That was funny seeing April Fool's Joke in huge font as the page opened. Thank you though, I'm getting really sick of talking about that crap.

Sorry, it just pisses me off how people won't let certain things go, especially after they have been discussed to death.

Kage 04-07-2005 06:12 PM

I agree wholehartedly. For awhile we had at least 2 people a day coming in here and asking about it.

The JoZ 04-07-2005 06:20 PM

I mean, when people are posting articles about how false it was...yeah...

Besides, I feel that no true Tool fan would've fallen for this.

Magicaltroll 04-07-2005 07:13 PM

I know, seriously, that was the worst, most unconvincing thing I have ever read/seen.

The JoZ 04-07-2005 08:17 PM

I mean, I first thought the thing with Head from Korn was a joke too. But it quickly became apparent that it was real.

...If this, or any other bizarre/surreal news involving Tool was real, we'd know it was real pretty fast too.

I think we would know because well when Head left there were tons of threads done about it. I have a feeling more people would be pissed about MJK leaving Tool then Head leaving Korn.

But anyway, not to ask twice, but does anybody know about the tour, or where I can go to get information about it? I just really want to see them live I have heard they put on one hell of a show, and the live stuff I have off Saliva is too great, but too few.

TrainTakeMeHome 04-07-2005 08:36 PM

No tour has been announced yet, expect to see more information on it once the new album is coming out.

It's not the number of threads about it that matters.

It's when it gets attributed to multiple news sources everywhere. Sure, MTV.com had it up there, but Blabbermouth put up that it was a joke. Plus the way that TDN and Toolband were updated, they didn't sound...serious. When Brian left Korn, the post on their site was very serious.

There hasn't been any information about any forthcoming tours yet.

We don't even know when the new album is coming out yet.

Rothmans 04-07-2005 08:48 PM
you jackass,
that was just MJK making fun of head from korn he says in a interveiw that it might have just been William Dafoe. for everyone who didnt get that he played jesus in The Last Temtation Of Christ
Why would he make fun of Head??
There is no reason to and it was only an april fool's and dont call your man a jackass he was only asking a question, yeah it may get annoying but dont get worked up about it

Too bad, do you know any good bootlegs that I could buy while waiting.

There aren't a lot of great bootlegs out if you're looking for Lateralus stuff (there's mostly 92-94 stuff out there), but there are some excellent live shows being passed around the net. The Oklahoma City 2002 show which I introduced to the forums a few days ago is amazing, and now well loved by pretty much everyone who's been lucky enough to get it.

I want it !

I must have Tool bootlegs!!

TrainTakeMeHome 04-07-2005 11:04 PM

Alright, I'll upload Part 1 of the show to YSI again overnight tonight while I'm asleep.
I'll not post the link to it till the afternoon so it's still around while you all get back from school/work, it seems that a lot of people have missed out on it because those who can access the net during those hours eat up the link. I'll upload Part 2 sometime after that.

I wouldn't say he's making fun of Head. A better way to put it is that he used the whole Head leaving Korn for Jesus thing as an inspiration for the April Fool's joke. Or, more practically, it could have just simply had nothing to do with Head and people just jumped to conclusions.

Heavier? Oh yes.

Death metal? Never.
Note that Tool said they have been influenced by Meshuggah and Fantomas. That doesn't exactly mean more sweeping epic songs with huge soundscapes. To me that means crazy screaming, mega super duper fast drumming and extremely messed up soloes. And Danny said it's more brutal.

But, you know, I've been listening to some good old Yes recently, and yeah I do think that Tool would be much better if they kept up with the awesome soundscapes and sounds.

Merkaba 04-08-2005 12:11 AM

Hey did Maynard quit tool for religion??? No way....Nooo!

just kidding. But i did just hear about it today...the guy at work was like....i was looking for you...Did you hear about this....I read it and laughed...I was like I know thats b.s. I said...even if he did...that would be his dumbazz fault. I didnt really think about it being april. I said It was probably a joke slanted at Korn...I know tool kicks korns arse and maynard is waaaayyy smarter than ...hell...whatever his name is...Jonathan....obviously. Oh I found jesus...he was under the cushions of the couch!!

mudvayne420 04-08-2005 12:19 AM

its funny seeing how people will believe anything they see"maynard found jesus." but, those who know better well we knew it wasn't true thats just not MJK. plus IMO he would probably be a hypocrit if he did

Huber 04-08-2005 01:24 AM

Maynard wouldn't let himself become a hypocrite.

horseypie 04-08-2005 03:19 AM

true true

io did fall for it tho for a moment...im an idiot...then again, maynard probs would do sumthin that stupid like go be a buddhist or a shaolin monk for kicks and ideas for da nu album

But isn't Fantomas noted for doing alot of weird ambient shit?

So

Technical Death Metal + Weird Ambience = Tool.

I'd take it.

jamesclelland 04-08-2005 09:43 AM

i hope there next album doesn't have the hooker with a *****/tick and leeches sound all the way through, but i would still buy it.
realisticly (sp?) that is what there talking about, and the heavy songs on the album are good, but i need the lateralus, patient sound too. like i said though unless they have completely lost there sound, i will still pick it up.

the2stranger 04-08-2005 09:52 AM

that doesn't really make sense to me

but I just want the new album :p

no Fantomas only really did one ambient piece, their new stuff is crazy.

Meshuggah are mad, and they just take the piss on the time signatures thing. it seems it's the only thing they can do, is have weird time signatures to their riffs.

hmmm, i just want to hear one song, to see what they're like now. i have 100% faith i'll love it, and i trust Tool. just gotta wait now.

Ticks & Leeches is one of my favorites, but I would get bored of the album if all of the songs were like it

I dont think there next album is gonna be like that it would be great but it is not.
They could be really heavy but not aggressive like opiate undertow not the heaviest albums but aggressive and lateralus is a lot more heavier than both of those album and there is only one real aggressive song.

Adam Jones is GOD 04-08-2005 02:01 PM

Heavy is such an open term really.

For example:
1) some solo acoustic artists are heavy due to their lyrics. (though its best to call it dark)
2) Then heavy is also loud for some people
3) Then there is speed.
4) Dynamics
5) Vocal styles
6) Guitar Distortion
7) Drum patterns
8) Tunings

So many ways this album could be 'heavier'. My bet is with choices 4 and 7. Though 6 and 8 might take effect too.

clearvision 04-08-2005 02:12 PM

As long as it's not 2) I'm good. By loud i suppose you mean saturated? Because all music can be loud if you turn up the volume... But saturated music is heavy on your ears whatever the volume...like meshuggah

kurrpt 04-08-2005 02:14 PM

i was in coconuts the other day (CD store) and i saw these TOoL tribute albums done in different styles of music?!?! no lie, any one see those yet?
