Which snare is better: 14" x 6.5" Tama Artwood or same size Black Panther Natural Maple?

Neither, depends on the sound you enjoy and want.



There is no better or worse in such a choice. That said, the BP just cause it's not a tama...

I want a meaty snare sound with some good body and resonance--sort of a powerful rock snare sound. I have a Chad Smith sig now and it's got wonderful crack but not much body at any tuning. I want a more powerful snare sound.

The Black Panther shell is 5.1mm thick and the Artwood is 6mm. Does that mean the BP would have a lower fundamental pitch?

But yeah I can play all the rudiments split onto any limb cleanly at a decent speed.
