I've gotten into Jethro Tull lately. Downloaded Aqualung, and it kicks ***. I want to download their discography, but I have had no luck so far.
Fuck yeah bro.
I can understand why so many cats dis U2, they've made some crap and Bono and the Edge can come across like douchebags but to deny that they've made some brilliant ultra-powerful rock tunes in their time is to misunderstand rock music.
ppl dis bono coz they reckon musos shouldnt have a say in political matters or an opinion. They reckon they should just "keep to the music." Of course, these people can go and fucking die. |
wow. layla (album) is so incredible. wow.
|
wasn't that on the Derek and the Dominoes album?
|
I think he means the entire album. It's a very good one.
NP: DEP - Sandbox Magician \m/
123.I totally agree with you on that one man. It's like if the ramones made a country song :p
I'm not sure if you're grasping the point I was trying to make... |
ppl dis bono coz they reckon musos shouldnt have a say in political matters or an opinion. They reckon they should just "keep to the music."
That's what I mean. Musos have every right to be as political as they want but people react against that as well as with it. It's natural to respond by saying, "dude, you fucking play guitar or write songs, and you're good at it ... but that doesn't give you any sort of insight into the ways of the world that your average janitor or construction worker couldn't have ... and yet there you are with the world leaders getting taken seriously and getting miles of column inches." And that's totally true, artists and entertainers have an inherent credibility bestowed on them by much of the general public that has no base in logic or truth and those that recognise this have the opposite reaction. But however much of a dork Bono looks when he gets up there still in his rockstar duds he still has every right to use whatever power he has to influence the world as he sees it, and I support him in most of his causes. |
whatever. i still think bono is a douche bag. and i strongly dislike the music u2 makes.
and it annoys me when you abbreviate musicians with musos. musos? |
What the hell is a musos? Why are you all here?
NP: VU - I'm Waiting For My Man |
HAHA. i second the "why are you all here," part.
i think musos is supposed to be a retarded version of musicians. i cant for the life of me think why. |
Yeah, wtf is a muso? It got me confused for a second.
|
U2 ain't that bad.....granted their not my favorite group, or close to one of them, and I can't see myself buying any of their stuff anytime soon, but they're not that bad. I applaud them for trying to make a difference in the world

Why do you say he's a douche? He's done a lot for charity, and helped a huge amount of people out of debt in Africa. Granted, I'm not the worlds biggest U2 fan, but I'd say he makes ok music. Strictly that, ok music, not good or bad. Np: Daniel - Elton John |

Np: Daniel - Elton John
he seems stuck up to me. he also seems like an attention whore. there are plenty of musicians and people who do a lot for chairty who arent in the spotlight all the time like he is. and time mustve been hard pressed for people of the year this year. |
The difference between Bono and other politically or charitably active celebrities is that Bono seems care a lot more about his various political and charity efforts than his actual music. He doesn't even talk about music any more in his interviews, from what I've seen. I dig a lot of U2's music, but Bono needs to decide whether he's actually still a musician, or whether he strictly a political or celebrity figure. I appreciate his charity work, but he seems to have "sold out" beyond the point of no return (musically).

I agree. Bill Gates and Bono? WTF? |
Apparently U2 played at the game last night. I turned it off before they got on.
I hate them with a passion. |
I really can't stand U2. The last good song they released was in the 80's. And Bono is a pretentious prick, of course.
|
Bono has a HUGE head and a HUGE pair of sunglasses.
|
I'm not a very big U2 fan, but I think it's embarrassing that Bono does more to help people than our elected political officials.

Same^
its great. yet another album that schyma thinks is mediocre. haha. damn that boy.
It's way to long and most of the songs drag on for seemingly forever, I get so bored of it so quickly. The only song that's above sub-par for me is "Bell Bottom Blues".

MX no longer resizes avatars?

No man.
You gotta go on paintshop and do it yourself. It's not to bad though. |
Mmm....I recently changed avatars and it resized mine.

Didn't resize mine.
I appreciate his charity work, but he seems to have "sold out" beyond the point of no return (musically).
Sold out? Please, I don't think U2 was ever much of an underground band, their music has always sold. Their sound isn't that different either so I'm not sure why your saying their sold out. Sure they were in an iPod commercial... but Bob Dylan was in a Victoria’s Secret commercial, has Bob Dylan sold out?
he seems stuck up to me. he also seems like an attention whore. there are plenty of musicians and people who do a lot for chairty who arent in the spotlight all the time like he is. and time mustve been hard pressed for people of the year this year.
Well he wants to get the attention on him so he can say what he wants to say. That’s his strategy for raising money for charity, he wants create attention. Attention results in awareness and knowledge. I mean if no one ever created attention on any problems we'd end up allowing another Holocaust. Some people donate 500 grand or whatever and not mention a word, humble? Modest? I suppose. While he donates 500 grand and tells everyone why he did it and what’s happening on to make him donate. Arrogant? Conceited? Please... That being said, I like U2 alot. And have no problem with them. I love Boy and War as for the rest of their music, eh, its alright. EDIT: Wow, the ACDC thread is full of idiots... I read it and I just cringe "Malcom Young is teh best guitarist of all time" "Bon Scott had more talent then any singer" Ouch. My heart. |
What album are you talking about? I can't find the post you quoted
Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs, I think.
but Bob Dylan was in a Victoria’s Secret commercial, has Bob Dylan sold out?
Nah, just a pretty lucky old dude. |
