How do you manage that?

Isn't it 20 hours class time a week to be considered a full time student, and you work full time on top of that?

Aaron 02-02-2009 10:17 PM

At UOW it's enrolment in three undergraduate or postgraduate courses at a time.

And I work 50 hours on top of that, lol.

big80smullet 02-02-2009 10:18 PM

i am a casual casual easy thing

Aaron 02-02-2009 10:19 PM

According to my financial advisor, the housing market will significantly come down in the next 2 years, with a particularly strong decline in the next year.

I'm not sure of areas exactly, but for instance, he said houses out in Queanbeyan have come down by about $50k in the last 3 months alone, and the drop was only meant to be worse.

Of course, this is the same guy who said I could invest $400k+ on the market with the knowledge no crash was coming soon (this was September last year), and look what happened there (I have already "lost" $100k).

So how many actual hours do you spend "learning" a week?

Jesus dude, with $400,000 I'd just stick it in a savings account with a decent interest rate.

Actually tbh I'd make a few hefty TAB bets here and there.

Chu 02-02-2009 10:24 PM

Hey, UOW and ANU are the same (UC is surprisingly different though).

Hell yeah for 3 course bludgers.

Edit: The thing is, money on the stock market is completely on paper, I put "lost" in quotes, because I haven't actually lost any money yet. Simply the value of the amount of stocks I own.

The investment was long term, so I'm not particularly worried (my parents on the other hand, who are both approaching retirement, have been hit hard).

I also put some money into property (I have 1 house in my name, and gave my dad a little over $200k for our house (to help with the mortgage), though it's not in my name).

Aaron 02-02-2009 10:25 PM

Woot!

Well I don't attend lectures, only tutorials, so 4.

gaslight 02-02-2009 10:27 PM

Haha. Dude, sweet life.

That's only 2 hours more than me and I can't have travel concessions anymore :upset:.

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 02-02-2009 10:27 PM

i'm a full time student as of next tuesday so what does that mean for me?

gaslight 02-02-2009 10:35 PM

From what I've gathered, no special money from this government thing but you'll be eligible for student discounts on appropriate things from the second you get your student card.

I used to pay $19 for a weekly train ticket to the city, now I gotta pay $38 if I want one. Hopefully I won't be going to the city that often though.

Damn.

horseypie 02-02-2009 10:54 PM

oi aaron

how many hours do you have to do a week or whatever to be considered a full time worker?

Aaron 02-02-2009 10:57 PM

AFAIK more than 32.

gaslight 02-02-2009 11:00 PM

Yeah that sounds right.

Also, most places will either hire you specifically as full time or part time in your job description. Pay rates are different I believe.

Aaron 02-02-2009 11:00 PM

32 hours is 4 days a week. So it's basically more than 4.

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 02-02-2009 11:03 PM

oi aaron snd me that picture again, i have my phone back

Aaron 02-02-2009 11:10 PM

Done. Post it here if you've got usb-trickery.

gaslight 02-02-2009 11:16 PM

So, I want a chin-up bar in my house but I can't screw one into a door frame or anything else because we rent.

Using the collective powers of your thinking, what solutions are available?

big80smullet 02-02-2009 11:19 PM

roof beam in garage

gaslight 02-02-2009 11:21 PM

Not bad, I like it. Any more?
