I was just thinking back today to the first time I heard The Wall. An experience I'd like back again for sure.

The Moor 07-02-2005 07:40 PM

Yeah, ABC aired Pink Floyd right after Will Smith rapping ... not how I had imagined seeing it but oh well, I got to see them play Money, my life is pretty much complete :)

Flaminghotchino 07-02-2005 07:46 PM

The First time I ever heard the Wish you were here Album.

*Shivers*

So in america they only show one song?? how lame..

Oh well Im still excited =)

lunch998 07-02-2005 07:47 PM

No they showed the whole thing on the broadcast earlier, I think.

vashts80 07-02-2005 07:50 PM

They showed Breathe, Money, Wish You Were Here and Comfortably Numb on MTV/VH1 (actually live, but they cut to commercial during the Comfortably Numb solo)

On the ABC 1-hour condenced version they only showed Money

The Moor 07-02-2005 07:51 PM

Well since we are on the topic of our "first times", I'd have to say my first time listening to Animals was a life changing experience, it has influenced the way I listen to any music since then.

Flaminghotchino 07-02-2005 07:53 PM

man echoes was awesome, but I was kinda expected too much at first, but then after a while a just sunk into it.. and the last like 5 mins... ****...I was feeling very... Emotional like..Like a spiritual expierence.. lol I know that sounds lame but I dont know how to describe really, Im sure some of you may know what im talking about, and if you dont.. Im really sorry..

I'd kill to write music that effects people like that effected me.

Dude, have you listened to Atom Heart Mother? Its another 23+ minute song, and in my opinion its even better than Echoes, but thats just me.

lunch998 07-02-2005 07:58 PM

That's what happened to me too. At first I was actually slightly dissappointed, but then it grew on me.

BludgeonySteve 07-02-2005 08:05 PM

I find that Pink Floyf songs don't have to grow on me. I either like them or I don't (usually like)

Six Foot Revolver 07-03-2005 01:50 PM

Some Pink Floyd songs I love instantly and some take me a while to get into.

Does anyone else think that the Division Bell is a terribly dissapointing album?

clearvision 07-03-2005 01:56 PM

Well last night blew me away, they rocked...

I have semi-complete recordings of both CN solos.

My phone locked up 1st solo, so i missed a bit...and iw as caught in the moment for the second one :( but i still managed to get a decent amount of each one.

Ill Mitch 07-03-2005 02:14 PM

Reunion = :amaze:

Josh 07-03-2005 02:20 PM

i watched last night's gig on TV, they were awesome. shame Roger's voice isn't what it used to be.

Ill Mitch 07-03-2005 02:24 PM

Roger looked so happy while they were playing, and they hardly showed Rick.

guitarded_chuck 07-03-2005 02:28 PM

My favorite part was at the end when Roger waved Dave, Rick and Nick in and had a kind of group hug thing. Hopefully they're good friends again.

moaner 07-03-2005 03:09 PM

i think it was very good, expecially compared to what it could've been

rumour has it syd was in the audience

Walrus Gumboot 07-03-2005 05:06 PM

When they cut in the middle of the solo in CN, I was amused (I would have been mad if I didn't have it on webcast at the same time) I found myself thinking "Solo too long for you MTV? What's that? Can't take it can you! Eh?? EH??!?"

rippa32 07-03-2005 05:57 PM

That's pretty interesting. What is the extent of Syd's mental problems anyway?

The video of the set. First time I saw the whole thing because of my **** station cutting it at Money. Wish You Were Here was very moving, and Dave sounds as good as ever on guitar.. and singing too!

Riva 07-03-2005 11:53 PM

I downloaded the bootleg (the AOL Music stream), since my piece of crap TV station only showed Wish You Were Here.

Highlights from the bootleg...

Dave sharing a smile with Nick during WYWH.
Roger's happy face during Money.
The brief shot of Rick playing like a madman in Comfortably Numb.
The group hug at the end.
Roger saying how much he missed playing with "these guys".

I hope they have worked out their differences... :)

Flaminghotchino 07-04-2005 01:54 AM

Most Underated Pink Floyd Song Ever.

Scarecrow, Seriously nobody ever talks about this great song.

If you just lay down close your eyes and listen to this, it completely takes you away.
I mean it paints such perfect picture, and I really dig Wrights playing in it.. It's one of the rare occasions where he really stands out.

led enema 07-04-2005 02:42 AM

i just recently started listening to pink floyd cuz i found a copy of dark side of the moon, and liked it. After this i saw the wall, and i was just wondering if anyone can reccomend what cd i should get next

animals, or wish you were here.

probably the latter.

clearvision 07-04-2005 10:27 AM

Best moment was easily the bend where gilmour shows his teeth in CN...

Syd won't have been in the crowd...before wish you were here they mention it is for sid + for anyone else that couldnt be there.

WheepingGuitar39 07-04-2005 10:32 AM

Hey... is it just me or was Peter Townshend playing with David Gilmour's red strat that he used during Pulse and when he played with The Who in 1996?

snorfledumpkins 07-04-2005 12:43 PM

It's got a great yet strange groove to it IMO, but it's a little too creepy when those weird noises come in. Oh and to whoever said DB was a disappointment.... shame on you... one of their best IMO.

magicbus 07-04-2005 12:48 PM

I love the show yesterday. Hopefully my dvd recorder worked, so I can watch it again. But everything was perfect. Gilmour can still sing, and play for that matter. Roger looked like he was having a great time, which is good considering their former arguements. The song selection was great. I wished they would've shown Rick a little more, but the few times they did it looked like he was having a good time.

Greatest thing ever.

That was also one of my favorite parts. :) Good to see someone else noticed that

I liked that part too, shows that they were having fun.

A few people got to go right? Med, I think?
