haha. i was just stating my opinion about u2. i also like how you abbreviated my name.
i was indeed talking about layla and other assorted love songs. i love it. live at the fillmore blows it away though. |
Woo. I just downloaded 4 albums.
Albert King & Otis Rush - Door to Door Phish - Hoist Phish - A Picture of Nectar Widespread Panic - s/t |
Sold out? Please, I don't think U2 was ever much of an underground band, their music has always sold. Their sound isn't that different either so I'm not sure why your saying their sold out. Sure they were in an iPod commercial... but Bob Dylan was in a Victoria’s Secret commercial, has Bob Dylan sold out?
I was referring more to how they originally used their music to voice their political views, and now their music and their political views seem like two completely different entities. And they haven't really explored any new regions musically or lyrically in the past ten years...it's as if they no longer need their music to satisfy themselves politically or artistically, they are just putting out albums to make sure they stay in the spotlight. I dunno, that's sorta what I meant by "selling out," but I don't really know what I'm talking about once I actually have to start backing up statements. Btw Jacaranda...are you a girl? |

Actually, in the past 10-15 years they branched out to unlistenable dance-pop, then moved onto far more basic music. What's pretty bizarre to me is how ever since about their third or fourth album, every song they've done is basically about faith and religion. |
Never listened to U2 really except for Vertigo, and I didn't care for it much.
Nah, just a pretty lucky old dude.
Hehe. He looked so lost and confused in that video.
Btw Jacaranda...are you a girl?
A dead sexy one at that! ..... .... Seriously, his name's "Mitch." np: The Pogues - Blue Heaven |
Haha, he's not a chick.
Even though he listens to Madonna and Shakira :p :X |

I haven't listened to it yet. I will soon though.
I'm up to 6 Phish albums and 6 Widespread albums :o |

How is it compared to the Rainbow concert? (I'm only comparing it to the Rainbow concert because its the closest live album to that one I belive) |
:amaze: pigonthewing! haven't see nyou in a while!
|
Phish - Hoist
Widespread Panic - s/t
These are both great albums. Down With Disease and Julius are my favorite songs off of Hoist. |

I know aside from that I've been extreamly busy with school and applying to collage, and getting a job and working, I've also been sort of on a creative bindge with music and have been playing and writing an awful lot. For now though I'm satisfied with all I've written and don't have a job anymore so I should more or less be a regular again for now. |

I know PF is a huge fan of it. I remember him saying that it is the best Clapton playing he has ever heard multiple times. I really want it, and I really should buy it because I see it in Coconuts all the time but it's always like 30 bucks. I should just spend the money and get it though. I love the Rainbow Concert and it's from shortly after Derek and the Dominoes broke up, but the songs aren't really extended and jammed on much. I remember looking at the times of the songs on Live at the Filmore and some songs were stretched out to 17 or so minutes. So it's probably much better than the Rainbow Concert. I've decided I'm definitely buying it the next time I go cd shopping, whatever the price is. np- Pigs (3 Different Ones) |
Anyone here like Iron Maiden? I think we've asked this before, but meh. I like Maiden.
|
Yeah that will probally be my next cd purchase. I agree with the Rainbow concert I wish there was more jamming. With so many great musicians playing that night an extended jam could have been amazing. Not to say the album isn't bad, I think Clapton's playing is great, I just wish there was more of it.
|
I have all their albums I think. They're all pretty good, but I dislike Virtual XI a lot.
I just downloaded Billy Breathes also. |
I love iron maiden.
Steve Harris is a genious on bass. |
I love maiden.
One of the best metal bands IMO. |
I love maiden.
Anyone here like Iron Maiden? I think we've asked this before, but meh. I like Maiden.
I love Iron Maiden. Steve Harris is such a beast on bass. I've got Killers, The Number of the Beast, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, and Piece of Mind. Killers and The Number of the Beast are probably my favorites. |

You know I usually can't stand bands like Iron Maiden, but for some reason I don't mind them. I don't own any of the albums or intend to, but when I hear a song of theirs I usually think its good. From the songs I've heard they seem pretty talented. |
whatever. i still think bono is a douche bag. and i strongly dislike the music u2 makes.
and it annoys me when you abbreviate musicians with musos. musos?
It annoys you? Fark dude how do you survive navigatin this weird internet thingy if you can't handle a few abbreviations? |
I feel sorry for you if you want a Warlock..
I don't know if you're being serious or not but I certainly agree with it. They look nice but play and sound like crap. Yes, Maiden are good. They're a step and a half ahead of less melodic metal. |
I agree. Bill Gates and Bono? WTF?
Seriously! When I saw that cover of Time mag, those same three letters were flowing through my head. My friend who's in my band is a die hard Iron Maiden fan. Some of their music is growing on me, pretty cool stuff... The number of the beast is 6. 6. 6... |

Piece Of Mind has The Trooper, which may be my favorite metal song of all time. np: The Kinks - Father Christmas I might get to go to Ottawa this summer :D:D |
There live albums are sweet aswell. Although in the Trooper solo, he doesn't play it like in the studio version :X That pisses me off.
Yeah, RNR, Warlocks suck. I just ate a Dominos medium pizza. I'm fat. |
I just ate a Dominos medium pizza. I'm fat.
I just had Indian food. A few bites of that makes me feel like I'm a blimp. |
mmmmmmmm... Dominoes. I prefer Little Ceasers though.
Warlocks do suck. That might be why they are cheaply priced.. |
