I'd rep you, but I can't :( It seem like I can't rep anyone. How long does it take before you can give rep to someone again?

Silenius 11-22-2004 04:08 PM

Neither can I, but then again my rep would probably only be worth like five points :(

Cain 11-22-2004 04:17 PM
Rock on, I need some names and addys then ;)
One of them is named Chriselda, and another is named Marion...don't know anymore...will find out.

LordDargon 11-22-2004 04:19 PM

I'm going to vote Slayer.

Arucard 11-22-2004 04:20 PM

i changed my user title to a more fitting thing for me

Cain 11-22-2004 04:25 PM

It's weird...everybody with stars that's not a mod has four, except for one three-star guy I saw in the Pit. Sounds to me like mx needs to update his little bulletin about the reputation points.

Riva 11-22-2004 04:27 PM

It is 1000 to get stars, and then every 100 over 1000 gets you another star.

Arucard 11-22-2004 04:28 PM

lol
sounds like that to me too

No...Mod=5, Over 1000=4, DBJ's elite user group=3 (Only person in that category is Ren)

Silenius 11-22-2004 04:29 PM

Why not start with one star at say...250?

Arucard 11-22-2004 04:30 PM

zeppelin how u get 4 so quick

Rep wise? or day wise?

jpj 11-22-2004 04:31 PM

Man, I'm never gonna get stars. I only have 129 :(

Arucard 11-22-2004 04:32 PM

rep

Permanent Solution 11-22-2004 04:35 PM
rep
Like 3 or 4 mod reps, and a lot of user Reps...NPC gave me a neg for some reason in the pit...I mostly get positives though. I'm about 1500 right now as it stands anyways...

Arucard 11-22-2004 04:35 PM

right, i never get mod rep

Silenius 11-22-2004 04:36 PM

I don't really care about the stars, it's just nice to go your User CP and see that someone has repped you.
:)

I think Bartender repped me once, I'm not sure though because there was no note from the person who repped me.

Stars are nice recognition wise though. Some people like Medopalis get recognition for the work they do besides just being a good user. I like to think I am a good user and people tell me that I am usually. I also am starting to help with the running of S&L (my home forum) and am trying hard to improve it and make it a better place. So it is nice to have stars to sort of show that you are a good user and get recognition for that.

That's pretty true, but it's annoying when people don't sign off or write a comment. Repping should be like writers' workshopping: each meaningful post is sort of like a composition and should be critiqued as such, instead of signed off with no real comments.

Also, I've gotten a couple of positive reps that for some reason, don't feel so positive in the commentary...like I got repped "for being funny" today, and no one signed it...don't know if they meant I was being stupid and so I was therefore funny, because the post I got it for said a pretty silly thing...

/me wants to be liked real bad :upset: /

But hey! I'm at 982...getting there...560something posts...getting there, but not as quick...bah.

18 more and you get a star.

If it was early on, then it could well have been me, as I didn't bother with comments first. Actually, I'll go check.

Agreed. Star people are like the seniors that the freshmen want to hang out with, especially since intelligence is the thing valued most on the forums.

Suddenly zepfan is out of my league...he's moved on to bigger and better people...gone are the comradely days of the Ultimate Metal Band poll...

hehheh just wait till I break into the system and become the first six-star member...

Arucard 11-22-2004 04:46 PM

well im getting there alot slower.
you would think people would rep you for doing reviews wouldnt you
i have done nine, and only paranoidd repped me for it
but i respect paranoidd alot, so that meant alot to me i guess

Cain 11-22-2004 04:49 PM
18 more and you get a star.
Yes, that'll be cool. But that only means the movie got made...that doesn't mean it was good. I'm still the American version of "Godzilla" in the heirarchy, not "The Pianist."

BTW, why then do I see no one- or two-star members? Is it just that by the time noobs start posting meaningfully they have over a thousand posts and go all the way to four, and ppl with high reps but low post count are rarer and are the ones that get one or two?

Cain 11-22-2004 04:51 PM

Yeah, Paranoidd repped me for a post about Yngwie. I don't really like it when people rep me for memoaning my low post count...I'm not really the type to beg for that sort of thing. I would like to see some reps for the stuff that I've posted recently in the Politics forum, for instance...those are crafted, as opposed to being some one-off thing someone found entertaining.

Bartender 11-22-2004 04:52 PM
You can check who you rep? Or is this just a mod thing?
Just a mod thing. And it reveals that I have never give you rep (high_voltage). Sorry.

I'm not saying that I wouldn't mind stars, I'm just saying that it's not super important to me.

Bass Space 11-22-2004 04:53 PM
