The riffs sound extremely American to me. Also the keyboard does sometimes when it is industrial, like in In Your Face.

Thor 09-27-2005 05:39 PM

Just wondering, but how can a riff sound American?

IheartSP 09-27-2005 05:42 PM

Each country has their own musical movements. The new american movement is huge now, and there has been a scandinavian one in recent years which Bodom was in. They all have similarities and Bodom went from sounding like a "scandinavian" band to an "american" band.

Yeah, Are You Dead Yet? does kind of sound like it could have come from a New Wave of American Heavy Metal band.

IheartSP 09-27-2005 05:55 PM

Well I'll be damned....

It wasn't really a gradual thing lol but I all of a sudden decided I like the new album...It is still worse than HCDR I think so it's not amazing like some of you say, but I am kinda getting hooked on it. I still stand by most of the things I've said over the past few months, it has metalcore influence and it's nowhere near the other albums, but I am starting to take a liking to it.

HCDR is actually my fav album next to FTR.

Thor 09-27-2005 05:57 PM

It's better than HCDR in my opinion, but not by much. It's pretty weak when being compared to their first three releases.

IheartSP 09-27-2005 05:59 PM

I think some tracks are much better than others. In Your Face is the worst I think and I haven't heard 2 yet still but Punch Me I Bleed or Living Dead Beat are my favorites.

Thor 09-27-2005 06:01 PM

Yeah, Living Dead Beat is becoming one of my favorite Bodom tracks right now. I don't really like the long keyboard intro, so I just skip it whenever I listen to that song.

Shadows Within 09-27-2005 06:02 PM

could someone send me that song?

Thor 09-27-2005 06:03 PM
could someone send me that song?
Sure, do you have AIM?

IheartSP 09-27-2005 06:03 PM

Oh I noticed today when listening to HCDR, theres an extremely metalcorish scream in Triple Corpse Hammer Blow when he says don't push me. I never really noticed before.

Thor 09-27-2005 06:06 PM
Oh I noticed today when listening to HCDR, theres an extremely metalcorish scream in Triple Corpse Hammer Blow when he says don't push me. I never really noticed before.
One of the reasons why I don't like that song. The rest of the song is pretty generic, if you ask me. The songs that are really worth listening to on HCDR are Chokehold, Bodom Beach Terror, and Little Bloodred Riding Hood.

IheartSP 09-27-2005 06:11 PM

I think the thing about TCHB tho is that its the only real neoclassicalish song on the album.

Shadows Within 09-27-2005 06:13 PM

i also think the guitar work on HCDR are pretty good as there old stuff i dont think anything beats kissing the shadows in terms of hardness but sixpounder is an AWSOME song and the solo is actually pretty hard with the sweeps.

IheartSP 09-27-2005 07:02 PM

Everyone check out the Children of Bodom article on www.uncyclopedia.org

I used to like Sixpounder, but after hearing it millions of times it just became old.

I really doubt there are any tabs for that yet. There probably won't be for a very long time, so I would just say keep looking...

Carn 09-28-2005 03:12 AM

Hmm. I prefer the new record over HCDR, dunno. It was about time that the ditched the overly-used classical guitar influences and put a bit more metal in it, hehe.

MRDuCran 09-28-2005 05:30 AM

God, you guys do bitch alot don't you, fuck.

Taste_My_Scythe 09-28-2005 10:27 AM

I hate the fact that there is so much bickering over what Children of Bodom's style is now. Sure, some of you think they should've stuck to their PM roots, but hey. They feel like changing their style, and if you are a true Bodom fan...you'll respect that and not argue about which album is the best. They are all good in the sense that they are different. Personally, I don't understand why Hatecrew Death Roll is considered a bad or sellout album; it's catchy as fuck and the riffs are great. Are You Dead Yet? is the same. Each album is greatness in it's own right and it's own style. The band decided that they wanted to change their direction a bit with Hatecrew Deathroll and Are You Dead Yet?. You can't say that each album is the same. Hatebreeder is different from Something Wild, and Follow the Reaper is different from Hatebreeder. You can't expect a band NOT to change. Whether you agree with the change (or new direction) or not, you've still got your Something Wild and your Hatebreeder to wear out.
There's nothing American about AYDY really. The keyboards and lead style sound nothing like any American band I've ever heard.
Agreed. Completely.
I thought that the best was Living Dead Beat, but Bastards was enjoyable.
I agree with that. I love the vocals...hell...I love everything in Living Dead Beat, but I like the lyrics to Bastards of Bodom; "don't need a reason, and I won't tell you why. Just say 'go to hell! by the edge of my scyyyyythe!'" :thumb:
Anyone seen the Hate Me video..... LEGO VERSION??

I just downloaded it and it's alright. Obviously just lego versions of CoB playing. It sounds like Alexi singing and it's different to the record so he must if re-recorded it and it has a different guitar solo.
So yeah, anyone else seen it??
 Lego as in....Lego? I haven't seen it! Can you upload it please?
I think that Deathcult guy was banned for starting that spam thread.

Click "User CP" and it will show you how much rep you have.
I could never figure that out.
You guys should be banned...
Glad they were...reading this shit is making me tired.
The Trashed, Lost, and Strungout and Knuckleduster lyrics on darklyrics are all messed up, anyone know a good place to find good lyrics for those songs?
I can't find the lyrics for Trashed anywhere!! I've been looking for ages.
Cryptopsy just gave up on lyrics altogether
You know, I've heard a lot about them....but I haven't actually heard them. What are they like?
I was looking for COB lyrics...they're really hard to find.

Plus, when I thought I found them, they were really weird...
 Don't fucking believe anything you read on the internet....no one can understand what Alexi says.
you on about the new album?
