Marijuana is legally grown in my backyard, why doesn't the government go the one step further and just completely legalise it and sell it themselves?

They could create farms for production, there's local jobs!

Honestly, you won't see it because the majority of the population would never be alright with it.

There's not that much money in marijuana though, simply because it is a natural plant, it's very easy to grow, crop and profit.

There's also a mammoth hemp industry the Australian government could tap into...

There is when you grow and sell it in as much quantity as overseas cartels do, and when you factor in they're paid in currencies far stronger than their local. There wouldn't be much profit in growing and selling it here in low quantity because you need a good hydro set up for starters, unless you're into the rough bush stuff.

I think you'll find people who smoke marijuana on a regular basis actually prefer the bush - I know I do, and pretty much any stoner I have met has agreed.

There's a total difference in the high. If you're in the "clouds" - just smoking for the sake of smoking - chances are you would probably prefer hydro.
But if you smoke for a reason (like the fact it improves my concentration) you'll tend to just smoke bush.

Everyone I know loves the smooth weed but then again most people I know aren't weed purists, they're just putting it in the buffet with other things.
