... You just used my favorite '00 rap song as a example in a negative way :upset:
Well to write big hits you have to be talented they go in hand in hand, whether the talent is to write/sing/market mindless poppy catchy tunes so be it, its still a talent. You will never see an untalented artist become famous or even get signed to a record label. And I'm not disagreeing about lyrics, mainstream rap is pretty dry in the lyrics department, but to say anyone who has had a #1 hit is not talented is crazy.
i USED to like that song too. haha. whatever. fair enough, i see your point but i hope you see mine too. livewired, zak starkey is indeed ringo's son. pino palladino, the bassist, was also touring with jeff beck earlier this year in japan. |
Oh ya, I'm not saying 50 Cent is the best, not even close, I also don't think he is garbage. I have mixed opinions on that whole topic.
Zak Starkey is the drummer for Oasis also? Or am I confusing my names. |
no, youre right. he's in oasis. thats why the new who album/tour was postponed. he was touring with oasis.
|
50 Cent is easily the most annoying and worst rapper that I can name. There are many Hip-Hop artists/rappers that I prefer greatly -- Dre, ATCQ, Matisyahu (\m/), The Streets, etc
|
i thought alan white was the drummer for oasis.....at least he was at one time, methinks

Street cred + Dre behind the mixboards = mainstream success, I don't think 50 had a whole lot to do with it. I don't think he's great, but I've liked just about all his singles so far (which is the same thing I can say about Kanye West, and much more than I can say for Sage Francis, Aesop Rock, or any of the other 'underground' darlings people rave about here).
I was never a fan of much new rap. When I did listen to rap, I listened to Dre, NWA, ATCQ, stuff like that. Now, all they talk about is bitches and hoes, it kind of gets old. They're also ripping beats from other people.
That's a little hypocritical, don't you think? You can say "Well they did it first", and that would have been relevent in 1989. But it's 2005, and they're not the only ones out there anymore. |
i thought alan white was the drummer for oasis.....at least he was at one time, methinks
the drummer from yes? or is it a different one? regardless, starkey replaced someone as the drummer. he recently became their drummer just last year i believe. |
They defintaly arent the same. I cant believe they have the decency to still call themselves the who without the two missing members. But Im still going to the show. Ive seen older bands...
Townshend and Daltrey always have the right to call themselves the Who, especially when they are still putting on quality live shows and playing good music. Everyone knows and accepts it isn't the same without Keith and John, but it's still good for what it is. The replacement guys certainly aren't Entwistle and Moon, but they aren't slouches either. The Who are still a great rock band and they put on great shows. |

Wasn't he in Yes? I may be mixing up names, but I thought they had a drummer named Alan White after Buford left. New Who tour = happy me |
Alan White of Oasis and Alan White of Yes are different people.

Complete change of subject here but why was MXtabs shut down!! it was my place for TABS! best on the net IMO
|
there were legal disputes over the legality of tabbing songs without permission. www.ultimate-guitar.com is a good site though.

I went to exchange my uber small Metallica shirt today, and walked away with a black Velvet Undergound & Nico shirt  With my tight jeans and blazer, I'll be the indiest guy at my ska show tomorrow.
|
i haven't listened to Zak Starkey's drumming before, but someone told me that Keith Moon taught him how to play the drums when he was 4 and that he plays the same as Keith did.

Once I get a working camera, hopefully. Edit: http://www.8ball.co.uk/productimages/21295-1.jpg That's exactly what it looks like. |
A while back at a party there was this song that had the same organ intro as When The Music's Over, does anyone know who that artist was? I don't remember what kind of song it was, it was more of a hip hoppy type song but I'm not exactly sure. Any ideas?

Hahah Boston.
Anyways my hockey game got cancelled (after we drove 40 minutes to get there) so does anyone want to trade over AIM or MSN, or want me to upload anything on YSI. EDIT- http://rateyourmusic.com/user_albums/album_list_id_is_67378_and_list_type_is_owned |
