Isn't there supposed to be a movie coming out about Copeland and The Police? Like really soon?

Aaron 10-09-2006 08:14 PM

I didn't hear that. That would be really cool though!

Josiah 10-09-2006 08:17 PM

Stewy is awesome. He had a unique approach to the kit and a great style. Not to mention he hit VERY hard.

He really popularized a lot of stuff used today in music actually. Really compentently bridging the gap between regea, rock and pop

Aaron 10-09-2006 08:18 PM

Yeah, I can hear alot of his influence in todays pop and pop-punk. Drummers like Barker don't even know how lucky they are with what they grew up with. It's the young drummers now that'll suffer because they have such poor influences.

Because of Copeland I now own 5 splashes. lol

Josiah 10-09-2006 08:22 PM

hahaha exactly

Aaron 10-09-2006 08:24 PM

Damn kids not knowing their roots. It amazes me how many drummers say "bonham is my favourite drummer by far" and then can't name more than 3 songs by Zep and one of them is Stairway to Heaven. sigh

I could name 20 at least!

Josiah 10-09-2006 08:33 PM

Hmm I dunno if I can name 20, and I'm a big Zepplin fan.

I just never see the song titles whenI listen is all, like most if not all my music....

311 is my favorite band though. By far. Been a fan since before most people even knew of them.

Back in the day when I got an OCDP set cause Chad turned me on to this lil company down the street who made drums...

Josiah 10-09-2006 08:42 PM

Wow Orange County sucks.. just So Cal in general.

I can't wait to move away. Driving here alone is just friggin absurd. People ask why I drive a big rasied truck. Cause I'm flippin scared of all the idiots out there with 2 ton cars who have no idea what they are doing, nor belong on the road.

Even still I'd prob only have even odd's against these dumbass soccer moms in gaint SUV's who are talkin on their cell phones and totally ignoring driving laws, let alone common sense.

GAAAHHH!

What's the OffSpring song.. I swear I'ma start carrying bricks and rocks in my truck to throw at people who are idiots on the road.

Theres still great music out there today. Just have to dig. :thumb:

I have something like 180 gigs of music on my computer. Not much formula following stuff either.

ludvista29 10-09-2006 08:45 PM

meh, I'm so bored i'll name 20 without stairway to heaven.
The Rover, The Wanton Song, How Many More Times, Dazed and Confused, All of My Love, Hot Dog, Fool in the Rain, The Ocean, Dancing Days, Whole Lotta Love,Thats The Way, Going to California, Immigrant Song, Bring it On Home, Moby Dick, What is and What Should Never Be, When The levee Breaks, is that 20?...uhmmm...2...4..6..8...10.........3 more... The Battle of evermore, Bonzo's Monterux, Tangerine! I WIN! w00t. I didnt even look at Itunes!

Aaron 10-09-2006 08:46 PM

Yeah, but it's not like the mainstream music of the 70s and 80s where pop music was still made by musicians, not producers.

luddy: achilles last stand is the best

Josiah 10-09-2006 08:48 PM

don't worry, major record companies are on the way out in a big and fast way. Everyone keep D/L music and stop listening to the radio... i'm serious.

Take away the only thing they have tos tand on, then it'll be forced tocome back to quality music

Aaron 10-09-2006 08:50 PM

yeah

Oh, ok I see where you were going with that.

Janeway 10-09-2006 09:06 PM

Baaah.

I'm in the general jazz band at college. It's like highschool all over again.

But I'm first alto.

But there are two baris, two tenors, four altos, three trombones, a french horn, five trumpets, vibes, a drummer, a pianist, a bassist, and a violinist. That's a really shitty instrumentation, but everybody gets accepted to it.

I long for the days of one bari, two tenors, two altos, four trombones, four trumpets, and drums, bass, guitar, piano, and vibes. =/

Berk 10-09-2006 09:11 PM

Ok back to Stewart Copeland.

Stewart Copeland movies presents:

The Police: Everyone Stares, The Police Inside out.

"when i was a member of...the police...i had... a super 8 movie cameria. I...started filming ...and it was like watchin a movie unfold as the band sparked a fire that lit up the world for us. Everyone Stares is that movie."

ES is a first person account from Stewart Copeland's eyes of The Police's ascent from obscurity to worldwide fame.

Unreleased tracks + dvd specials on the dvd. I have the DVD trailer, it's in stores Sept 12. So i Guess it's already out.

Berk 10-09-2006 09:32 PM

I'm in love with that "I want to here you sad" song. Killer.

Sync0pation 10-09-2006 10:36 PM

No prob. There's an ad for it in ModernDrummer magazine, the latest one with Brad Wilk on the cover. It came with a DVD Trailer, planning to watch that soon.

Aaron 10-09-2006 10:38 PM

That's come out in like March here

Sync0pation 10-09-2006 10:44 PM

The issue says November 2006 lol.

Brad Wilk was the first drummer I started looking at for beats and fills. So he's one of my favs. I don't like Audioslave though, Rage Against the Machine FTW.

I'm out, night everyone.

MatthewMeredith 10-09-2006 10:52 PM
