Who Are You? is a brilliant song.

Sabotage is possibly their most underrated Ozzy-era album.

Robert Plant and Led Zeppelin do nothing for me.

At all.

Hell, I sometimes go as far as saying they suck.

rippa32 09-29-2005 04:56 AM

Well there songwriting wasn't that great.(Except for Achilles Last Stand) but the talent is incredible, except Robert Plant. Oh and John Bonham is overrated. Also I agree Who Are You is brilliant, i don't care it uses a synthesiser it stills sounds great.

Lupus 09-29-2005 05:58 AM

If you listen to other songs, you will hear synthesized effects. And there's some in sabotage too I think.

rippa32 09-30-2005 04:16 AM

Well I don't have Sabotage. And really what is wrong with synthesizers?

shadow_stalker 09-30-2005 08:10 AM
i always thought ozzy sounded whiney whenever he sung. So, i picked the next whineiest vocalist i knew , and that was robert plant
I think Ozzy sounded good in the early Sabbath days, unlike Robert plant who i think sucked in every Zeppelin album i have heard him on
Sabotage is possibly their most underrated Ozzy-era album.
What about Never Say die? or paranoid

Never Say Die! is one of their best.

Paranoid is poo.

I think Robert Plant was twice the singer Ozzy was in both band's early days.

rippa32 09-30-2005 05:25 PM

Care to say why?

classicrockman 09-30-2005 06:14 PM

He's right. And Dio is double the singer Ozzy was...and still is.

Come to think of it, Ozzy's not even that good. He's just been very fortunate to be around great muscians (Tony Iommi, Randy Rhoads, Robert Trujillo, Cozy Powell, Zakk Wylde, etc.) I mean, he's alright.

rippa32 09-30-2005 10:41 PM

I can see what you're saying, hes not that great but hes got a very distinctive voice, that's why hes so famous. Also he can still sing in tune so hes not awful.

Brew 10-01-2005 06:44 AM

Useless fact - I have 5 versions of the song Black Sabbath on my computer.

1 cover version (by Iced Earth), album version, Live Evil version, Ozzy's Live & Loud version and Never Say Die! DVD version.

Plant just sounds like he is trying to have an orgasm in all their songs to me (like when on the live version of stairway i have seen when he starts going "oh, uh-hu, oh yeah, ooh baby bay")

Also Martin owns all sabbath singers vocal wise (in my god-like opinion)

geezer6970 10-01-2005 04:53 PM

is it just me or is black sabbath the greatest band ever?

i agree all the way man. but i think ozzy wrote way better lyrics than robert plant

classicrockman 10-01-2005 04:54 PM

No that would be the Beatles.

But when you're talking all genres metal...Sabbath owns.

matterw4 10-01-2005 05:07 PM

Their singles are their only good stuff but do not get me wrong the singles are great

Hale_of_Gunfire 10-01-2005 06:53 PM

Black Sabbath is a great band, my favorite songs are snowblind and paranoid, my favorite album is paranoid.

geezer6970 10-01-2005 11:48 PM

1. don't double post.
2. to get other than custom avartars just go to the users cp and check avartar option, you can browse an avatar from your pc, just make sure it is small enough and JPG or Gif file.

sorry, and thanx

rippa32 10-02-2005 03:55 AM

That Geezer avatar is pretty good. Hey guys, what's your favourite non-ozzy singer? Mine would have to be either Gillan or Dio probably Dio.

shadow_stalker 10-02-2005 06:09 AM

Martin all the way, the album Headless Cross is amazing (well not amazing on Dragonforce scale, but still cool)
how do u guys get such cool avitars?
I just searched google images for children of Bodom, then used photoshop to resize it

Brew 10-02-2005 07:47 AM

I'm too lazy to quote you all, so yeh...

1) Sabbath are the best Hard Rock band ever to come out of Birmingham.
2) Ozzy hardly wrote any of the lyrics in Sabbath, Geezer wrote the majority of them. So you could say that Geezers lyrics pwned Robert Plants lyrics.
3) I'd rate the Sabbath singers in this order, highest to lowest:

Dio
Tony Martin
Ozzy
Ian Gillan

Gillan is at the bottom because his work with Sabbath is nothing compared to his work with Deep Purple.

I say we suggest names for this thread!

Never Say Thread!
Killing the thread to live,
Thread Bloody Thread.

rippa32 10-03-2005 04:05 AM

Heaven and Thread, Children Of The Thread or Into The Thread. As for your Gillan comment brum I totally agree with you, although the Born Again album aint bad.
Never Say Die! is one of their best.

Your opinion is completely backwards.

Most of the synth effects sabbath used were incredibly fruity, as well as the fact that using a synth is just retarded in the first place.

rippa32 10-03-2005 05:51 AM

His opinion is completely backwards? Noting that it is HIS and not yours. Also noting that paranoid is way too overrated, even though ozzy doesnt seem to realise that.

Actually, YOUR opinion is completely backwards.

'Using a synth is just retarded in the first place.'

That makes you a world class retard. Go castrate yourself right now. I don't want you in my gene pool.

You're a fucking idiot. I suppose him saying that paranoid was "poo" is so far away from me telling him his opinion is wrong? He could have just said "in my opinion..." or "I don't like paranoid" but instead he chose to state his opinion as fact. You can't hold me at fault for replying in turn. I notice how you also stated your opinion as fact. Jesus, just because you didn't directly say "Your opinion is wrong" doesn't mean you're being any less self-righteous.
Generally, music is played. Try to get your head around that and we can talk.

Edit: On a completely different note, does any else hear constant burping throughtout the song "Hole In The Sky"? Around the 2:05 mark was the most noticeable, I think.
