I would like to post a quote I just recently read in regard to Metallica "selling out" just in case anyone is interested.

-"Lombardo feels Metallica was smart for distancing themselves from the speed metal tag, which guaranteed they wouldn't get stuck in it. "That's the position I'm in now," he says. "I'm tired of being called the speed metal drummer. There's so much more stuff I can do""

BludgeonySteve 07-01-2004 10:07 PM

'tallica=best metal band.

*leaves thread*

Does anyone else think the No Life til Leather recordings of the songs sound waYYYYYYY better than the Kill em All recordings? I dunno but i think they do. James voice on the demo is better, and the guitar sound is just so much better....o well

aSubtleDaggerSxE 07-01-2004 11:33 PM

I love napster.

peace.

ps. Metallica rules even if Lars was anal about that whole thing.

seniledrummer 07-01-2004 11:35 PM

^^^

Random :D

aSubtleDaggerSxE 07-01-2004 11:42 PM

Yes. It is my mission to enhance the general randomness of this forum. Did I mention that Haggard is the greatest movie ever made?

seniledrummer 07-01-2004 11:44 PM

No you did not... please continue.

Call_Of_Ktulu 07-01-2004 11:44 PM

They played for ages BUT they went through like 8-9 members so only het and lars were around all the time not that it matters because they kick ***.
Iron Maiden is better than Metallica today, and if it was'nt for that scene(N.W.O.B.H.M) there would be no Metallica
Dude, to go as far as saying that Iron Maiden is a better band than metallica today is just from a fan stand-point. No Doubt that Iron Maiden is a great ****ing band, no question and withought a doubt they have the BEST bassist in the ****ing world who has inspired my at playing and many other great bass players today, but they're singer gets on my nerves. Besides, look at that new Iron Maiden album.

2nd of all, It doesn't matter who happend and how metallica got together, it just matters that metallica became metallica. "And Nothing Else Matters". Metallica is the best band out there ****ing today Period

redoutlaw 07-02-2004 12:29 AM

And Justice For All

Holier Than Thou(Great ****ing song, read lyrics)
Damage Inc.
Shortest Straw

redoutlaw 07-02-2004 12:37 AM

Rather you like metallica or not, you gota respect metallica for ****ing who they are and what they've done. Metallica will always live and will never ****ing die. At least one in every 3 people know or heard of metallica. Every guitarist who has played metal knows at least 1 metallica song. That just goes to show you how ****ing influencial they are and how much they've impacted metal. Wheather you like For whom the bell tolls to One, to Nothing Else Matters, At least one song affects you personnally, and fulfills you. The one the you gotta say is that James can ****ing communicate with his lyrics, tell me who else that can impact such greatness like he did and not have any "selfish lyrics about him". One thing james does that i admire, is that he tells it like it is and doesn't bull****, hees as real as they come. Like him or not, you gotta give the tip of that hat to the guy because there is noone like um. He is the difference maker with metallica. No james, no metallica. James is the unique sound of metallica with his voice that distingishes metallica from everyone else.

pantallica90 07-02-2004 01:10 AM

kirk hammett inspired me to pick up a guitar, seriously. haha even though ill never be as good as him....and even though i know alot of you maybe dont like st anger, and i dont, but we should still support metallica so they can make some kick *** thrash albums!

hell yes. metallica has been one of my main influences in music. they truly are amazing. James is a great guitarist. his rythme style is half lead, and he sings at the same time! lars an pound foot pedals so fast sometimes... rob is just fukkin nuts... and what can be said about kirk. the man is one of my favorite guitarists ever. every time i hear one of his solos, i get a rush of adrenaline.... and i love it. screw drugs. i get high off Metallica! god speed, boys.

Thats strictly from a fan standpoint :p

I'd contest that.

Paranoidd 07-02-2004 01:07 PM

You know, I don't want to come into an official metallica thread and start flaming the band or the people posting here, but I really gotta say that Metallica fans (on the whole) have a serious problem. You remind me of fundamentalist religious fanatics, refusing to see ANY fault with your God(s). No matter what they say, do, or play, no matter how good or bad it is, you present or fabricate reasons to justify it, refusing to simply admit the truth. Theres nothing wrong with loving a band. But why do people STILL insist Lars Ulrich is a great drummer? You would say that about ANYBODY who was in Metallica, weather it was Neil Peart or Tre Cool, JUST BECAUSE he is in Metallica. Even in their thrash days, Lars was nothing special. Igor Cavalera from Sepultura and Dave Lombardo from Slayer were doing much better things around the same time period, and are still superior today.

If you connect with their lyrics, cool. Like the music? Wicked.

But please, please, don't make moronic and opinion based statements like "Metallica is the best band in the world."

Of course people respect Metallica (I sure do), but I think you all need to respect them enough to be honest with them and view them from an impartial and unbiased position and tell them when they suck.

seniledrummer 07-02-2004 01:38 PM

that's a great point, I think Metallica fans are kind of ignorant sometimes, but you know what, METALLICA IS THE BEST BAND IN THE WORLD, at least in my opinion!

Guitarplayer4ever07 07-02-2004 01:43 PM

METALLICA ROCKS and what is the best metallica song ever?

drummin_666 07-02-2004 01:59 PM

best met song ever would probably be "ONE"

drummin_666 07-02-2004 03:07 PM

who am i kidding? they're all good!

ForWhomTheBellTolls... 07-02-2004 03:21 PM

For Whom The Bell Tolls

Toozey 07-02-2004 03:31 PM

Puppets by far.

Call_Of_Ktulu 07-02-2004 03:41 PM

Anyone been at the madly in anger with the world tour? When Metallica played "one" the whole stage went up in pyro. Even the lights surrounding the stage were made to look like they broke they were hanging down from the celing. Then the spotlight came on and was on James as he played the intro. That sent chills down my spine. One is the best song live by far.

Call_Of_Ktulu 07-02-2004 03:42 PM

.....Its the best song EVER

seniledrummer 07-02-2004 04:17 PM

Hell ya! One is definitely the best song I have ever seen played live! There is so much energy! When I saw them and they started with the pyro I actually jizzed on the head of the guy in front of me.

Call_Of_Ktulu 07-02-2004 04:20 PM

Where did you see them at? I seen them at seattle two times.
