it sounds very interesting. the only philosophers that ring a bell with me are plato and locke, but it sounds very interesting indeed. is the mystique that surrounds philisophy true, do you really need to be super smart to study it?
I don't think so. The mystique surrounding it is the best bit though. It's the same as with Psychology. |

Yes, it is an aura of mystery that Barteder wears like a dark cloak... |

yeah, this gu at my school got called up for winning a scholarship for philosophy at melbourne uni or some such place, and he was greeted with reverent "ooo's" and "aah's" and people were almost afraid to talk to him for fear of being intellectually destroyed. what careers can you be looking at after a philisophy course? |

I've no idea. The main things a philosophy degree gives you, hopefully, are nothing to do with work, they're just personal. Apart from teaching the subject or being an author on it, I don't think it leads into anything in particular. Very non-vocational. Booklets and things tell you that it leads to opportunities in management and journalism, but that's only because you wrote plenty of essays and had to organise your thoughts a lot, which almost any Arts degree will do. I personally have no idea what I want to do with it. I just took it because I like the subject. |
:naughty:
heh...ive always wanted an excuse to use that smilie... |

I'm studying fiction and history, with cool varieties. For instance I just finished a class that's basically "spy class" called the History of Espionage. We do everything from the Hitler assassination attempt to learning how the CIA works from the ex-Deputy Director of International Operations William Price. Badass, but that's SLC for ya: really cool relevant classes. Instead of ****.
What unis do you guys go to? |

Hot people make friends with hot people. Therefore, according to this general rule and the pictures of her friends I've seen, they are. :thumb: They are. |
