will do.

Hunger Strike is awesome. He sang the first verse too. At the Audioslave concert, Tim Commerford sang the back up part that Cornell usually does and he did well.
|
from Wikipedia:"Mercury possessed an exceedingly slight tenor voice capable of producing both very biting and very gravelly tones. His recorded vocal range spanned nearly four octaves, with his lowest recorded note being the F1 and his highest recorded being the D5 [1]. Because he maintained such an excellent tone over a three octave range, it could be argued that Mercury was simultaneously both a baritone and a tenor."
I couldn't find any technical stuff on Cornell's range. EDIT: Wikipedia about Buckley: "Known for his beatific voice of at least three-and-a-half octaves, critics considered Buckley to be one of the most promising artists of his generation after the release of his 1994 debut album Grace." |
From Wiki about Cornell: His ability to soar into falsetto and through head voice effortlessly[1] often defies many a normal singers natural timbre, giving him a high harmonic overtone or (timbre) to his voice. Indeed, his ability to "belt" a note, almost screaming it is also well utilised, giving his Baritonal range an often much louder, or "higher" sound than is actually tonally present. This is shown to much effect on Badmotorfinger's "Slaves & Bulldozers-". [2]
He fooled us all! :p |
You read wikipedia way too much..

Hehe well clownphobia got me started so I started looking up everything.

hehe, it's good stuff :thumb: |
eh. i wouldnt trust it completely on the range things, solely because of reader editing. a little bit ago they listed buckley's range at over 4 octaves which is absurd.
|
I recently got a pretty cool Grateful Dead poster! It is for there concert on New Years Eve at the winterland '78. It has a picutre of Jerry, Bob and Phil all playing then it says N.R.P.S and The Blues Brothers underneath indictating that they opened. It also sayd that breakfast is served at dawn.

If you like that, get London Calling next. |
What Oyster Cult album should I get?
|
If you like that, get London Calling next.
London Calling was actually the second album I've ever bought. Took me 4 years to actually get into it. :p |
De La Soul - 3 Feet High and Rising
]Get this then send it to me!
|
Send it to me too.^
I just listened to it a few days ago, I really like it. It's one of the very few Punk albums I can sit through and enjoy. I can only listen to it once every few months though.
What Oyster Cult album should I get?
None, I recomend you get Village Green by the Kinks instead. :p |

I already do and I heard one song of 3 Feet.... and really liked it. I'm not sure ow the rest of the album is. I really want Midnight Marauders by ATCQ though. |
Easy Rider was very cool. Does anybody know what album that Byrds song is from? I like that country-ish stuff better than their radio stuff.
|
I don't know what song you're talking about, but Sweetheart of the Rodeo is their country-ish album (Gram Parsons wrote and played on most of it) so I'll guess it's from that album.
|
It's easily thier best song, I mean how many songs are psychedelic country?! NRPS couldn't have sounded this good. It's called "Wasn't Born To Follow", it's from Byrd Brothers, the album sucks but that song is incredible. I've been talking about this song for along time in this thread but no-one seemed to care. :-/

I thought Easy Rider was only good from the time Jack Nicholson was introduced until the time he was killed. I think if I was around when it was new and saw it then, I would've thought more of it. It's not a film that ages well, at least from my point of view. |
Thanks Ray I'll check out that one.
Schyma, it is a really cool song isn't it? I love when the flanger kicks in. I imagine that would be pretty scary if you were watching the movie high. NP: The Flying Burrito Brothers - Dark End of the Street |
"Flanger"? Is that what that effect is called? I don't know about being scary but it's one ****ing trippy as hell effect when you're stoned or drunk, hell it's trippy as hell when you're sober!
|
Yea when it goes from country straight into psychadelic, that's a flanger.
NP: The Band - The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down |
I loooove flange. My old guitar amp (I still use it to jam with friends) has reverb, delay, chorus, and flange settings on it...it can produce some really, really trippy sounds/songs.
I've never seen Easy Rider before...I want to though. I'll check if the library has it tomorrow. I actually don't really like The Byrds...they just don't seem real enough. They have a lot of listenable songs, but there are countless other bands I'd rather listen to. Heh heh, last night I made it through a police stop-check with about a half-ounce of pot on me and my friend had some oil....I had no license or registration on me, and my brake lights didn't work. The cop told us we reminded him of the kids from Dazed and Confused, then he imitated a teenager saying "there's the fuzz, hide the ****!" It was pretty funny, but I was extremely stoned so I was trying not to laugh. And I was worried about them noticing my brake lights. I got off safely though, I had to drive away without using my brakes so they wouldn't notice the lack of lights. |
