If you have The Pit, then delete it then the other forums would get spammed to hell and back, most likely out of protest.
What I meant was if The Pit didn't exist in the first place then the other forums would only suffer minimal spam.

See ya Jom
As for your first sentence: I know! We both are making the same point! hahahaha.

For your second sentence, I don't think Jeremy envisioned that The Pit would turn out to be so horrific... but then again, he probably didn't envision reputation being abused like it did (I still thought it was fun, I'll admit it)

As for your ninja-edit: Adios again (same goes to Efilnikufesin and kux0) :)

CemetaryGates9 03-28-2005 11:51 AM

The thread was slowing down for a while.

I am reading crap about astral travel. Any comments on the subject?

Bartender 03-28-2005 11:51 AM

You're all (except magik, I think) looking at the Pit in the wrong way, though.

The idea behind it isn't that it's a necessary evil, because if it didn't exist, all the people posting in it would make Pit-style threads in other forums. The point of the Pit is to be a place for (not necessarily serious) discussion about things not covered in the other forums; somewhere for those who used the other forums to go for a break.

kux0 03-28-2005 11:53 AM

to make it simple. The pit=hell
R&M = heaven

R&M>The Pit

R&M=Guitar in my opinion... but the yacht club PWns all othr threads. No competition.

Kurtz 03-28-2005 11:56 AM

It'll be a sad day if the mods pull a GS on this :(

munky_magik 03-28-2005 11:56 AM

The Pit can be hilarious when the right people are posting.
And every forum has it merits, R&M is one of the worst I think though, because of the ammount of N00bs that it attracts and because of the level of flaming that occurs.

kux0 03-28-2005 11:58 AM

im out to calss also mates
later on :)

Jom 03-28-2005 11:58 AM

I'm saying that The Pit is useful because it keeps people from posting spam in the other forums... it's just that you have to wonder about people sometimes.

Cain 03-28-2005 12:03 PM

R+M attracts n00bs like no tomorrow, but plenty of them abound in the Pit, and they're meaner there. I just don't like the tone of it. I would prefer being insulted for making a stupid comment rather than saying anything and being called a "faggot" 5 million times, with another million devoted to recommendations for suicide.

Although I've been in there recently and it's not as bad as it was when CreepingBlack committed e-suicide over the Pit.

RiceMonster 03-28-2005 12:09 PM

He commited e-suicide? How?

Not to mention the number of elitists we get here.

Well first he was kinda clueless as to how the Pit was, so he made a thread (or several) which basically opened him up to the less kind-hearted dwellers of the Pit, so I suppose that was a kind of unintentional e-suicide.

Then later, something along the lines of "DBJ, IP ban me!"

munky_magik 03-28-2005 12:24 PM

Some people unintentionally commit e-suicide, and some get e-murdered.

He's in the Users Awaiting Email Confirmation group, so tell him to check the email he was sent. He should have some confirming to do.

So is anyone else having a problem with unhappy people today? Since waking up I have talked to at least three people who were in way bad moods...this is getting lame, I'm considering locking myself in my room and playing guitar all day or something...I mean, when's the last time I was able to criticize people for not having enough fun...seriously...
