Pssh fuc.k grunge. I hate that they are considered part of that "scene" just because they emerged out of Seatles in the same time frame. They are nothing like that Nirvana shi.t. And yes, I said s.hit.
Just because you dont like something doesnt mean it is "shit"

Calling Nirvana that is kinda ignorant. I mean, I dont like their music, but they definately had extreme influence over music, and were pretty talented singwriters.

Spaceman Spiff 02-08-2005 06:20 PM
Back in their glam metal days, Alice In Chains went by the name of Alice 'N Chainz. Meanwhile, prior to forming the aforementioned band, frontman Layne Staley was a member of Sleze and was also in a group dubbed Diamond Lie with guitarist Jerry Cantrell, drummer Sean Kinney, and former band bassist Mike Starr. The latter group eventually changed their name to Alice In Chains.
Sorry but just because they had an extreme influence over music doesn't mean jack shit to me. I still don't think they are good and I don't think they brought anything great to music. Just an opinion :amaze:

I'm not disagreeing with you I'm just second guessing. Where did you find this information from?

Spaceman Spiff 02-08-2005 06:27 PM

They've got a bunch of random information about bands on there, plus I've read about them other places and seen pictures, I just can't seem to find them at the moment.

Much better. I pretty much agree with you, also, kurt kobain is hailed a "genius" for the most part, because he killed himself. They still arent shit though, even though I dont really like them :amaze:

hey you know that formula that i was fooling with yesterday? well anyway i was fooling with it again today and there was a mistake in it. it should have been
t=a+[d*(n-1)] with t=the term number that you are looking for and n=the place of the term number in the sequence

lowsound

bottlerocket 02-08-2005 08:28 PM

^ I'll check it out later...for now, I must be off! I've got lots of reading to do (60+ pages...yuck! East of Eden isn't a good book...:upset: Oh well!)

Later MX! Always a pleasure! :wave:

That formula is to find whichever term you're look for in an arithmetic sequence.
I learned that stuff a couple months ago.
I learned this way though:
tn=a+[(n-1)d]

It's just arranged a little different, and tn instead of t before the equal sign.

rybass 02-08-2005 08:30 PM

wtf?

ya man i came up with that in like 3 minutes last night, i knew that i hadn't been the first to come up with it tho:upset: hey do you know the formula for finding any number in a geometric sequence??? because i couldn't figure one out.

lowsound

Spaceman Spiff 02-08-2005 08:45 PM

I believe it is:
tn=a(r^n -1)

The -1 does not apply to the exponent, it applies to the entire r^n term.

There is a chance I am wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's right.

thanks, ill give that a try tomorrow in class.

EDIT: you could write it like this then tn=a[(r^n)-1)] if im not mistaken.

i am so addicted to coffee now that it has to be really strong for me to drink it. weak coffee makes me mad

lowsound

Spaceman Spiff 02-08-2005 09:06 PM

Actually, after rethinking it, I believe it might actually be the other way around.
tn=ar^n-1
With the -1 actually be subtracting from the n, my mistake.
So: 5, 10, 20, 40...
a=5
r=2
n=6
t6=5[2^(6-1)]
t6=5(2^5)
t6=5(32)
t6=160

Sorry about screwing it up before.
