I'm sorry, masterchaos, though I too like them, they are not BM. They are symphonic metal/melodic death metal.
so masterchaos tell us why they are black metal
Whoa answering a question with a question...that must've been a tough one. Blast beats, tremelo picked minor chord progressions, raspy vocals, occult/pagan/demonic overtones that compliment the already dark and "frozen" atmosphere, the not-always-but-sometimes use of synths (more symphonic yes I know), etc IT SOUNDS EVIL!?! Christ, its black metal and at least I gave an explanation. Now you give yours of why they aren't Val you do bring a good point though. I think up until Defiance of Existence they are black metal, but IDoE I would agree more with melodic death. |
Yeah, but no one here likes them and the only other person that does agrees with everyone else that they should be kept out of the black metal thread. So please... just don't talk about them here.

=/= black metal. |
Overly clean production, Major Label success, mainstream marketing, offshoot of another non-BM band, etc. etc.
Not black metal. |

Not black metal.
How are those valid reasons that define the sound of a genre? And actually Galder started OMC before he did Dimmu. |
Actually, still doesn't make it BM so quit talking about it.
|
Wow, Im very impressed with the logic. Just because all the "regs" hated you with your other accounts doesnt mean you have to stoop to their methods of discussion dodging...but its cool, enjoy.

You're in you're own little world where OMC is a black metal band. |

You flaming idiot. I gave you specific reasons, and you choose to avoid them and correct me on something which still does not prove your case. Go away. Everything about OMC is anti-black metal. The production, songwriting, marketing, commercial success, overall sound, etc. And simply because it's anti-christian doesn't make it black metal. Unless, of course, Deicide is black metal to you, in which case I'd give up all hope on ever becoming a knowledgable human being. Do you hear, see, or know of ANY resemblence between OMC and Burzum, sound or otherwise? If you do, you're fucking hallucinating. |
You're in you're own little world where OMC is a black metal band.
OMC imo is one of those bands where its formally considered a black metal band like Cradle of Filth but the actual music doesn't grant that merit. so basically yeah its best to end the discussion here. This can only lead to another page of BRAttack. |

Being on a "mainstream" label, because one of the members is in a shitty band that spawned AFTER the band in question, and good production?? I just dont see how those could affect the style of music a band plays. Like I said though, its cool. I will continue to enjoy my Old Mans Child and Nagelfar esq BLACK METAL to Axl again: Just because a band doesn't sound exactly like the other, doesn't mean they belong in seperate genres. |
Blast beats
Jazz is black metal.
tremelo picked minor chord progressions
Classical guitar is black metal.
raspy vocals
Tom Waits is black metal. Also Duran Duran are black metal for their unholy and blasphemous use of syntheslayers. |
I love me some Elim.
|
lol @ tom waits is Black Metal
|
For masterchaos is a nig nog, too.
|
Word.
I mean, what isn't more black metal than being hungry like the wolf? |

Clerks II ftw. |
what
|
I was just assuming you got that from Clerks II. Its one of the many racial slurs in that movie.
|
Oh yeah I totally got that from Clerks.

I will continue to enjoy my Old Mans Child and Nagelfar esq BLACK METAL to Axl again: Just because a band doesn't sound exactly like the other, doesn't mean they belong in seperate genres.
Being on a major label is in direct contradiction to the obscurity black metal seeks. Most of the black metal community regards glossy production as untrue to the genre's roots. And OMC plays pretty much the exact same style as Dimmu Borgir, which we have already established as non-black metal. ..in addition to the fact that anti-christianity is not a merit of black metal. By that definition, since Corey Taylor has a dislike for Christianity, SLIPKNOT IS NOW BLACK METAL GICE WOW THIS IS GREAT ITS WHAT ENCMETALHEAD ALWAYS DREAMED ABOUT YAY!!!!!! |
Matt, delete that post. We're done with that whole argument.
|
You guys like Skeletonwitch? They're totally wikkid.

So am I. There's nothing left to say. However, I will let the post stand because it is full of relevant information for ill informed listeners that apparently still exist. 3rd Matt: Shut up. |
August Burns Red anyone?
|
Stop posting random shit bands that you like in threads that don't have anything to do with them...

Idk, BM production these days isn't all that bad.
