Awesome. I love that movie.

Saitoku 02-14-2005 11:14 PM

Sorry.... I'm running out or pirate-speak.

In real life news, I'm happy to say that I ordered my Boss ME-50B today WITH optional FS-6 footswitch.

irishslappop 02-14-2005 11:16 PM

nice!
i just learned the first 20 seconds of classical thump, alot easier theni thought it would be, but thetriplets scare me :(

Saitoku 02-14-2005 11:19 PM

Well, you're better off than I am... I've haven't even bothered to learn how to double thump yet. I don't honestly know if I ever will.... I was hesitant to even learn to slap. I just like to play fingerstyle most of the time, so I don't see myself having a practical use for it. Maybe someday.... who knows?

irishslappop 02-14-2005 11:28 PM

slaping is fun, but fingerstyle is more useful i think. i just like slap cuz ithink it's fun.

Saitoku 02-14-2005 11:30 PM

Yeah. I have trouble working it into a groove and still sounding the way I like to sound.

Slapping IS fun, but I hate the way everyone thinks you're playing the "Seinfeld song" just because you're slapping...

irishslappop 02-14-2005 11:36 PM

hahah yeah  double thumping is easier then i thought it would be too, i thought only like the best of the best could do it, but i picked it up rather quickly.
play this, its like a generic slap funk thing i like the play with

G-------------------------------5h7
D--------------------------5h7-----5h7
A5--5---5------5--5---5----------------5--5
E-----------------------------------------------
simple yet fun :thumb:

Saitoku 02-14-2005 11:44 PM

Cool.

I really ought to get some recordings going so you guys can hear my l33t skillz. I think I'm one of the only people on the boards who hasn't posted any recordings of myself.

I could post some tabs, but it wouldn’t transfer well, since I use such heavily syncopated rhythms.

I'll probably do it once I get the ME-50B so I can use it as a signal boost. It just sounds too muddy right now.

irishslappop 02-14-2005 11:48 PM

Saitoku 02-14-2005 11:51 PM

Cool. How long have you been playing?

irishslappop 02-14-2005 11:54 PM

about 3 years. seriously only for about 1 and a half years tho
in going to record that CT to show off......****ing quatre can play like a minute of it :(

Saitoku 02-14-2005 11:56 PM

That's cool. I've been playing for about 4 years now.

I don't really know if it shows. My big secret fear is that I actually suck and I just don't know it yet.

irishslappop 02-15-2005 12:01 AM

The JoZ 02-15-2005 12:10 AM

I posted this in the temp casual, but now that this is working, here ya go
Well, since this is the temp casual, here we go.

I finally have a full band! This weekend, me and my guitarist Corey met up with this drummer, Scott, and vocalist, Don, who were tired of their guitarist/bassist and wanted someone new. Corey and I had a drummer with us at one point, but he's been AWOL thanks to the Navy, so, we decided to look for a new drummer in addition to finding a vocalist.

Well, these guys came out to Corey's yesterday to check out our stuff. We played through three songs before they decided they liked what they heard and that they wanted to jam along with us. So we all went out to their storage unit - they actually have space to jam in too, which is something else Corey and I haven't had - and we rocked out for about 4 hours or so, working on our first song. Well, the work was being done by the drummer, so he could learn it, Corey and I have known it for a month or so now...

So yeah, we jammed last night, and then went back out there this afternoon, and the first song is, for all intents and purposes, done now, as a group. The lyrics/vocals still have to be finalized, but overall, very good progress for having only known each other two days really. We basically made this group official, as they are having their now former guitarist and bassist get their stuff out of the unit tomorrow so Corey and I can set up permanently (Unless something really crappy goes down ). We still aren't really named yet, but we're working on that.

I can't really label us, in terms of a genre. It's heavy, metallic, but with softer spots and lots of melody. Don has a really wicked scream, but he sings pretty well too.

Soon as I get recordings, etc, you guys will definetly here about it!

I'm so psyched, because I think this band will finally be the one to go somewhere. There is so much potential, so much talent...it would be very stupid of me to predict how far this band goes, but I have a feeling I will get out there, at least at a local...maybe even regional, level, in the near future!
