re-issues?
The CD issues of their original 13 albums were released in 1987, so they feature 1987 digital enhacement technology. I wouldn't say its bad, I have no problem with it, but with that said it is extremely dated tech. Practically all other vinyl era bands have had CD re-issues since the mid 90s. |
Fourth page...that is sad.
|
Yeah supposedly they are coming out with re-issues probably just in time for Christmas.
|
I really want to start getting the Beatles' CDs but should I get the versions out now or the reissues that are supposedly coming out?
Wait until the reissues come out, and wait for reviews on them to come in. Alot of times the newer versions sound really good (better than the original digital release) and other times they sound awful. |

And as I listen to Something......its been a long hard 5 years. I remember that day so well. I know many of you guys weren't fans back then, but believe me, it was so hard. So so hard. Even knowing several weeks in advance that it would be terminal. We didn't find out until tomorrow (they released the info on the 30th), but....god damn. George Harrison.........your sun will never set. And its all right. |
I've got about 10 albums on vinyl now and got a record player to listen to them finally.
|
Vinyl is the only way to lisen to The Beatles.

eh, I'm probably the biggest fans on these forums and I think I've only listened to the Beatles Yesterday and Today vinyl (even though my parents have them all). I've heard all their songs on cassette though. |
The vinyl does sound a lot better than cds but I can't be bothered :(
Sgt pepper's lonely hearts club band dunnununununununu ziomg. Man thas goood. |
While I've never been a fan of SPLHCB as a whole album, there's a few really great songs on there. I recently listened to "Within You, Without You" and realized how amazing it is. I love George's songs.
|
It's impossible to ignore some of them. Like Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite. Freaking rock on.
|
Within You Without You was the first song that really made me realize how great of a songwriter George was.
|
Only a Northern Song for me.
A great Beatles song, one of my favorites. |
So who's listened to Love yet? It's not too bad, kinda fun to see a different take on the songs.
I will tell you this though, "Mr. Kite/I Want You/Helter Skelter" is badass. |
It's gotten incredibly good reviews here and I'm seriously considering asking for it for Christmas.
|
I'm suprised to see this thread on the 3rd pageon John Lennon's death day.
He sure was great. Except for that Yoko bitch. |
Naw, Yoko was his love. I respect her for making him happy.
Here's to the most sweetest person of all time. :chug: The Sun is Up, the sky is blue, its beautiful, and so are you. |
That bitch. I liked his first wife.
|
True, each of The Beatles had a pass of at least one uber hot wife/gf. John had Cynthia, Paul had Jane Asher, Ringo had Barbara Bach, and George had Patti Boyd. And if you want to consider Maureen, Heather, and Olivia good looking as well, all the better :thumb:
|
Damnit. I forgot to post on his death day. Ah well..
|
So what's the deal with that Love thing? Is it any good or just weird crap for the sake of making more money?
|
no Beatle stuff for Christmas. Oh well.
|
I was pretty dissapointed by Love. It didnt change enough. It does have a few cool tracks, like sticking the Inner Light and Here Comes the Sun together. The most unique is probably Strawberry Fields Forever, which starts with just the acoustic demo version and slowly adds stuff untill at the end it has parts from 5 different songs going at once. Pretty amazing song.
|
If it's related to creepy french people in weird costumes, don't rely on it to be good.
/fact |
I really liked Love. My dad and I stayed up listening to it on Christmas Eve. It turned out to be kind of a special evening, but the album itself is really interesting, I thought. Octopus' Garden was far out.

Love was the soundtrack to a Cirque de Soleil show.
Here's to the most sweetest person of all time. :chug:
I've heard he was sort of an asshole in private. I don't really know though. |
Love is incredible. It kept me from getting to bed on time last night. Well done Martins'.

I've heard he was sort of an asshole in private. I don't really know though.
He maybe was in the beginning, but he had redeemed later on in life. There's very few people who say he was an asshole, mainly his ex-wife. Which doesn't say a whole lot  |

shhhhhh she didn't exist >__________> Also, speaking of Please Please Me on the last page, I've been listening to that single quite a bit lately. It's brilliance is astounding. |
Please Please Me is such an awesome song. One of my favorite early Beatles tunes.
I really love that reverb they have on their vocals for their first album. I'm sure its a result of the recording techniques of the day (lots of room ambience as opposed to close micing) but its so cool sounding. |

They just achieve it differently. |
The double tracked vocals always made the songs kind of glisten in my ears, as well as the reverb on the early singles and albums.

well duh, they use actual reverb units, have been since at least the late 60s. The reverb on Please Please Me though is much different....more faded, more lush. It actually feels like distance in a room. And yeah, back before ADT, the manual double track sounds so cool, especially on "I Shoudl Have Known Better." Has anybody else noticed that Paul gets considerably off during his double track take on "All My Loving?" I can't remember the part, but I always noticed it, before I knew about the double tracking technique. |
Off like pitch or off like rythm?
|
off rhythm

Paul probably didn't like the rythm of the song and decided to create his own.
|
Its good to see a beatles thread, they were the first band I ever got into when I was like 6 or 7. Id say I like their newer stuff more, but I like their old stuff too. You can't go wrong with Sgt. Pepper's....

Yes, you can. The middle bit is pretty boring (relatively speaking, it kicks the *** generally speaking). |
