Man, I can't wait, ten more days 'till Dream Theater. All those setlists look awsome, but I hope they don't play as much Octavarium stuff. Having The Mirror and Lie together seems like it would be awsome.
I'm pretty sure they played 4 songs off Octavarium on this tour.

Octavarium
Walk Beside You
Sacraficed Sons
Root of All Evil

thunderzstruck 03-18-2006 09:50 AM
John has a beard? WTF?
I much preferred his spiky hair with blonde highlights.

Even better, I preferred his long hair.

Jev 03-18-2006 10:12 AM

Labrie's a few years old than Mike, Myung and Petrucci right?
Rudess is about 50 now.

ruddess was sportin a beard type thing too

I did not realize how fast, technical all their parts were until watching all of them just fly across their instruments, its something you ahve to see

On some songs they never stop flying around

Oh, thats actually not to bad. Hearing the song Octavarium will own, of course. I hope they replace I Walk Beside You or Sacraficed Sons with Panic Attack, though.

Shattered_Future 03-18-2006 11:25 PM

I want to rub my balls on Petrucci's guitar...

Darkness 03-18-2006 11:27 PM
I want to rub my balls on Petrucci's guitar...
It's a nice guitar... but dude, thats not cool.

Shattered_Future 03-18-2006 11:30 PM

Exactly. So he'll have to get rid of it, because nobody wants a guitar that has had balls rubbed on it. Then I can take it.

White 03-19-2006 01:22 AM

I really actually hate the look of his guitar lol. the colors and shapes are ugly. But Im a drummer so i really focus more on Portnoys stuff than petrucci's. But I must say he is an amazing guitar player lol. its just mind blowing.

Juicy_Forlorn 03-19-2006 01:38 AM

Are Petrucci's guitars smaller than most other guitars, or is it just me?

Arpanet 03-19-2006 01:43 AM

Just got back from the Chicago show... one of the best concerts I've ever been to. Completely sold out. Near the end of Home, Portnoy goes into a drum solo. He builds it to a climax, then goes "you know, this drumset is too big for one person." Then Charlie fvcking Benante from Anthrax comes out and sits down on the other half of Mike's kit. They solo together, have a little duel, then start playing a bunch quick covers. It was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Here's the setlist:

Root of All Evil
Another Won
Take the Time
Innocence Faded
Peruvian Skies/Wish You Were Here/Wherever I May Roam
Raise the Knife
Home/Drum Solo/Walk This Way/YYZ/6:00 (played perfectly by Charlie)/Raining Blood
---------
War Within My Head
The Test That Stumped Them All
Endless Sacrifice
I Walk Beside You
Octavarium
---------
Wait For Sleep
Learning to Live (w/ extended jam)

Kinda disappointed that the only song from Awake was Innocence Faded, and the only song from Train of Thought was Endless Sacrifice... but whatever. Amazing show.

TheOpethAffinity 03-19-2006 01:47 AM

Woah, they played raining blood??!??! by slayeR??!?

ghettoeddo 03-19-2006 02:00 AM

..they played INNOCENCE FADED?! what the hell?
dammmnnn...

anyway, i personally love the look of his guitar (especially the color) and im looking into buying his sig 7-string soon :]

i dont have the video of acoustic another day saved...it's on youtube. sorry

the man has 17 or so guitars on tour at all times, so why not?

Arpanet 03-19-2006 02:10 AM
Woah, they played raining blood??!??! by slayeR??!?
Yeah, about 30 seconds of it. Just the intro and the main riff.

I've seen that, its really good, but JP's guitar tone sounds awful.

Jev 03-19-2006 10:06 AM

Woah, I missed that YT video.
That is brilliant. Qualities a bit dodgy though.

National chaos sam 03-19-2006 10:48 AM

Nah, I played on an OLP signatue and it was pretty much standard size, but its not the real thing though....

They played anohter won? that mustve been sic.as.hell
my favourite majesty song, by far.

ghettoeddo 03-19-2006 12:06 PM

i think the OLP is a pretty good replica of the original. i played the OLP too. unplugged cuz the input jack was hanging loose :(

Jev 03-19-2006 12:54 PM

<3 for Mike's high singing in that.

Arpanet 03-19-2006 01:18 PM

Someone with a better memory than me helped out with the drum solo covers list on the DT boards... went like this, I think.

Twisted Sister - We're Not Gonna Take It
Led Zeppelin - Rock and Roll
Aerosmith - Walk This Way
Rush - YYZ (full band kicks in at this point, though the Johns and Jordan were offstage)
Anthrax - Indians (played by Mike)
DT - 6:00 (played flawlessly by Charlie)
Maiden - Run to the Hills
Slayer - Raining Blood

They've done it before, I have the bootleg. I'll send it in the morning if you want it.

Lord Abortion 03-19-2006 02:46 PM

I love the Exit...stage left live version of that.
Neil sounds so bloody good.

Firecracker 03-19-2006 03:04 PM

I wish they played Take The Time when i saw them, my favourite song by them.
But i would really love them to play Status Seeker aswell.

Lord Abortion 03-19-2006 03:10 PM

I will see Dream Theater when they next tour.

If it means missing Degree exams, relative's funerals, sex, whatever...I WILL SEE THEM!

And if you don't get tickets, I'll smuggle you in. As a bottle of water. A giant bottle of water. Somehow. Full Stop.
