Oh, last.fm I have to re-post mine in here just because its so unCR and unRock in general.

1. blink-182 - 101
2. Fall Out Boy - 61
3. The Cure - 46
4. Britney Spears - 39
5. Coheed and Cambria - 36
5. Shakira - 36
7. Hot Hot Heat - 31
8. Madonna - 30
9. The Smiths - 29

Oh boy! Looks like MTV took over my house.
I forgot to download the Deep Purple :upset: I'll just download it tonight when I go to bed. But if any one wants link just ask.
/turns off T.V. and puts on closest available vynal record.

Hot Hot Heat makes up for most of that. Britney and Shakira however... :naughty:

JonG 12-18-2005 08:12 PM

L.A. Guns

/cringe

Brian Setzer is damn good though.

Jacaranda 12-18-2005 08:13 PM
The Smiths totally make up for the Madonna and Blink-182....as for the Britney Spears and Shakira....*shakes head*
Madonna is excellent no reason why I would have to make up for her. All the others are debatable, although I think they are all ace.

Opening birthday present tonight, I'm excited almost 100% sure its a acoustic guitar. I still haven't really realized its 6 days till my birthday and 7 till christmas.

Lunch 12-18-2005 08:21 PM

I just got my dad the Last Waltz and Concert for Bangladesh DVDs. Now I can't wait to watch them on Christmas.

Illmatic 12-18-2005 08:21 PM
I feel the exact opposite. I think they were unique among the plethora of hard/arena rock bands of the 70's. I think partly because of the keyboard heavy-ness of their songs.
See, I just think that they're boring, nerdy, cheesy, Ritchie Blackmore was one of the first cheesy prog wankers...they're like Hawkwind minus most of the extended synth breaks.

JonG 12-18-2005 08:23 PM

80's metal comes into my head.. :p

Nice, I went to a Music-Go-Round store awhile ago and saw this nice Garrison acoustic guitar there. I was drawn to it because it had red strings but the sound and tone quality were just over the top. It's somewhere near $600, if my memory serves me correct...

blue3 12-18-2005 08:27 PM

I've never seen one with red strings.

I'd laugh if it was just an acoustic guitar case and it's empty inside or something.. Happy advanced birthday.

Broken Arrow 12-18-2005 08:34 PM

Maybe not for the first couple years though.

robo2448 12-18-2005 08:35 PM

I'd say JonG had the best listening week of all of us here. Very good group of bands.
Here's mine:

1 John Lennon 28
2 Roy Orbison 24
3 The Who 23
4 The Beatles 20
5 Brian Wilson 12
6 Bob Dylan 6
6 Pink Floyd 6
8 Bruce Springsteen 5
9 Simon & Garfunkel 4
9 George Harrison 4

Nice presents for your dad Lunch. I can't really get my parents great music stuff anymore because I'm much more into music than they are now. They don't have any interest in music DVD's so I usually buy them cds. But now they just ask me to burn a cd for them since they like my music tastes and I have more music than they do. So I just burn a cd of stuff that they'll like but don't own. It's pretty cool 'cause I don't have to spend money.
Maybe not for the first couple years though.
Yeah, I guess.

Lunch 12-18-2005 09:17 PM

Yea, my dad was at the Concert for Bangladesh so I thought it would be pretty cool for him. And he loves the Band as well.

Jacaranda 12-18-2005 09:23 PM

Yup, guys I was correct its a acoustic guitar. The brand is Hohner I know nothing about guitars so I dunno if its a crap one or not, I don't care much either. It's really cool looking I'll go find a picture of it. But guess what guyzzzz!!! I've already learned the intro of Stairway to Heaven. When I was thinking of a song to learn that was the good ol' cliche, it was Stairway or Nirvana. I went with Stairway :)

That's kinda what it looks like, all red like. But its a 6 string, any idea's for simple songs? Keep in mind today is the first day (more like 30 mins ago) I've ever picked up a guitar and tried to play. Simple songs.

Ugh, speaking of Christmas. When I was out today I saw some person with a shirt that said: "Happy Birthday... Jesus." Then some guy came up to her and was complementing her and saying that the "Jew's and towelys can go to hell." I just shook my head.

blue3 12-18-2005 09:33 PM

How did you learn it if you didn't have a guitar before? Good choice though.. Zeppelin > Nirvana.

http://www.tdknights.com/trea/songs/ That's a link from the guitar forum. It has 38124723 beginner songs.

A lot of that is crap. They expect a beginner drummer to play Rush songs on drums? Especially Xanadu which they included.

Glitterati 12-18-2005 11:13 PM

For a long time, I thought the concert for Bangladesh was in Bangladesh :p

On a completely unrelated note, I watched The Boondock Saints tonight. Pretty sweet.

That's an interesting list. I'm actually not familiar with this listening dealy....I'm assuming the number beside the artist means the number of songs you listened to? Did you listen to 36 different Shakira songs, or just a few/several songs over and over again? I've only heard two of her songs...does she have a lot of good songs? I've also never heard Fall Out Boy before, what are they like? I like Madonna though, I can't say I've ever listened to one of her albums in entirety...but I like all her singles.

I've listened to a lot of Beatles, Bob Dylan, and Grateful Dead over the past week or so, as well as numerous other bands/artists. How do you guys know exactly what you've listened to?

Glitterati 12-18-2005 11:29 PM
I've also never heard Fall Out Boy before, what are they like?
Pop-punk similar to Taking Back Sunday, The Used, and Hawthorne Heights.

Romencer17 12-19-2005 12:37 AM

I just tested the Stairway to Heaven backwards message... I always thought it was just a rumor, bit it really works!

Leper 12-19-2005 12:38 AM

Good lord, when I first saw that new thread about classic rock I thought the appocalypse had happened in my absence, and our beloved thread had finally gotten to big. I'm relieved to find out that's not the case, yet.

Really? What does it say?

Romencer17 12-19-2005 12:42 AM

Since you brought it up I'm listening to that song right now. It brings memories of last year, when I was all into Grateful Dead.

Romencer17 12-19-2005 12:45 AM
Really? What does it say?
Stuff like "My Sweet Satan. There was a little Satan. He'll give you give you six six six. There was a little toolshed with Satan."

If you have Sound Recorder on your computer and a mic plugged in you can record the part where he sings about the bustle in your hedgrow and the May Queen. Sound Recorder has a reverse effect.

Leper 12-19-2005 12:54 AM

That's pretty crazy stuff. I'll have to check it out.

PinkFreud 12-19-2005 12:54 AM

Leper 12-19-2005 12:58 AM
