and haz I'll check that out man. You have pretty good taste. My favorite anime is Neon Genesis Evangelion but I like Trigun, dragonball and Ranma 1/2. Akira is my fav manga easily.

Haz I think Ranma 1/2 would be right up your alley. It's about a father and son who are martial artists and while out on a training mission at an ancient Chinese spring they each fell into a cursed lake. Ranma fell into the cursed lake of a drowned girl while his father fell into the cursed lake of a drowned panda. Now when Ranma gets splashed with cold water he turns into a young girl version of himself and his father turns into a Giant Panda (a really cute one ^_^.) Warm water changes them back. They go to live with Ranma's father's best friend and his family. The fathers have planned a marriage for Ranma and the best friends' youngest daughter. They don't get along though and hilarity ensues.

I never said any thing about the anime being good or ambitious. I don't think the creator was pretentious about it either. The manga was good but it's not like the movie was nearly as pretentious as any of the stuff you like.

Just downloaded lost in translation for me and my gf to watch tomorrow, checking the quality of the vid atm. Opening scene showing Scarlett Johansson's arse is one of my all time favs.

i don't read much tbh; note that when i said "ugh i've read everything who needs books" i was speaking highly ironically. i think i have a basic understanding of literature and i don't care about books really.

i listen to music whenever i'm online or at school because my teachers were all getting fired due to budget cuts, so they didn't care what happened/it's high school and i only had 2 real classes.

i have only watched like 500 movies and most of them were short films like autumn mists or even a bunch of brakhage shorts. shit like eye myth (13 secs) too. and my movie taste is very unrefined imo. a lot of experimental/structural films
