Yes you did. Rory right?
Yep. That is my name :)
You seem to be the only other person on most days while I am. Plus you're a good poster <3
Give me a little list of your favourite bands or the ones you listen to the most

TakeWarning 01-11-2006 09:00 AM

Top 4 At the moment

A Wilhelm Scream
Against Me!

Biscuit_box 01-11-2006 09:04 AM

Right now I listen mainly to
CRS7
Sick On The Bus
Carry On
Fear
Op. Ivy
Streetlight Manifesto

TakeWarning 01-11-2006 09:08 AM

Haha how sick are Carry On?

A Life Less Plagued still blows me away.

albert_bass 01-11-2006 09:12 AM

My top 5 right now.

Refused
Toy Dolls
DK
Against me!
Good ol' Offspring, I love Pay the man at the moment.

Biscuit_box 01-11-2006 09:13 AM

They are brilliant. I have A Life Less Plagued, I got it ages ago and I still listen to it on a regular basis. Best hardcore album I have. Let's take a moment and thank Joe for introducing them to me /moment
Lyrics are brilliant on it too.

I don't like Pay The Man, it gets boring.

Solid album all the way through. The View is so awesome.

albert_bass 01-11-2006 09:19 AM

That's because you never played it on guitar.

Biscuit_box 01-11-2006 09:20 AM

I jsut love the power of the album. The drums like kick you in the nuts!
Gotta love Toy Dolls and their Absurd Ditties

TakeWarning 01-11-2006 09:21 AM

Yeah, the drumming is intense. I love it how he just smashes the shit through the cymbals for about 75% of the record.

albert_bass 01-11-2006 09:24 AM

Man Absurd-ditties is just...one of the best punk albums ever, as our forum list claims by the way.

Biscuit_box 01-11-2006 09:24 AM

Yeah the drumming on The View is brilliant at the start. Pity I didn't have the balls to give it to my drummer and tell him to do the same sort of thing!
It's one of those albums that you just listen to over and over. I done that alot with DBD by The Suicide Machines

TakeWarning 01-11-2006 09:28 AM

I think it narrowly gets beaten by Planet Mental as my favourite hardcore album.

Biscuit_box 01-11-2006 09:33 AM
I think it narrowly gets beaten by Planet Mental as my favourite hardcore album.
Gorilla biscuits - Start Today is my closest best hardcore album to it.
"Can't you learn to take a fu<king joke... but no-ones laughing" - Things We Say.

TakeWarning 01-11-2006 09:39 AM

Yeah Start Today is amazing, one of the most influential hardcore albums ever.

coheneran 01-11-2006 09:46 AM

I've started listening to Against Me! again, particularly Searching For A Former Clarity, trying to understand it, and understand why they sold out. Unprotected Sex With Multiple Partners is the song that is most obviously about that, but there is more, I think. Anyway, this album is intriguing me, and conjuring up some weird feelings. Not quite sadness, kind of regretful, but also self-pitying and anger.

Very touching review...I think it's a pretty good album all in all.

Biscuit_box 01-11-2006 09:53 AM

The funniest thing is when people ask you to name your favourite album or band. I usually name off about 30 'cause it's too hard to choose one, unless it's in a sub-genre e.g. I think Op. Ivy is the best 3rd wave ska band

TakeWarning 01-11-2006 09:54 AM

I don't think I could pick a favourite album, maybe band though.

coheneran 01-11-2006 09:55 AM

Easy. Favourtie non-punk album: Dark Side Of The Moon. Nothing else comes within hyperdrive capabilities of it.

RIP Ian Curtis 01-11-2006 09:57 AM

"In The Wee Small Hours" Frank Sinatra. Any day of the week.

Biscuit_box 01-11-2006 09:59 AM

I think the fact that I listen to so many different bands and like them for different reasons makes it hard to choose an overall favourite album. I would say that F.F.F.R.V. would be the most appreciated album in punk and one of the most influential. It's simply a masterpiece.

albert_bass 01-11-2006 10:01 AM

My favorite non-punk album is either RHCP - Blood sugar sex magik or RATM - S-T

Biscuit_box 01-11-2006 10:02 AM

My favourite non-punk album would be a choice between Johhny Cash or David Bowie

Unban Me Says Cameo 01-11-2006 10:06 AM
Easy. Favourtie non-punk album: Dark Side Of The Moon. Nothing else comes within hyperdrive capabilities of it.
Oh come on... that's not even PF's best.

RIP Ian Curtis 01-11-2006 10:06 AM

Which Bowie?

coheneran 01-11-2006 10:06 AM

My favourite Chili Peppers album is Out In L.A., it was my first chili peppers album (I have them all now, apart from the greatest hits, but I am boycotting anything after By The Way, and BTW only gets credit for Can't Stop and Throw Away Your Television) and I fell in love with them. Actually, it's Mother's Milk OR Out In L.A..

Unban Me Says Cameo 01-11-2006 10:07 AM

Fav non punk? This is tough.

Sun City Girls- Torch of the Mystics is up there. So is Coltrane's- My Favourite Things tied with a Love Supreme and Live at the VV Again!. But I also like Love's Forever Changes a lot and Wu Tang's 36 Chambers............. and there's a lot. I hate when someone asks for just one.

coheneran 01-11-2006 10:10 AM
Oh come on... that's not even PF's best.
The Wall, Ummagumma, DSOFTM, Animals and WYWH are all equally best, but they all give you different emotions. The Wall is terrifying, Ummagumma is relaxed, Animals is filled with self-righteous anger and WYWH is sad. But DSOFTM is so incredibly happy and hopeful, it goes top in my list.

TakeWarning 01-11-2006 10:11 AM

Favourite non-punk would be same as Albert, RATM or RHCP.

Biscuit_box 01-11-2006 10:12 AM
Which Bowie?
Probably Ziggy Stardust. I Love the song 5 Years

Drop The Baby 01-11-2006 10:14 AM
I don't like Pay The Man, it gets boring.
I think it's terrible. that and Operation MOVE are two songs i dislike and Albert likes.

My favourite non-punk album would have to be Madness.

RIP Ian Curtis 01-11-2006 10:15 AM

Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders From Mars is possibly the greatest album to come out of Great Britain. I love that album more than I love explosions.

coheneran 01-11-2006 10:17 AM
I love that album more than I love explosions.
If you are not an American that statement is an insult.

RIP Ian Curtis 01-11-2006 10:22 AM

I'm an Australian. And I love explosions a lot.

coheneran 01-11-2006 10:23 AM
I'm an Australian. And I love explosions a lot.
Whatever happened to sticking to your stereotypes?
Easy. Favourtie non-punk album: Dark Side Of The Moon. Nothing else comes within hyperdrive capabilities of it.
Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks

It pisses all over everything else except maybe Bringin' It All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited, Blonde on Blonde and Freewheelin' Bob Dylan.

I had to spend £60 on books today for my History course. I'm now the proud owner of:
Machiavelli - The Prince
Marx and Engels - The Communist Manifesto
The Autobiography of Giambattista Vico
Nietzsche - On the Genealogy of Morality
Max Weber - The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism
Quentin Skinner - Vision of Politics Vol. 1

coheneran 01-11-2006 10:31 AM

Does anyone knows if Against Me! - Justin is about that punk in some hicktown who got killed by a gang of jocks?
