recommend both to anyone who doesn't own them.

metal-militia 11-06-2004 06:06 PM

im thinking about getting Extreme Agression if i dont get it for my birthday, and also whats Live Kreation like? That Slayer DVD sounds cool and i think im going to check it out.

RavenousMetalist87 11-06-2004 06:15 PM

Live Kreation is just purely awesome. Live footage from Sao Paulo, North America, Germany, South Korea, Brazil, basically just Kreator playing a lot of their older stuff and some songs like The Patriarch, Violent Revolution, Reconquering The Throne, and then Servant in Heaven, King in Hell off of Violent Revolution.

Here's their entire set list of footage they got on the DVD:
The Patriarch
Violent Revolution
Reconquering the Throne
Extreme Aggression
People of the Lie
Lost
Coma of Souls
All of the same blood
Phobia
Black Sunrise
Pleasure to Kill
Renewal
Servant in Heaven, King in Hell
Terrible Certainty
Riot of Violence
Terrorzone
Betrayer

Bonus Footage:
Flag of Hate
Tormentor

Special Features:
History (1982-2001)
Includes videos such as Toxic Trace, Betrayer, People of the Lie, and a lot more.

Comes with a Discography and Merchandise viewer, and you can connect online if your PC has a DVD-ROM drive.

So far, for 19 bucks, you can a lot for your money. I strongly suggest getting the Expanded Edition with the DVD, Poster, and 2 Disc Set because that would be the ultimate glory. The CD is the same as the DVD (I'm sure it is) and you get a free poster too. I wish I got that :( but the DVD still kicks major *** :D

LordDargon 11-06-2004 06:17 PM

Kings of Thrash = Dark ****ing Angel

overkill never appealed to me that much, but they are pretty good...

NP: Overkill - Deny the Cross

sensitiveorgan00 11-07-2004 12:11 AM

^ That's such a killer song.

FatalEnergy 11-07-2004 03:44 PM

Im sick of waiting for people to put out new albums.........anyway....kings of thrash = Vio-lence

Jamie FT 11-07-2004 04:05 PM

hey all, long time no post, dunno why that's been, anyway what's up in the world of thrash?

RavenousMetalist87 11-07-2004 04:41 PM

Well Jamie, Slayer's new DVD is out, Testament is under way with working on their new album, Slayer's on tour (gonna see them on the 17th, the Ultimate way to kick off the Holidays XD), Megadeth and Exodus are touring, and as far as I know, Kreator is aiming for January 05 to release their new album "Enemy of God".

Yep. Call me crazy, but I love all those bands I listed :D

I just got Extreme Aggression yesterday and I can't get the titled track out of my head x_x

JMetallica 11-07-2004 06:32 PM

*Extreme Aggression from an extremely insane mind* dododod.

I'd have to agree with Thrashmaster again; the kings of thrash are indeed Overkill.

In non thrash realated news, Accept have reformed. :D

I dunno. Does he live in the south of Sweden as well?

JMetallica 11-07-2004 08:39 PM

Guys, i dont know about you, but the most metal cd i can find around here is Sepultura's new one. If i only bought CDs that local stores had in stock my collection would be about 3. You can actually ask your record store to special order cds for you, and all will be able to. Gees, if they can't get extreme aggression in, they need shut their doors, as they arent a music store.

;)

:chug:

:smoke:

Yep...I am one lucky bastard XD

Arise, I'm from the crappy town of Los Angeles XD. Yeah, my music stores carry a good selection of thrash. I've found Annihilator, Kreator, Anvil, Sodom, Kreator, Possessed, Sepultura (old stuff), Exhorder, Slayer, Destruction, Exodus and Testament all here. However, I've noticed a lot of the underrated thrash is untouched, and I was lucky that I could find Extreme Aggression. I was so ****ing shocked to find it at Tower, because I was like "meh...not going to find anything...but then I found it :smoke:

JMetallica, good luck with getting ahold of Extreme Aggression. You won't be disappointed when you get it. I was playing Extreme Aggressions on my guitar earlier...I need more practice on it but I can get it good if I can find time to get a tab and avoid the stress.

JMetallica 11-07-2004 10:12 PM

Heheh, no no, i think you miss understood my post, or i didnt explain myself properly. 1) I was trying to say you guys should special order CDs instead of waiting for them to magically show up in a music shop 2) music shops suck, and 3) I already have extreme aggression because i special ordered it :)
