That's a pretty funny story, thick.
My record is a week of toking any chance I had, used a quarter pound in a little more than a week. Good times....although pretty damn pathetic. I also went on 5 trips in 5 days which was pretty damn mind blowing at the time. I don't like the Byrds but that song's incredible. |
I have decided that The Only Living Boy In New York is my new favorite Simon & Garfunkel song.
|
It's been a few weeks since I've listened to Simon and Garfunkel. I only have their Greatest Hits album on vinyl, it has all my favourite songs by them...but I get bored of listening to the same album every time. I should buy one of their albums, what's a good one?
I thought I had asked this already today, but apparently not (the post must not have went through)....does anyone here prefer Rubber Soul over Revolver? I've been listening to both albums a lot lately, so I'm just curious album everyone's opinions on those albums. And what's the name of that Byrds song that everyone says is so good? |
I used to not care for Rubber Soul but I recently discovered it in a big way. Rubber Soul has a few weak songs and Revolver is flawless.
"Wasn't Born To Follow" is the Country/Psychedelic song by the Byrds we were talking about. |
I have decided that The Only Living Boy In New York is my new favorite Simon & Garfunkel song.
You stole my favorite song:eek: I agree with you, that's such an amazing and relaxing song. Beautiful singing. Anyone else think Simon and Garfunkel are great driving music. I wouldn't usually think of them as good driving music, but for some reason I find myself putting them on a lot while I'm in the car. Odd. I probably like Rubber Soul a little more just because it was the first Beatles album I bought and has special significance. Both are amazing though. |
Lately I must say Rubber Soul has been more appealing, the only thing I don't like is "What Goes On". It's the "YellowSubmarine" of Ruber Soul for me.
Ironically Ringo sings both. |
What is so damn bad about "Yellow Submarine"? Ringo sings it very nice and has a nice simple guitar part and has some nice effects to it. It just proves how the Beatles could turn a simple song into a good catchy tune. I don't see how anyone could hate such a pleasent tune.
|
I never said it was so damn bad. I jjust don't care for it. Maybe the teachers in public school wrecked it for me.
|
There's nothing bad about Yellow Submarine but there's nothing really good about it either. I like it, it's a nice pleasant singalong but I can see how people wouldn't care for it. Both albums are nearly perfect.
Speaking of nearly perfect albums, I haven't been able to stop listening to CSNY- Deja Vu since I got it for Christmas. It's unbelievably awesome. |
Illmatic always complains about it when Revolver is brought up so I just thought "Yellow Submarine" is starting to a bad rep. I appologize if I exaggerated a little.
What's everyone's favorite radio station on San Andreas? The Classic Rock one sucks.....Master Sounds is where it's at. |
I've only played it once at a friends.

CSNY are really wierd with me. Like I like the band I just have a really hard time getting into the songs but I consider myself to be a fan.
|
I really like the folky feel to Rubber Soul, but overall I think Revolver is near perfect (with the exception of Yellow Submarine).
|
Speaking of CSNY, today I was organizing my record collection and broke the case for Deja Vu. I got a new case for it so now it looks brand new.
I spent the better half of the day cleaning my room due to stacks of albums laying everywhere. |

So since you like the band, but not as much the songs, would you say that you are more of a fan of the solo careers/ other bands of the members? I'm more of a fan of Neil Young than CSNY. It's pretty easy to tell who wrote the songs sometimes too. |
No, it's like I like So Far but I can't listen to it all the way through and yes, I like Neil Young way more than CSNY.
|
I too, obviously like Neil Young way more than CSNY, but I stil love them.
|
So the other day, Rage Against the Machine was played on my local classic rock station. Anybody wanna join me in a wtf?
|
No, it's like I like So Far but I can't listen to it all the way through and yes, I like Neil Young way more than CSNY.
I can rarely ever listen to an album all the way through, unles it's brand new and an absolute classic. I can almost go through Deja Vu but sometimes the last few bore me. During a car ride although, I find that it's easier to listen to albums more. Great Gig in the Sky never sounded better than on the way to a Navy football game. |

Right here man. What the HELL are they doing playing hard rock music from the 90's?? |
That's all I do is listen to albums all the way through. I think every song on an album needs to be given a chance, not just the ones you think are good.
|

Agreed. In fact, I find that the unpopular songs are sometimes the best ones. I listened to my new Derek and the Dominoes CD all the way through today, and liked alot of new stuff I never heard. |

Mine sometimes plays Billy Idol. Wtf indeed. Though RATM are seriously awesome. |
I don't listen much to the radio so I wouldn't know what they played. I like RATM.. Billy Idol too.
|
Radio over plays everything. Thats all my younger brother listens too, the Top 40 pop radio. Music killers, I swear.
|
Yeah its not a problem, playing RATM, but on a classic rock station?! I reitterate...wtf.
You don't become a classic rock band once you released and album 25 years ago. Classic rock is and always will be the music that came out of the 60s and 70s. np: Jeff Buckley- Lover You Should've Come Over |
so is it safe to assume that classic rock is a time period, not an age?
|
It's a genre of music. The 60's and 70's wasn't all classic rock. Dont forget stuff like disco and funk.
|
I've given this explanation many times but I'll do it again...
Classic Rock is a classification of Rock that took place in the late 60's and early 70's. It is not a genre but rather a classification. |
Basically it's an era of rock music.
