|
this is my first post on this forum actually myfirst music-furom post well might aswell get to the point : I´am working on some Metallica songs currently Fade to Black and I would like to know how the secon solo starting at 2:33 ending 2:50 and yes i have looked throught all tabs.
I´ve mastered the first and like this one too and there is no uber fast part I consider those inposible at this point. Thanks in advance PS. St:anger suck I mean no solos what were they thinking. Kirk is my favorite member. |
go download the power tab program
|
i think alot of people think lars sux cuz he has no technique at all....... however he is the best drummer iv'e heard in metal....... he might not have traditional technique but he's good in the "hit every drum u can and make it sound good" style
|
That's because he can't hit the double bass fast. You've heard about how they double tracked Dyers Eve, right? Double bass is not about being cool, its about sonic potential. Metallica could use some double bass, it would probably make their recent music sound non-shytty.
Look I'm not trying to be a prick, but I call em as I see em. I don't see how people can rave about Lars when he does absolutely nothing special. The only reason he gets credit is because he is in Metallica. If he was in another band, nobody would give a rats arse about him. Not to mention that god awful snare. *shudder*
whaqt do u mean he can't hit the double bass? have u heard One?!?!? and i admit that was a horrible snare choice but that was for only 1 album. |

Doesnt change the fact that he couldnt do it properly for dyers eve. |
well i hopefully speak for everyone when i say i hope there next album will go back to the sound they had in the 80's
|
Doesnt change the fact that he couldnt do it properly for dyers eve.
ya that's true but i'm just saying that cuz he didnt do it right on dyers eve doesnt mean he cant do it at all |
maybe Trujillo will give their new album a different sound. i doubt it will sound like the old stuff, but hopefully it will sound different than st. anger.
|
have you heard some of his drums solos? not the one that is floating around kazaa but the live tracks you can download off of their site. pretty sweet
|
maybe Trujillo will give their new album a different sound. i doubt it will sound like the old stuff, but hopefully it will sound different than st. anger.
Hope Fully, I think they should let him coe-write a few songs on the next album, he's an excellent bass player. |
maybe Trujillo will give their new album a different sound.
that wont happen, because Metallica dont give a **** who there bass player is. No matter if they had the best bassist ever, it would make no difference at all. Metallica was never about bass guitar playing. Not even during the Cliff days. Metallica is James and Lars, that's it. They call the shots. For example Hammett is a very good guitar player, now tell me, what kind of creative control did he have on St.Anger?, did anyone hear a solo? That's because James and Lars decided to go into a different deriction with the band on the album. Not only that, but if James and Lars told Hammett to write solos for the album, dont you think he would have done it? |

I think i remember Kirk saying in an interview that he wrote some solos, but the "band" decided they wouldnt fit. Kirk is a tool. |
no he tried a few solos, but they didnt fit with the songs...thats what i read
|
in the video for one was the footage of the guy in the hospital bed taken from a movie or did they film just for that video
|
no he tried a few solos, but they didnt fit with the songs...thats what i read
those songs on St.Anger are screaming for solos |
well from what ive read and heard there a little solo on The Unnamed Feeling
|
The One video was taken from an older movie called Johnny Got His Gun...I think it was like a um....1986 movie...around there
|
I wasnt here at the begging lol but well as you guys were talking about how the Black Album was so awesome and unexpected...well that is also when Bob Rock came into the picture so maybe hes the one that got them to that point for the Black Album?
|
bring back Fleming Rasmussen, **** Bob Crock
|
Yes Fleming should come back, unless he's dead. But regardless no more Bob Rock.
|
those songs on St.Anger are screaming for solos
i bet St Anger would be up to 50% better if the songs had solos |
ya that's true but i'm just saying that cuz he didnt do it right on dyers eve doesnt mean he cant do it at all
Fine then, he can do it, but at limited speed and syncopation. Happy now? |
^^^^ true

Hmmmm I think it's a bit older then that. It's in black and white. Unless its one of those modern movies that purposely does black and white. |
I forgot to mention this, but when i saw Metallica Kirk did a lil solo when they played frantic...it was pretty sweet
|
I'm seeing Metallica on October 24th
 |
i bet St Anger would be up to 50% better if the songs had solos
and no tin pan drums either |
So it is true that St. Anger has no solos...! What have metallica done?!?
|
i'm pretty sure for the sake of their own safety they'll include solos on the next album
|
LMAO! it's so funny, because I read the first page, and it seemed like everyone was STRUGGLING to keep this alive...now look at it, 280 pages...good lord...
|
well occasionally it will reach the third page ;)

Former BROKEN HOPE and current LUPARA guitarist Jeremy Wagner sent us the following report from yesterday's Ozzfest stop in Tinley Park, IL:
"I went to the Tweeter Center in Tinley Park, IL yesterday and thought you might be interested to know that Kirk Hammett was in attendance. I heard he had shown up (METALLICA are doing two sold-out shows in Chicago on Aug. 27 and Aug. 28). So I went back and found him in a VIP booth overlooking stage — left of the mainstage. He was hanging with a mutual friend of mine so I made some small talk with him. "Kirk was totally pumped to see DIMMU BORGIR, but was kind of pissed because the sound from inside the VIP booth over the side of the stage sucked, and all we could hear were keyboards. When DIMMU exited the stage, singer Shagrath walked beneath the VIP booth, and Kirk commented, 'This guy means business… I mean, look at that ****ing cross [on the singer's chest]!' "After DIMMU, Kirk decided the sound sucked up in the VIP booth and wanted to get closer to the action, so we all went down to stand on stage left next to Kerry King's rig to watch SLAYER. Kirk commented that he had not seen a full SLAYER show in ages and was stoked about it. During SLAYER's set, Kirk was constantly nodding his head and applauding. Robert Trujillo showed up, too, as SLAYER performed. After SLAYER, Kirk went backstage to hang and then came out to watch full sets of JUDAS PRIEST and BLACK SABBATH. "Anyway, that's about it. Kirk was way cool and seems to be down with all things metal." |
Kerry King once called Kirk Hammet the most overrated guitar in history. I'm pretty sure it was in Kerrang! magazine.
Hence a bit of Slayer/Metallica feud. I wonder if that has worn off with time. |
Thats awesome....never heard anything by Dimmu though....YET!... so well...a couple weeks ago my mom drove me 2 hours to go see Some Kind Of Monster....i thought it was awesome but well Kirk was like this is BULL**** its like were following a ****ing trend because no one else is doing solos and they said something like you can try a few but he couldn't get them to fit or somethin...and that was pretty much all that was said if i remember correctly
|
yo ludacris is droppin a beat by the offical metallica thread
|
I love how Metallica is (go with me here) a metal band and....wel not the heaviest of course....there stuff a HELL of a lot heavier...but the most sucessful...and well they have the pride to do ballety stuff such as Fade To Black, Nothing Else Matters, and Hero Of The Day and I respect them twice as much for it
