That's because Omar is some sort of crazy rhythm machine.
|
^ Definitely, but I think his melodies are more bizzare.
Shakira is amazing. She's got incredible vocal control (especially while moving), a great bod, and her lyrics aren't half bad....unless you don't speak spanish.
Yeah but she kinda sounds like a goat sometimes |
^ Definitely, but I think his melodies are more bizzare.
Eh, they're not too out there, really. Rhythmically, he's all over the place. |
What about that one part where he's all:
Pewwww doodleeeedooooooo dee dee DEEEEEOOOOOEEEOOOODEEEEEdoooooo WAHWAHWAHWAHWAHWAHWAH EEEEEeeeeEeEEeEe. That one's a sick riff. |
Hey, I also wrote a riff that's like that.
|
You just ripped off Omar, then. GJ.
|
I swear! I didn't mean to!
I mean... he ripped me off! And I'm gonna tell him off when I see The Mars Volta in a week and a half. |
You: Omar :: Coldplay : Satriani
Fact. |
Truth be told, I'm not trying to sound like anyone else when I play guitar. I think it's working.
Have you listened to my album? Who are you? Former poster? Do I know you? |
How's:
"So it's on the 13th fret E, then 15th fret A, then 14th fret G, then 10th Fret E, then 8th fret D...etc..." ...treating you? Sorry I'm just defending Paramore:upset:
Touché Hey, least people are getting to remember me on forums, I've only been here 3 years. |

IP search it LOLOLOL. :smash: I'm at work at school right now writing a paper, so the comp I'm on has no speakers. Maybe later, though, if I get enough of this God forsaken paper written. |
Are you kidding me? There's way better songwriters than them out there right now. If people didn't find their singer so cute, they wouldn't be nearly as famous. Fact.
I am NOT saying she's a bad singer. She's a good singer, but fact of the matter is, if you want to be a famous band, you need 1) a sound and 2) an image; unfortunately, there's too much emphasis on the latter than the former, and Paramore has that "we appeal to pre-teen scene girls AND guys of all ages because this female singer is attractive and talented." For record labels, that means $$$, so for Paramore, that means record labels that want to plaster their pictures everywhere and get their songs on every radio station. It's the same reason The Beatles got so famous. Sure, they were incredible songwriters, but their image was what really propelled them to stardom. Without the image Brian Epstein conjured up for them of the clean cut, lovable Fab Four, they probably would've been stuck in Liverpool their whole careers. TV and the radio sucks, so comparing any band that has an iota of talent to the general spread of music found on TV/radio just doesn't need to be said. I know Paramore is more talented than Debbie Gibson. Thanks. No, I don't "hate X band because of Y months of popularity." I love The Beatles. I love Radiohead. I like Nirvana. I like Rage Against the Machine. I like Alice in Chains. I like Nas. I like alot of bands and artists that are famous. Way to just assume. GJ. Great argument to pull out. "You can't legitimately not enjoy this band. You just don't like them because they're famous." Heard it before, dawg. Just because I think the band sucks, I'm not entitled to think the band sucks? Great. Fuck me, right? Right.
Lol I'm sensing a little anger, my post wasn't an attack on you, I was just defending the notion that they're only making it cause their lead singer is cute. But if you read my post correctly I actually said "they're better songwriters than most of the poopty bands on the TV atm". I agree there are a lot better song writers out there, hell I cringe at a lot of Paramore lyrics. But if you compare to a lot of commercial stuff out there, this new album is nothing like it. It didn't go with any trend in the current scene. If anything it harks back to like post hard core or something like that. I don't agreee totally with your Beatles analogy, yeah at first it holds true, bot not for very long; they basically reinvented themselves with Peppers and after that. Simply put: if they weren't good songwriters, then how were they still successful after they stopped touring, and why are their album still classic today? Nobody is buying Beatles today because of their image in the 60's, it's because of their amazing songwriting ability. Which reinforces my idea that it's more of a coincedence that Paramore happen to have a hawt singer. And yeah you totally got me on the hating the band because they're famous :upset: Sorry dude, should've given you the benefit of the doubt lol. I just read: "fronting their shitty, overproduced music?" and it screamed "I'm so anti-mainstream I sit in my basement and listen to lo fi punk records whilst thinking about how indie I am for listening to a band that nobody has ever heard of." But you have to agree, certain styles of music call for certain styles of production. And besides, if you listen to their live album, the songs don't sound too much different to the studio. Even tonally. Here's to rational, calm discussion about Paramore :smash: |
I don't feel obligated to defend my band when I know we've done something poorly, but I do disagree with that statement.
I just don't like anything I've heard them do, regardless of their ATDI cover. Maybe they have good songs that I haven't heard, and if that's the case, I haven't heard them...
Is this in regards to your Napoleon Solo cover or my comments on your album? Idk man, I never really criticized your band. Mainly the production and vocal phrasings. They were very same same and the production was very erratic, there wasn't a lot of flow to the songs tonally. But I did say it was prety damn good for a DIY record. Bottom line is you shouldn't know if what your band is doing is good until someone/a lot of people you respect tell you. Don't take the stance that everything you do will be good. Because that will get you know where. |
Paramore is dope, I don't see any way of getting around it.

Nah, not anger. It's a debate, dawg. :thumb:
But if you read my post correctly I actually said "they're better songwriters than most of the poopty bands on the TV atm".
I guess I can agree with that, but it totally does go with a trend in the current scene: pop-rock, pop-punk, whatever the heck you want to call it. It's not exactly RADICALLY different or COMPLETELY PROGRESSIVE, but, like you said, it's certainly not 100% humdrum and standard, either.
I don't agreee totally with your Beatles analogy, yeah at first it holds true, bot not for very long; they basically reinvented themselves with Peppers and after that. Which reinforces my idea that it's more of a coincedence that Paramore happen to have a hawt singer.
Dude, the whole essence of my argument is that their IMAGE allowed all of that to happen. They reinvented their image into ANOTHER image, etc., and those images became cultural and musical icons. From Mop Tops to Hippies to Socially Aware Musical Icons, their image always played a huge role in their career. Always did, always will. Of course people still buy Beatles albums for their image. Parents have been letting their kids listen to Please Please Meand A Hard Day's Night since 1963 and 1964, precisely because the Beatles were such clean cut Brits. Similarly, hippie culture in the 60s, and indeed, drug culture today, still champion the artistic achievement and innovations found in Sgt. Peppers, The White Album, etc. as instances of positive drug images (Lucy, no matter what you say, is completely and clearly influenced by psychedellia and acid). They're still regarded as one of the most important and best bands of all time for precisely the reasons I listed. Both their songwriting skills and their images (which, as you said, evolved over time, but were still images nonetheless) secured them a place in history forever.
And yeah you totally got me on the hating the band because they're famous :upset: Sorry dude, should've given you the benefit of the doubt lol.
Yeah, it's cool. I see where you're coming from, because this:
I just read: "fronting their shitty, overproduced music?" and it screamed "I'm so anti-mainstream I sit in my basement and listen to lo fi punk records whilst thinking about how indie I am for listening to a band that nobody has ever heard of."
happens. I DO listen to ALOT of lo-fi punk, indie rock, all that jazz, but my music taste is much more eclectic than liking punk rock for the sake of being deviant.
But you have to agree, certain styles of music call for certain styles of production. If you guys spend one more ****ing page getting your panties in a knot about Paramore I am going to be really, really disappointed in you.

Today I learned that, no matter how hard I try, I'll always be a worthless human being. :(

That's probably the most important lesson for everyone to learn. Opens the door for lots of positive lessons to come.
