Left Shoe 09-13-2004 11:22 AM

nleh id say emo with a hint of screamo , because thats not what i would consider regular emo.

moxshyfter 09-13-2004 11:41 AM

Crappy?

LightRaven 09-13-2004 11:58 AM

Back from retirement eh? :)

Good to have you back mox.

On another note, that house we were buying/supposed to buy... we had a home inspector go through the house with us to find out everything that is wrong... and well.. he found alot of **** that is wrong. :(

The roof needs replacing, some of the plumbing is wacked, and (get this) the guy re-wired his house using spliced extension chords.. instead of just going out and getting electrical wiring.

But thw biggest no-no... the boiler. Yes, there is a boiler in the house... a big enough boiler to heat a seven story building... and an old enough boiler that if it were to go.. it would take out a few city blocks. AND the guy did all sorts of modifications to the boiler too!

So... here I go looking for more houses.. when I get home, my mom spoke to our realtor, who spoke to their realtor, who said that they'd probably spend the money to fix the house. Which is.. about or more than $10,000.

Whoo!

...... who wants a boiler that could be considered a weapon of mass destruction? Oh no.. the CIA might be out for us..

Moose_Malloy 09-13-2004 12:02 PM

moxshyfter 09-13-2004 12:02 PM

Yeah, metal has just been sucking major *** lately, and all these Hot Topic wannabe bands really piss me off. They all suck!

LR - I've been back for a little while. :) I just miss playing bass every now and then, and our band is basically going to ****, so I have to satisfy my urge somehow!

LightRaven 09-13-2004 12:11 PM

Still good to see you back mo :)

Anyway... the casual thread seems to be getting a bit too much spam ... page 38? Geez. So how about I start a random discussion on a serious topic.. that has nothing to do with bass. :D

Lets see. Ooo.. I know.. something that hits close to home for me... Inter-racial relationships. :)

I am in an inter-racial relationship. I am white, he is black. Now, to me, skin color and even cultural differences have never been an issue with me. I mean, first, I was raised in a city, went to school with all types of races (my brother used to make fun of me cause I had like.. 2 white friends)... and when I am with my BF, I see no difference. His skin color doesn't glare out at me as being wrong. Even when I see us in a reflection, hugging or something... it still doesn't glare out as "wrong" to me.

No one has said anything to us thus far... although a few times we've gotten a few weird looks. I mean.. I'm very pale, and he is pretty dark.

What are your thoughts? If you don't believe that races should mix, please provide your reasons why...

:)
LR

Moose_Malloy 09-13-2004 12:14 PM

you cancel eachother out :)

seriously, colour is really no barrier, as long as you love eachother, then its fine :D well..and as long as your not related to any of the Klan...
(i live in a slum so i knowthe colour thing..yet again, englands good for inter-racial problems, IMO)

ShelBel 09-13-2004 12:17 PM

I personally have no problem or issue with inter-racial relationships. I've dated a black guy- he was really nice, and the reason that I decided not to continue had no bearing whatsoever on his "race" (I was sort of in another relationship at the time; hindsight being what it is, I think I would've been better off dumping the other one!).

Love is love- regardless of race, religion, gender, or what have you. IMHO.

peeted 09-13-2004 12:18 PM

why shouldnt races mix, the onley difrence is skin colour and thats such a trivial thing any way.

Moose_Malloy 09-13-2004 12:18 PM

yeh, i wouldnt mind a coloured girl..i wouldnt mind ANY girl..
*feels alone*

Anyone willign to love a moose? *puppy eyes*

moxshyfter 09-13-2004 12:23 PM

But, one observation I have made - you almost NEVER see a white guy dating a black girl. It's almost always a white girl and black guy.

White girls more open minded? Black women not attractive? What is it?

Moose_Malloy 09-13-2004 12:25 PM

good point...
*thinks*
your right...weird that. maybe us nice guys dotn get noticed as much?

