Thanks for The Adventure J-Cool.

It's very different, quite atmospheric. I like it though. It's great to hear Tom again, even though I don't like his voice that much.

DJ Ducksauce 02-08-2006 07:15 PM

Also, a new Macbeth podcast is out with Tom interviewing Hunter from AFI.

dancetomdance182 02-08-2006 09:40 PM

Since we are on the topic of guitar playing, what do you think is the hardest blink song to play?

HitHardDrums55 02-08-2006 09:46 PM

i dont know much about guitar, but i think boring sounds the hardest

These_Green_Eyes 02-08-2006 09:58 PM

Boring is easy to play. For me at least.

DJ Ducksauce 02-08-2006 10:27 PM

Yeah, Boring is pretty easy. I just figured it out on my own.

I'd say the hardest blink songs might include:

Wasting Time
Ben-Wah-Balls
Dysentery Gary(I could never get the triplet picking down too well)

These aren't hard, they are just the more difficult ones imo.

Fire Away 02-09-2006 12:53 AM

At school today, at lunchtime some punk-*** kids were in the music room playing Dammit, and Adam's Song. God, they sucked.
awwww lean on my shoulder :) Apparently tom gf got cut at that line.... fair enuff imo
Just uploading bce 2 albums to my computer (from the orginal cd:) i wouldnt sscrew them )
He means Behind Crimson Eyes, I'm pretty sure.

I had a bass lesson today, and my bass teacher is really good but very old-fashioned. He won't teach me how to play with a pick. I told him that if I'm ever going to want to do something with a bass, it would probably be playing other bands' songs that I like, songs with bass players that play with a pick.

Grr. Playing Blink songs without a pick is retarded...

And he goes on about how all the recent music is too easy and uncomplicated. Why should music be made complicated if it sounds great uncomplicated?!

Sorry for the rant.

poo-poo-pee-pee 02-09-2006 02:52 AM

I agree with all of the above.

yourstruly 02-09-2006 03:22 AM

and you can learn Blink songs by yourself at home.

I use to learn bass my teacher was cool his band even covered some blink 182.. My advice to you quit bass lessons i did when i relised i didnt wanna be a really good bassist i just wanted to be able to play well enuff to be in a band.

These_Green_Eyes 02-09-2006 05:42 AM

Yeah, maybe M+M's.

redrumsixsix6 02-09-2006 09:16 AM

you know im not sure about m&m's being the hardest, sure its fast but thats it. Wasting time has some hard timing things and going from the chords to the notes would prob be alittle difficult altho ive never tried that song. Obvious is kinda hard.....he used a weird tuning and i belive some weird chords......i think the songs on s/t are prob more techincle and harder to play and or figure out. most of the old stuff is easy as long as u can play fast......actually ervything is pretty easy! the only thing i cant get is when they do rock show live theres that pull of in the intro i cant quite figure out.....

oh and the guy whos teacher wouldnt teach him how to use a pick...i think thats a good thing, ull be gratefull in time to come. but u can always just use a pick at home, its not like u need a teacher to play blink songs (unless you just started or something)

Get Fighted 02-09-2006 10:10 AM

The hardest Blink song is Reebok Commercial imo.

16 Nipples 02-09-2006 10:16 AM

Yeah M+M's, Wasting Time, I suppose the Carousel 'solo' in the bridge took some practice.

I just listened to Don't by Blink, such a fukin amaaze song

Bad Blood 02-09-2006 01:15 PM

M+M's isn't a difficult song to play : /

the_uber_penguin 02-09-2006 02:45 PM

Actually, I found I could learn all of the self-titled album very easily. It's all simple rhythms and 8ve shapes or powerchords. The only real exception is I'm Lost Without You which has some impossible fingerings, which were done via multitracking.

I think the hardest time I've ever had with a Blink 182 song is getting the timing to Untitled on the intro right while trying to sing it, or the bridge in Carousel.

These_Green_Eyes 02-09-2006 06:26 PM
The hardest Blink song is Reebok Commercial imo.
Yeah, that lead solo is quite hard. I think everyone has their own opinion on which song is the hardest.

HitHardDrums55 02-09-2006 07:14 PM

as with anything else, it depends on your style

yourstruly 02-10-2006 12:40 AM

Is all of "All the small things" in C Major?

plaidbassbilly 02-10-2006 01:56 AM

Ahhh thanks for the advice and being on my side...:D

When I first started playing some songs off EOTS such as Don't Leave Me and Aliens Exist were way too fast for me.

yourstruly 02-10-2006 03:19 AM

Those aren't really that fast. You just gotta practise heaps and it gets easier.

10571z 02-10-2006 04:11 AM

yeh its hard cause you have to play a power chord then the lil riff thing.. you can do it the easy way by just doing a single note if your lazy

plaidbassbilly 02-10-2006 04:44 AM
Those aren't really that fast. You just gotta practise heaps and it gets easier.
Yeah it's ok now, but back then I was struggling to keep up.

Untitled 02-10-2006 06:34 AM

Hardest blink song on guitar is proberly reebok commershial

DJ Ducksauce 02-10-2006 07:18 AM

I remember learning The Rock Show and it was too fast for me. It's really easy now though. Just took some practice.

Ross 02-10-2006 10:52 AM

I learned loads of Pennywise before learning any blink... By that time nothing was fast to me anymore.

dancetomdance182 02-10-2006 08:48 PM
Is all of "All the small things" in C Major?
Yes.

dancetomdance182 02-10-2006 08:50 PM

Carousel isn't hard, its the timing that is a little awkward.
To 10571z, why limit yourself to one type of music. It's always better to play all different styles of music.

10571z 02-10-2006 11:47 PM

what? when did i say i limit myself to one type of music???

what do u think is the hardest bass song

carousel and capocpany

plaidbassbilly 02-11-2006 01:25 AM

After a while Carousel isn't that bad, but at the start it took me forever.

yourstruly 02-11-2006 02:35 AM

Took me about 10mins of complete focus to get that stat bit of Carousel. Rest is pretty average though.

poo-poo-pee-pee 02-11-2006 04:56 AM

Carousel was the first song I ever learnt on bass..
(I played bass for about 6 months before I started guitar.)
I didn't care how hard it was, it sounded so ****in' cool. I got it down in a day or two. After that everything seemed stupidly easy on bass, as I really only played blink songs when I started. Which is why I started guitar.
Wasn't that a great little story?! Wanna hear some more!?

These_Green_Eyes 02-11-2006 09:25 AM

I would say that top three would be: Marlboro Man, Carousel, and Cacophony.

Ross 02-11-2006 10:05 AM
Wasn't that a great little story?! Wanna hear some more!?
Go for it. In my current hung-over state stories could do me good.
I would say that top three would be: Marlboro Man, Carousel, and Cacophony.
Marlboro Man has a nice guitar solo.

B 02-11-2006 11:50 AM

I love the song Alone.

One of the first songs I learned to play.
