When I used to cut my hair, the barber would sort out my hair very nicely. I went to that same barbers for years, but now I've stopped.

Shred Danson 05-09-2005 01:07 PM

I'm thinking of trimming mine up a little...just to make it grow faster. It's been at the same length for months; 2 inches past my shoulder.

zepfan - nice list (for the most part, anyway :)).

So I'm playing in this talent show on wednesday, and it looks like I'm doing three songs: Wish You Were Here, maybe a Clapton one, and playing guitar for a kid singing "Lean On Me". So that'll be awesome, and I can't believe I was still allowed in, considering it's in two days.

I think you have your Clapton song right there :) (That's what I would do at least)

Bartender, obviously I'm not offended you don't like all the choices, but I am curious as to which you don't :) (Anyways it was mainly the insanely cheapness of said purchase :))

Dancin' Man 05-09-2005 01:47 PM

My dad has always cut my hair. He does a pretty good job.
Who wants to see pictures from my bands (minus the toher guitarist because he had some state track meet he neglected to tell us about) photoshoot today?

Note to Zepfan - What a steal. Dredg was my favorite from that list but ATDI and SOnata Arctica are also great. I like THrice a bunch but haven't heard that album. The rest don't do a whole lot for me but for under $45, I'd take them all.

Yea I would really love to do Layla, that song rocks hard and it would be a blast to play. The only problem is that due to the short notice, I wasn't able to get a whole band together, so I'll probably just be doing acoustic.

There's always Layla unplugged ;)

Thread almost gets closed down, and some people still haven't learned.

Today I went running...again. I used to make fun of runners, but there's something very...I'm not sure what the word is, exactly. There's no one else around, there's no real point to it...you're just running. It's just you and your thoughts, plowing straight ahead. It's a great way to take a load off. I also shot some hoops today (gotta keep sharp, even though I don't plan on playing competitively).

Then I showered and went a used CD store and got:
The Roots - Phrenology
Jaco Pastorious - self-titled
Temple of the Dog - self-titled

For about 22 bucks.

Also, I talked to my friend and she told me about some of the colleges she got into. Pretty decent list.

Dancin' Man 05-09-2005 01:57 PM

My friends all run (trackies) but most of them do around 10 miles a day. THe endorphins are supposed to kick in at some point and you feel like you can run forever. I have never ran more than 2 miles at a time and don't plan on doing more anytime soon. Ballet gives me all the excersize I need.

Well RATM's self-titled is a great record, as is Rust in Peace. What I've heard of ATDI is pretty good, as is the one song I know by 30 Seconds to Mars. I don't own, nor have I heard, Reckoning Night, but I like Sonata Arctica in general. Thrice, as I think I've said to you before, I'm not that keen on at all, except for the odd song.

Ah yeah, it's an eclectic mix, so I figure most people wouldn't like everything I chose, but I do :D The Thrice album is just a few B-sides, unreleased things and a DVD, which is supposed to be awesome if you're into the band, though I haven't had time to watch it yet.

I didn't know you had a chick in your band? I've had horrible experience with it but if it works for you awesome hah.

Wow, I can actually comment on all of them. Kind of.

I actually own the first two..but I thought you didn't like The Roots?

The Temple of the Dog album is surprisingly good, though. I haven't really listened to Jaco Pastorius enough to form an opinion yet though.

Illmatic 05-09-2005 02:04 PM

Ballet?

Hahaha...fag.

Nah just kidding. Ballet's certainly not my cup of joe, however.

I don't like dancing in general, actually. Supposedly I can do it well because I'm black, but I've never tried it.

I don't keep track of how much I run, I just run until I feel like I don't want to anymore--so obviously, the amount I run varies from day to day. When it comes to solo exercising, it's all about shooting hoops for me. It doesn't seem like a lot of exercise, but it definitely adds up, especially when you do it for hours at a time like I do.

I also learned "Don't Follow" by Alice in Chains today on guitar. It's not a hard song, but it's fun to play anyway.
I actually own the first two..but I thought you didn't like The Roots?
I wanted to give them another try.

Dancin' Man 05-09-2005 02:14 PM

Vince - She's been our bassist (the female role in any band) for about 2 years now. When we began it was just the three guys as ex bandmates form a different broken up middle school band. We needed a bassist badly and she's pretty good and really easy to work with.

Ray - Ballet. I've been doing it for 8 years now I think. It's good excersize and if you're a male, very cheap. Lots of scholarship opportunities. All black men dance well. It's the law of nature.

Fair enough. What do you reckon to Phrenology, then?

I bought it because it was cheap, really. With the exception of a few songs, not much of it seems to really stand out. Some of the tracks beside those are pretty good though, so it's not a bad album. Just not a great one.

Illmatic 05-09-2005 02:17 PM

Hey, I'm already IN college, I don't need no scholarship. And I realize it's good excercise and heck, even Babe Ruth did it, but it just isn't something that appeals to me.

I like it...I'm starting to warm up to them a little more.

And I disagree, "The Seed 2.0" is a great song. "Thought @ Work" and "Water" are both very good as well.

ATM 05-09-2005 02:19 PM

The Roots are amazing live.

I saw them with Cody Chesnutt, and he did a 15 minute Hendrix-style solo that was so good.

They also covered Apache by Sugarhill Gang :)

They also cover Nirvana and Led Zeppelin.

Hello all. After waiting in the rain for an hour, I managed to get a key to got into my house. How is everyone?

Illmatic 05-09-2005 04:52 PM

Wow.

I was searching through some boxes in my basement, and I found an old picture of me and my dad going to a White Sox game. I was probably four or five years old, and we both had big grins on our faces.

I honestly choked up.

I remember the one time I went to some no-name barbershop by my house and I got a side comeover. It was one of my more awful hair presentations. As soon as I walked out that door, I definitely had to fix that up so I didn't look like I was walking out of the '40s.
Hahaha , a side comb-over, that cracked me up.

But yeah, like bartender, I don't really get haircuts, mostly just getting the ends cut off, but that's hardly a haircut.

Haha, side comb-over.

I grow my out for a few months, then get it shaved basically by my friends. Its easy and doesn't cost anything. Plus its hard for them to mess up shaving a head.

I grow my hair past my eyes normally, and then my parents make me shave it off, cause I got dreads last time I grew it out :(.

Mine's getting long, but not down, like afro-ish. I'm going to get it trimmed...

MalcolmYoungRock 05-09-2005 05:32 PM

My hair's funky.

The front part, the bangs or w/e I keep to the side and they're about the length to my eyes.

The middle part covers my ears.

And the back is about down near the end of my neck.

Last time, I got a haircut, the barber was an ignorant cunt.

I'm never going back there.
