I picked up a bootleg yesterday. It has Take The Time on it. Does John always sing the first verse?

Lord of Sword 12-19-2005 04:06 PM

i like all the covers on ACOS, besides the Led Zeppelin and one of the songs in the big medley.

i have a nightmare cinema video btw, i'll upload if anyone else wants to see it.

Echleon 12-19-2005 04:11 PM

Take The Time on 5YIALT has John and Mike doing the first verse up to "I think it's time for a chhaaaaaaaannnnnngggeeeee". Don't think he does on any others apart from them though.

James doesnt sing it in Once in a Livetime, so i suppose he lets John and Mike sing it.

ghettoeddo 12-19-2005 06:40 PM

so the general consensus on DVD to get besides budokan is...the dual-disc I&W in tokyo/five years in a livetime?

I don't own either, but I hear a lot of good things about 5 years in a livetime.

I said I have heard that it was the best and that I do not own it. I don't see why the question "Are you kidding" was necessary.

Jev 12-20-2005 03:20 PM

This Nightmare Cinema vid's pretty funny. Mike and John look so out of place.

ghettoeddo 12-20-2005 08:36 PM

is nightmare cinema simply them switching instruments?

haha. "who caught the petrucci sticks?"

bwnstl 12-20-2005 09:42 PM
I said I have heard that it was the best and that I do not own it. I don't see why the question "Are you kidding" was necessary.
It was necessary, because I thought you were being sarcastic. That's how bad the DVD is. I don't see why you should be giving advice on which DVD to buy when you apparently don't own most or any of them.

 Yeah.

It's funny seeing Myung on keys, and Petrucci's a great drummer.

Apparently James's Mic broke on OIALT, so John sung it while James was getting another mic. James let him do it for the rest of the tour.

Actually, he's not that bad. I've seen loads worse around here...

I was just told that it was good, but not as good as Budokon (which i own). I was actually told this by several friends who have been into DT since the mid 90's, so I value their opinion. Whenever they tell me something is great, it usually is, so I figured why would this be different.

Discussion ended.

Go buy them.

Lord Abortion 12-21-2005 04:05 PM

Yeah, buy them.
It's so much more rewarding.

GenuineImitation 12-21-2005 05:09 PM

What was the first DT cd you guys bought. Mine was ToT.

ghettoeddo 12-21-2005 05:40 PM

octavarium.

scenesfromatheater 12-21-2005 06:13 PM

My bro has bought most of the albums and all the official live albums but I have got all the albums on me computer.

I have to say, now that I like FII, 5YIALT is an awsome live album. Now I know every song on it.

Lord of Sword 12-21-2005 07:08 PM

i bought I&W after downloading a couple of DT's songs off progarchives.com. i remember listening to it on the way home, and wondering why pull me under cut out at the end, but then the batteries in my diskman ran out halfway through another day. i thought it was odd at first, having never listened to much music with keyboards before, especially the jingle bells in metropolis, but i liked it after a while, and then bought SFAM a few weeks later.

ghettoeddo 12-21-2005 07:19 PM

^ very detailed.

ummm...i had a couple DT songs through download like pull me under, another day, home, caught in a web. i really liked them, so i bouthg 8vm the day it came out, and i loved every song on there except these walls, i walk beside you. it didn't leave my CD player for several weeks. in fact, when i saw them on gigantour, 8vm songs were the only ones i really knew, so i had no idea what they were playing ><

but now that i have every CD but the live ones and WDADU, i really wanna see em live again. this time, i'll know what's going on :]
