Squirrel 04-30-2010 10:33 AM

They probably won't let you settle there anyway AG.

What is your degree in?
Can any of the americans explain why Canada completely rapes you in terms of employment and safety? You're pretty much the same country, so why is Canada so much better?
Culture, lack of anti-science rhetoric, importance of education, fewer fundamental wackos, no LFD in your country.

lmao lfds thinly veiled xenophobia

Squirrel 04-30-2010 11:17 AM

canada is a pretty sweet place i hope to end up there to settle

america seems nice but, i really hate to generalise, american people annoy me/are annoying/are vastly different/are remarkably stubborn about not understading anything remotely not american

its cool, it seems the majority here definately falls under all that

Squirrel 04-30-2010 11:53 AM

i'm suretheres countless lovely americans, just like anywhere, if you find the right people

but my experience and exposure to the general population of the US has only really shown me incredibly ignorant people with no cencept of any otehr cultures, beliefs, activites etc that arent their own

to the point where theyre literally baffled by simple things

Squirrel 04-30-2010 11:58 AM

also their general disability to differentiate between then and than pisses me off immensely

Left Face Down 04-30-2010 12:29 PM

No one can take a joke can they in this thread? How about this, which would be the seriousness behind the joke. Canada knows how to secure their borders and has means in place so that only legal citizens get jobs; unlike the U.S.

-----------------------------------

Blue_Moon: it would see the Marshall pedals aren't sold in the states. At least the four U.S. web sites that I know don't have them and 2/3 of the stores (didn't call the third) in my area have never heard of them.

SBT: You have an ESP LP style guitar right? What you think of it? When I get rid of my RG570 I'm thinking about getting an LP style guitar w/ Mahogany body. Playing on a LTD EC-400 (I believe) yesterday in GC and it was good compared to my former encounters. They have two, and the other one the low E string has no sense of staying in tune. This one however did stay in tune. I can't find it on their web site, but it had Seymour Duncan Designed pickups which were meh. Though It was $650 and looks like a viable competitor to the PRS SE Singlecut ($600) I was previously checking out.

Where do they find these people? O.K. I didn't know wtf the Coalition of the Willing was, but the rest I knew.

WTF @ dude putting a flag on Australia thinking it was France. ROFLMAO

Blue_Moon 04-30-2010 01:07 PM

I have an ESP Eclipse-II and my co-guitarist has an LTD EC-1000. Both are elite. EMGs aren't too bad on cleans, especially with reverb or delay

Media, Communications and Cultural studies. It's a pretty desirable degree in the UK atm but I dunno about the rest of the world.

And I have another in Music Performance and Media Management, which is a joke really.

Bruce E Kinesis 04-30-2010 03:11 PM

What sort of jobs can you go into with that?

purple_hazer 04-30-2010 03:26 PM

making bootleg rifles

Crapdragoon 04-30-2010 03:30 PM

making bootleg bootlegs

what fields of work is this degree desirable for? out of interest

Aes820 04-30-2010 05:46 PM

Pfft.
I work in media and comms.

Never got a degree for it tho.

mnemonic 04-30-2010 07:25 PM

//Ramblings of LFD

DiMarzio Super Distortion sounds better in my GRX40 than it did in my RG1570. Assuming this is because my GRX40 is a hard tail. It has a gainy PAF Pro quality to it now, a thickness that I don't remember it having before. DiMarzio Area '58 and Area '67 are kick ass single coils that make my starter guitar sound easily better than any Fender Mexican Strat you could pull off the shelves that is worth two or three times more than this guitar.

Over the course of 3 years we've been given opportunities (paid internships/volunteer work/meet and greets) with ITV, BBC, Sky etc. I think anyone who does well/is still interested in the course will be able to step straight into a research job wtih any of the larger media groups.

People hear 'Media, communications and cultural studies' and think it's a mickey.

What I really do is more 'Psycho-Analysis, Sociology and Anthropology' in the sphere of mediated texts.

I'd be pretty damn clever if I ever went to uni/gave a shat, but I don't. I consider University a complete waste of time and money, wish I had never done it, and will probably come out of it with a 3rd.

Oh and also, my university runs the best course in the country for it - requirements are now 3xA level standard at A or above, and an excellent interview. When I joined it was AAB.

You're simultaneously trying to defend your course and telling us it's a waste of time

Nah, mate.

I'm saying that my course is a great course, but I don't find it interesting at all, and therefore don't waste my time on it.

Squiggs, you're a terrible troll. I wonder what happened between me leaving in 2007-2008 when you were a decent member of the MX community to now, where you just troll.

Squirrel 05-01-2010 07:45 AM

im not trolling im genuinely laughing

i was never a decent member and you were always slightly on the weird/obsessive side like

in your own little way
