No and no. Megadeth only have one instrumental in the first place, and I'd say Megadeth have more variety throughout their career.
Have you heard absolution?
Megadeth was always metal, different thought, and metallica was more experimental.

RiceMonster 09-24-2005 11:20 PM
two to be exact, i think my reply was pointless, rice monster hates metallica. :upset:
Well, you had some excellent points, and a valid opinion. I don't really want to argue with you at all, since you know what you're talkign about.

I like a few Metallica songs, but other than that, I pretty much hate them and most of their annoying fans.

heavy metal kid 09-24-2005 11:22 PM
At least Risk didn't completely fail at what it tried to do.
I'm not talking about the success, i'm talking about how great musicians with such a talent make such a bad album(both bands).

clairvoyant 09-24-2005 11:24 PM

Risk = Not metal

Just listen to Crush Em and Breadline for proof.

Same. I can't listen to them without thinking about how much I hate James' voice, Lars drumming, the fact they kicked Dave out for Kirk, and that stupid Frantic music video with the car colliding with the other thing over and over again.

St. Anger tried to return Tallica to their roots. And it ended up sucking terribly.

Risk tried to make Megadeth crappy pop music, and it succeeded

I've never heard Risk is it worth listening to it just to witness how awful it is?

MAthiAS 09-24-2005 11:27 PM

I don't know, I haven't listened to it in such a long time. Someone else would be better off answering that one.

"Frantic Tick-Tick Tick-Tick-Tock"

"Pwaaaannngg Pwaaanngg! Clunk Clunk!" (That's the Trashcans, otherwise known as drums by the way)

Listen to Crush Em and Breadline if you wanna how awful it is.

Insomnia has a cool riff tho.

RiceMonster 09-24-2005 11:30 PM

Yeah, I heard Crush 'Em and I found it to be very dissapointing.

heavy metal kid 09-24-2005 11:30 PM
St. Anger tried to return Tallica to their roots. And it ended up sucking terribly.
Indeed, but the riffing was kind of thrashy, they really messed up with the structure of the songs.
Risk tried to make Megadeth crappy pop music, and it succeeded
Indeed again, Dave make comment of that stuff on the remastered albums of Youthanasia and Risk.

oh yes.

BludgeonySteve 09-24-2005 11:31 PM

Their roots are Kill em All. Fast guitar solos, generic thrash lyrics, awesome riffage. None of these traits are found on St Anger.

OMG

right now I have been listening to Megadeth a LOT more than metallica, and I like megadeth a LOT more at the moment.

Themadhatter 09-24-2005 11:34 PM

Risk rapes. I love that album. It's deff not on my Megadeth playlist, but I still listen to it. It's a solid album, just abit astray from what Megadeth always was to me. And yeah, Metallica trying to return to their roots with St Anger vs. Megadeth's return with The System Has Failed. We all know who's got metal running through their veins here.

Slapping Penguin 09-24-2005 11:34 PM

I hate Lars so much. He ruins Metallica. I listen to there soft songs eg One and Fade to Black and all you can hear is KABAM, CLINK CLUNK, POOSH POOSH
SHUT THE HELL UP LARS, JUST GET OFF THE DRUMS. He thinks if he hits the drums harder he will be better. Rust in Peace is the best. That kicks the crap out of any Metallica album.

Themadhatter 09-24-2005 11:35 PM

You are aware that Dave wrote most of that album right?

I feel the same way. But bad drummers have always been 'in'. Ringo, Lars, Meg White...

do you realize that Dave was part of Metallica?

Motorbreath is one of the thrashiest songs on KEA written by Hetfield.

BludgeonySteve 09-24-2005 11:38 PM
You are aware that Dave wrote most of that album right?
Of course. But Dave's and Metallica's roots were the same. Ride The Lightning is similar to Kill em All and that was mostly Metallica.

Haha! The girl from the White Stripes? "Thump Thump Thump ThumP" 'nuff said.

You are aware Dave was also part of Megadeth? Everyone thinks that Metallica sucked Black Album+. In my opinion, Megadeth never had a downfall other than Risk which was just slightly overlooked (in my opinion!). While Metallica was releasing The Black Album in '91, Megadeth had just released what is said to be their strongest album (RIP) with CTE on the way in less than a year.

Really though, this is coming from a totally hardcore Megadeth biased fan, so take what I say with a grain of salt. Your entitled to your opinion!

MAthiAS 09-24-2005 11:52 PM

Lol yep. I think Jack's an alright songwriter and guitarist actually...

clairvoyant 09-24-2005 11:55 PM

Load is actually a decent album. It reminds of Youthanasia somewhat.

Except for the fact that Youthanasia completely steamrolls Load.

MAthiAS 09-24-2005 11:57 PM

Lol.

actually i'm aware that Megadeth is better than Metallica.
This theme was argued on both threads(metallica and megadeth), i'm a fan of both bands also, but i recently make an observation, in the metallica thread many posters(not all) think that metallica is way better than megadeth and in this thread they think Metallica is garbage, also almost all of the megadeth fans are always comparing megadeth with metallica.

My point was, Megadeth is better than Metallica overall, but still Metallica is very near to Megadeth.

MAthiAS 09-25-2005 12:01 AM

That's a fine opinion, a lot of people agree with you, even in this thread.

But I still think that Megadeth were one of the thrash greats, and that Metallica were poor at best when compared with the rest of the thrash movement.

exactly.
Metallica wasn't a 100% thrash, they touched more technical, melodic and progressive sounds, so comparing them with the real titans of thrash wouldn't be fair.
