Hey guys, I've just added a bio for Iron Maiden on mx's new CD Reviews site. That's where all the reviews are now. Tell me what you think of this:
One of the greatest and most popular heavy metal bands to ever take the stage, Iron Maiden was formed in 1975 by bassist Steve Harris. After several lineup changes in the early 80s, a more or less stable line-up emerged. This classic line-up includes vocalist Bruce "Air Raid Siren" Dickinson, as well as twin lead guitarists Dave Murray and Adrian Smith. Maiden pioneered the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement of the early 80s, distinguishing themselves from their peers with literary subject matter and considerable musical talent. They have recently released their thirteenth studio album, "Dance of Death," and continue a steady touring and recording schedule. More than two decades after its inception, Iron Maiden maintains a steady and fervent fanbase without the benefit of radio airplay or media saturation.
The site keeps having trouble, so that's the third time I've typed that bio up from scratch. Hope it satisfies the Authority.

^^ Self titled, killers, and start getting some live albums m'boy!

Ah this reminds me of a post I wanted to make yesterday but I had recently turned off the computer so I couldn't be arsed.

Do you think Maiden were better off without Bruce for a while? When you can hear Bruce on Fear of the Dark, and live albums he really sounded tired and quite fed up. However, when I hear Brave New World, he sounds so refreshed, and it's like the band is renewed in a way. So, without the Bruce break, Maiden might have been doomed because Bruce may have got worse and worse. What are your thoughts?

Lord Abortion 01-18-2005 03:23 AM

well FOTD and NPFTD were awful by maiden's standards so I can see your point here i agree totally that the break did bruce good and H too and Maiden went on to produce x-factor which was better than the previous two albums
then the two came back and all was better with BNW
Huzzah!

Ya know what i think Iron Maiden have to do soon. Play in Northern Ireland like have they ever played up here yet. It's always in bloody Dublin and with me being a protestant and a rocker there are just hords of stupid drunkin catholics waitin for ya and then a big fight erupts. Its real sad. Ps not tryin to get at catholics. Have a load of friends that are catholics.

bruce needed the break he couldnt be arsed any more. anyway it let him to more solo work, gave blaze a shot and then when he came back people appreciated bruce more, and the result was the awesome album that is brave new world

Lord Abortion 01-18-2005 07:12 AM

post number 5203 on the Iron Maiden thread

Stevie 01-18-2005 09:20 AM

That's a shame for Ireland. You know what the lesson is there? Don't be Irish.

:) Well it's our fault really with all of that :(.

Maiden should have realised that the Trooper would not have gone down well.

nooooo i got tht on release date i mean like it, like re releasing flight of icarus 2 minutes to midnight again etc

Josh 01-18-2005 02:18 PM

i doubt theyll release many more singles, but its actually up to EMI because they sold the rights for the pre-1991 songs (i think, it was something like that) to EMI, so its possible that there will be more singles.

MAthiAS 01-18-2005 02:22 PM

Any word of a North American tour?

Josh 01-18-2005 02:29 PM

not yet. they havent even announced UK dates! there wont be many dates in the US, its only a small tour (by maidens standards) as in only huge arenas and festivals (well mostly)

ashman 01-18-2005 02:48 PM

It's a shame that Maiden sold out...I suppose they needed the money to keep going...

They haven't sold out in the usual way, they have literally sold out by selling all the rights. They are still good, I'm not gonna be boycotting them or anything...:thumb:

Last Ditch Effort 01-18-2005 03:20 PM

Oh man, it would be rad to own all of their singles. Too abd they didn't release a box set of all their singles like Nirvana.

Does anyone know when their next album is rumoured to be released?

Lord Abortion 01-18-2005 03:28 PM

Stevie 01-19-2005 04:54 AM

If there's anyone in the UK there, today's Daily Telegraph has an interview with Bruce Dickinson.

floyd.the.barber 01-19-2005 05:03 AM

is there anything good in it
