Best moment was easily the bend where gilmour shows his teeth in CN...

Syd won't have been in the crowd...before wish you were here they mention it is for sid + for anyone else that couldnt be there.
You never know. They might not keep concert so they wouldn't've known.

guitarded_chuck 07-04-2005 01:24 PM

I really doubt Syd was there. His sister (or something) said that she told Syd that Roger was going to play with the guys at the Live 8 concert, and he never said anything. She didn't think he'd be interested in watching it on television either.

I bet he did though.

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-04-2005 01:37 PM

So are you guys still doing any covers?

magicbus 07-04-2005 01:39 PM

I am ready to record for a cover. I don't care which song. All I know is that my guitar is restrung, and I'm ready to do this thing (especially after yesterday's show :D )

guitarded_chuck 07-04-2005 01:40 PM

Off and on there's always talk of doing covers but as far as I know we haven't done any.

There's a Pink Floyd fan site with a pretty popular forum that recorded a whole Double Disk cover album with cover art and a big booklet. It's really neat, I'll go find it and put up a link.

EDIT: Found the cover album.

Actually a picture of the back cover of the album, has the playlist.

And the actual album, booklet and all.

Good site. That's where I found the Live 8 video too. BTW, I'm not advertising it. Not even a member of it.

TheSubtleArts 07-04-2005 03:37 PM

what exactly was their differances that caused them to split up for 24 years?

clearvision 07-04-2005 03:46 PM
I liked that part too, shows that they were having fun.

A few people got to go right? Med, I think?
I was there, med was too :p

robo2448 07-04-2005 03:49 PM

I didn't even get to see them on Live 8 :upset:

I was away for the weekend, but now I'm watching on AOL. I can't fast forward though.

can one of you help me. So I was listening to Breathe from Dark Side of the moon and then I watched the Live 8 Pink Floyd Version. In the Live Version the is a line that goes something like "sit down and warm my bones by the fire". Its not on the cd or is it

Flaminghotchino 07-04-2005 04:24 PM

^ yeah its on the track time, its a breathe reprise

Yes it is. But it comes after Time and it's titled Breathe (Reprise)

It's suppose to go like ...
Home, home again
I like to be here when I can
And when I come home cold and tired
It's good to warm my bones besides the fire
Far away, across the field
The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithfull to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spell.
TheCrimsonKing 07-04-2005 04:31 PM

oh thats right! thanks. See I was looking for them somewhere in the first track....thank you

Alessandro 07-04-2005 04:33 PM
They're pretty serious. As if in he's basically a complete recluse in Cambridge, so nobody's really quite sure how serious they are, but the fact that he's barely appeared in public in 30 years gives us an indication of how serious they are. :( It's very interesting if he was around at the gig last night though...just makes the whole thing that much cooler really.

If I couldn't have seen Rick from where I was standing, I would have doubted whether he was on stage...I didn't see him on the screens at all. I guess they just decided to focus on Gilmour and Waters. But yeah, Roger was really loving it, at least from where I was standing.

From all accounts MTV's coverage sucked. Not that that surprises me, but cutting midway through the Comfortably Numb solo in the band's first gig in 11 years/24 years depending on how you look at it, is one of the stupidest decisions I've ever heard.
Iīm from Brazil, and thank god mtv didnīt cut any parts from the show, no tv commercials or stupid comments from vjīs.
arguing over songwriting control, name usage, and roger's ego.
Mainly roger's ego though :-P.

slowhand 07-04-2005 04:39 PM

I got pissed when they cut to the VJs during the Comfortably Numb solo. It was sacriligious(sp?).

That's really cool

One thing that came to mind when I was watching Live8 was how the Latin American continent went completely unrepresented except, of course, for Shakira I guess since you saw in in Brazil uncut, and we in the US UK and Canada couldn't watch it without commentarty, South America had better representation than the English-Speaking world

Riva 07-04-2005 08:18 PM

I'm all up for doing the vocals for some of the songs. My flu is finally on the way out, so I'll try my hardest to get those done as soon as possible.

YEah, they had there diffrences but they are back together now and enjoying it.

ALso, I got WYWH on Friday and It's awesome. I don't really like SOYCD that much though. I thought the middle three tracks were better. I should give SOYCD a closer listen though. I would say my favorite is the title track or Have a Cigar.

*Maybe know I can do my reveiw for WYWH :o Are we still doing those, because I don't think I'll have the time to write mine.

Shazzam 07-04-2005 11:09 PM

I just got back from my cottage with no cable, so I still havn't even seen it yet (I know, I know).

I'm in the process of downloading it right now.

Welcome to the Machine is a track that I could see getting annoying, but HaC is an awesome song IMO

magicbus 07-05-2005 03:41 PM

I love every song on WYWH, some more than others, but I think they are all great.

MBS 07-05-2005 04:05 PM

Have a Cigar is a brilliant song. I find that Welcome to the Machine can get a bit, uhh.. monotonous and the synthesizers annoy the crap out of me.

But Wish You Were Here is perfection in a song.

WheepingGuitar39 07-05-2005 04:29 PM

Pink Floyd was offered 200 Million $ to tour the world, but refused.

Sykotik 07-05-2005 04:40 PM

You dumb ****ing hippie. "All you touch and all you see is all your life will ever be," isn't about materialism, it is truth. You have to appreciate life for what it is...
