I'll get right on that.

I have to do a spanish report. I don't want to.
I hate spanish. I'll be dead before it totally infiltrates rural NY, so I don't know why I'm bothering to take it. Gah.

and that there is the arrogance and simple mindness that every country in europe, asia, oceanaia or whatever, south american, and north american par the USA

see's in the united states. And partially britian.

Janeway 09-27-2006 03:23 PM

Yes. Now, is there any way that you could have made that more difficult to decipher?

I managed to get that you think I'm arrogant. I'm not disagreeing, but come on. I have nine more credit hours to complete. With those, I will have taken six courses of spanish, and I'll only be able to fluently communicate with mexican kindergarteners.

maniac0796 09-27-2006 03:28 PM

Basically, it's the fact that niether the USA's or britains youth see any point in learning a language because they think they'll never use it, or it doesn't apply to them because they don't know any XYZ people.

Tis hard to explain. you have to look at it from an outside point of view.

I'm not saying you're a directly arrogant, you're just in that group of youth and negative thinking that consists of millions of people.

Janeway 09-27-2006 03:33 PM

That group of youth is going to quickly be eradicated. In a decade or so, spanish is going to be introduced in primary schools. By the time kids graduate, they'll be bilingual, whether they wanted it or not.

Edit: I don't think I'm part of that group, because I'm taking it. Begrudgingly. I could just take a proficiency exam, barely pass, and then fill up the credit hours with art classes, but I'm not.

I love Dr. Acula. My band is playing a show with them in January right before my 18th birthday. Its gonna be sweet.

but it's the fact you said "i don't care about this exam because spanish people arn't going to live near me", or something to that extent, which shows you are
A. Afraid of people immigrating to your country, which, although you won't like it, is going to happen. It's already happened in western europe, and it'll soon take full force on the USA. I know you already have trouble with immigrants from mexico, but still...
B. ignorant to the fact that many countrys speak spanish.

And although you'll probably come back to me saying, "i didn't say i was ignorant to that", you never said you wern't.

Janeway 09-27-2006 04:10 PM

I'm not ignorant.

I just don't care. There's a difference.

I'm not afraid of people immigrating to the US. Infact, I welcome it. I don't like mowing the lawn, I don't like weeding my garden, I don't like cleaning my pool, I don't like washing my clothes, I don't like cleaning my house. Immigrants will do all of that for me.
The more there are, the less unpleasent work there is for me to do.

I'm not ignorant to the fact that a lot of countries speak spanish. I kind of figured that out when it was mandated that we take a foreign language in highschool.

A lot of countries speak english too. By that logic, all mexicans should speak english just like we're expected to learn spanish.

MeaninglessPhoto 09-27-2006 04:13 PM

More immigrants=Less work for Americans though and a lot of overcrowding in the schools and in subdivisons.

Janeway 09-27-2006 04:20 PM

Even if we don't have immigration, there is going to be less work because of outsourcing. There isn't a whole lot of difference between doing it in this country and doing it a few hundred thousand miles away.

Overcrowding... It's going to drive more people to rural areas.
Or we'll go underground. We'll probably make the dirty mexicans and niggerss go underground, though. It'll be really convenient for both of us, because we can feed them with our sewer content. They'll have food, and we'll have an easy, convenient way to rid ourselves of waste.

raz0r 09-27-2006 04:21 PM

Wow.

I was in one of the music rooms at school today, and I saw that the main teacher there had a coated pinstripe on the snare and a dampening ring, taped on.

It sounded worse than shit.

Sunshine 09-27-2006 04:32 PM

Damn.

I can't edit things in my FTP file on my own home computer so I have to go back to college tomorrow and hang out in the library all day catching up on homework that he'll check for "this weekend."

How bogus.

On the plus side, breathing no longer hurts and I can reach the top of the steering wheel in my car without immense pain.

Seafroggys 09-27-2006 05:14 PM

Holy crap I just had the biggest impulse buy of my life.

So I took in my mom to work today in downtown portland. Afterwards I was gonna go around looking for job applications. She told me to check out Rhythm Trader, a drum shop where I got my drums as well as several small things over the years. Of course, she fails to realize that the chances of me working there is worse then GC giving good customer service. It a ma and pa type store, the people who work there are drumming vets and at least 30-35.

So I decided to go and try out some ride cymbals, because I need to replace the Wuhan I've had since I bought my set. For over a year and a half I've been looking at a 22" A Ping Ride. I went into Rhythm Traders about a month ago, and they had the first one I've ever physically seen, but it had 6 rivets in it. When I returned today, they still had it. So I played on several rides. I like the 20" Medium Ride, but it was still a tad bit too washy (my Wuhan ride is fairly washy, so the difference would be minute). The 22" Ping Ride was alright, but it was hard to tell what one would really sound like without rivets.

However, the next ride I tried was a 21" Sultan Ride, and it was used, so it was only $199. I liked it, it was damn pingy. So one of the guys came over (same guy who sold me my set, he's probably my favorite music shop person ever, and his name is Sarge) and I asked him about the rivets. He just told me I could take them out, and it'll sound the same as it would without holes. Now I trust his word more then most peoples, so I went with it. He played both the Sultan and the Ping Ride while I stood several feet back. Boy, the Sultan Ride was damn clangy, I didn't like it from a distance. However, even with the rivets, the Ping Ride sounded awesome.

He took the Ping Ride to a set in the back so I could try it out. He taped down the rivets so it removed some, but not all of the rivetness. I rocked out for about 10 minutes, and I was liking it more and more. He came back in, told me I really had a great jam and me, asked me how long I played, etc. I told him I only came to look, but now I actually wanted to buy.

I whipped out my debit card, got the ride. Since I just bought a $270 cymbal, I didn't want to go job hunting and leave it in the car, so I went straight home. I spent an hour getting the rivets out; I didn't have a tool to cut the rivets, so I had to pry the thing that holds it on underneath in on itself, so I can force it through the hole. I finally managed, I put the ride cymbal on my set, and I played.

And I came.

I love this cymbal to death.

Review in the Equipment section soon.

That had to be one of the most interesting posts I've ever read on MX. Thank you.

Ok so I've found out that I have to submit lessons if I want to write one, but who do I submit it to?????

Awesome Froggys. The Ping ride is a great ride. I have an older model 22" Ping and I love it.

White Riot, the word Smeg Head was stuck in my head today. Usually I have a song, or a beat that's stuck in my head. But no the word Smeg Head kept repeating through my head over and over again. Same with that picture. Wtf?

You realize that I wasn't being serious?

And that you probably shouldn't take the majority of shit said on the internet even remotely seriously? And that reading is OPTIONAL. It's easy.
Simply refrain from scanning over a sentence and comprehending it.

Try it. It's easy.

MatthewMeredith 09-27-2006 05:49 PM

Someone answer me, PLEASE!!!!

If no one helps me, you all will never get the priveledge of accessing my knowledge...

So anyways, how do I get a lesson posted? Should I just post it on the D&P mainpage and hope Damo moves it to the lesson page?

Its from Red Dwarf. Smeg is a futuristic swearword. The character from the avatar is Arnold Rimmer , he is a dead hologram. The show is a british sci-fi comedy and probably one of the best comedies ever made (like most bristish comdies)

I'm sorry. Do you know what the word optional means?

op·tion·al (opsh-a-null)
adj.

Left to choice; not compulsory or automatic.

But, oh. Textual vomit. I'll take that one to heart and ram my face into band saw.

Wait, no I won't.