Wintermute 09-13-2004 12:27 PM

There are virtually no black people in my town, but there's never been any issue with Caucasian/Asian/Indian relationships here.

Personally I don't see any issue at all. When you get right down to it it's just a matter of Melanin levels. Why let pigments dictate what you can do?

Wintermute 09-13-2004 12:28 PM

Careful, that comment could be taken in two ways.

Moose_Malloy 09-13-2004 12:29 PM

what you mean? (im an honestly, worried, way)

moxshyfter 09-13-2004 12:29 PM

Actually, the genetic code becomes stronger and we are immune to more things the more mixed together our races are.

And I'll be glad to take that boiler off your hands.

The latter.

I have several black friends who agree with me...and actually prefer white women...

Black women are often the stereotypical, loud, obnoxious, overweight, disgusting women. It's very rare to find one who looks good.

That being said, one of my good friends, who is white, has a black girlfriend, who is hot, and intelligent. Score for him.

Maybe I'm being daft... but he was talking about colour and you brought in niceness in a way which implied racism? Ah, I don't think you meant that, I'm probably inferring too much. Forget it.

moxshyfter 09-13-2004 12:33 PM

 x 3

I hate to say it, but I completely agree. But, I have a friend who is gay, straight, bi sexual, and then gay again on a regular basis, and he is white, but has had sex with black women and men. He prefers black people to white.

Maybe he just needs them "bigger" or something, I dunno...

Black women sometimes tend to have the "black men should be with black women" mind frame. They are brought up that way....

LR

moxshyfter 09-13-2004 12:35 PM

Winter - Don't take any of this as racism. I have absolutely nothing against any colored people, or any non-colored people (at least, on a basis as shallow as skin color anyway). One thing I do hate though, is people that try to turn you into some offensive criminal for simply stating the facts.

 j/k with yah man.

Lol... You know, in highschool there were quite a few black girls who were upset with me because my best friend was a black male. We weren't in a relationship (although, had both of us not been in a relationship, we would have most likely been together)... but there were some black girls who felt threatened by the fact that a black guy was best friends with a white girl.

On another point... black men tend to be attracted to the same types of white women, ones who are pretty fair, have a big *** and a big chest. They don't like skinny poles, and they don't like women who don't have a good amount of curves. On an observational note, I've seen them tend to go for the brunettes and red heads... and not blondes.

Big ***, big chest, red hair= thats me

I am hit on more times by black men and older men, then white guys. I have also found that black men are friendlier and less threatening when the hit on, or compliment a girl, then white guys.

True Examples:
Black Guys:
Hey, you have beautiful eyes.
Hi, sweetie, how are you?
etc.
I mean.. there is the occassional "**** baby you look fine" etc.. but compare that to this:

White guys:
I want to **** you in the worst way
(said to a male friend I was with) Yo, how much for the red head? (I was pissed!)
Can I eat you out? (this happened two weeks ago  I didn't even know what to respond with!)

So... from my experience, the black guys who hit on me tend to be sweeter in the attempt.. and as you can see... the white guys can be down right nasty... O.o

LR

LightRaven 09-13-2004 01:08 PM

and now I must teach.... be back tonight guys...

Left Shoe 09-13-2004 01:12 PM

buuh bye , and interesting story with the white guys.

Jamie 09-13-2004 01:20 PM

interesting!

Not many black people around where i live at all. we have indian, asian, etc. but not black.

Could anyone answer this question for me as i didnt want to make a thread asking as people would nag saying 'but its a bass forum!'

anyway, i kind of want to start the trumpet to add to my bass and guitaring, what i'd like to know is whats it like to play, is it fun, what musical possibilities can i get out of it? (eg. can i play jazz, funk, ska, etc. from it) and where can i find the cheapest possible one (im UK) i dont mind second hand. Im looking at around 50 pounds for one.

thanks.

ps. hey LR ive never seen you before, i always wonder what certain people look like! gotta pic you could post?

Left Shoe 09-13-2004 01:21 PM

Jamie 09-13-2004 01:24 PM
