You may as well close this thread of his as there is already another thread by the same name which is much larger.

And if you could ban this advertiser while you're at it, it would be much appreciated :)
I'd also definitely like to see it happen. :) What are the parameters going to be (like a debut album released after 1985 or something?)
Yeah, we agreed a while back on something like that. The year we ended up with was 1988, I think. The bands discussed were Soundgarden, The Pixies, Gun N Roses, and someone else. That excludes GNR ('87) but allows Soundgarden and The Pixies (both '88). Which makes sense to me, but I can see disagreements.

I was thinking, though, whether to allow solo artists.

Maybe I should make a thread, sorting this out and getting opinions. Later, though.

I think there should be a new strict rule about Official threads that should be enforced. Mods should be only making official threads, nots users. And weren't the purpose of official threads to clean up many threads about a band? The only thread I've seen about GNR is the one we've had a while back about Chinese Democracy. And I think I've seen a few more. But the GNR thread is ridiculous, I haven't seen a GNR thread in months.

Only Mods are permitted to make official threads, it's already a rule in the rules thread.
And yes, that was their purpose to begin with, though most people seemed to have missed it.
The GNR thread will be closed as soon as a Mod notices it.

I knew it was a rule, I said "Mods SHOULD be making Official Threads". Should is kind of the key word there ;) .

Well, no more official threads are to be made.
The general feeling was that they segregate the discussion too much.
The Mods would prefer to close many threads on the same band than to have more official threads.

MalcolmYoungRock 04-07-2005 04:58 PM

Yea, what I think most of the younger members mentality is that "Oh, there's no official thread on my favorite band. And since it's my favorite band, everyone must love them"

/new thread.

I guess they think that official threads are meant for general discussion about the band, which they are, but only when the forum has an abundance of the threads.

Like the Beatles thread. Smart Ol' DeusExMachina didn't put "THE OFFICIAL BEATLES THREAD", he just called it "The Beatles". And it's successful.
