a song can't have been good "back in the day" something either is good or isn't the song doesn't change your opinion does

back in 8th grade i was listening to the velvet underground, the clash, frank zappa and the stooges. i skipped all the gay nu metal shit. guess i'm just not a faggot like you guys

Tyler 06-15-2011 11:47 PM

No one said the song was "good then turned to shit" obviously by saying it was good "back in the day" implies that we liked it at one point, but our tastes have changed.

^^

Also when I was listening to shitty nu-metal I was still listening to things like Slayer, Old Metallica, Iron Maiden, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Queen, Deep Purple, Blue Oyster Cult and other classic rock stuff that my dad got me into at the time.

Then one day my friend showed me Morbid Angel and early In Flames and I ditched the nu-metal stuff.

illmitch 06-16-2011 12:05 AM

TimJim 06-16-2011 12:00 PM

when i was in grade 8 i started listening to Nyktalgia

Route1 06-16-2011 12:01 PM

oh yeah

masscows 06-16-2011 12:05 PM

yeah idk i used to make fun of nu metal kids for being faggy goths in middle school when i listened to pop punk

i've never really listened to any of it beyond a few limp bizkit singles and videos making fun of slipknot

hismajestythepope 06-16-2011 02:37 PM

in middle school, me and my friends used to just yell "SLIPKNOT RULES" at the goth kids and make really gay angry "metal" faces and show them the horns

they'd get super offended and then try to act aloof every time

then they started throwing their unopened chocolate milk cartons at me at lunch at some point in like 8th grade and i'd always just be like "thanks" and drink them because they weren't tampered with

Tyler 06-16-2011 02:38 PM

It depends on how old you were, honestly. In grade 7 you were either into bad pop punk or bad nu metal. I was into both. By grade 8 I was getting elite tho

hismajestythepope 06-16-2011 02:41 PM

I was into bad nu metal and oldschool hardcore, I was a confused lad.

But yeah, 8th grade is when I started getting into skramz, Cold Like December and Circle Takes The Square were like, the most innovative shit I ever heard.

First time I heard Oktober Skyline, my head exploded.
