I really have no idea what model or anything it is, (I know its kinda sad) but I've looked all over their site and I can't find it on there anywhere.

siva_chair 04-28-2005 04:53 PM

My setup is ok I guess, except the amp. I have a small Crate GLX15 amp as well as a GNX3 (which I really like, even though I haven't mastered the thing yet).

I do like my guitars though. I have an Epiphone Les Paul Studio and an Epiphone double neck 12/6 SG.

I gotta get ahold of a MIDI cable and port so I can download the GNX tones off of the digitech site.

A double neck!? Thats awesome man!
I'd die for an SG, I love those things so much, let alone a double neck :p

Magicaltroll 04-28-2005 05:04 PM

And my setup is a Vox AD50DV (Not that into it because it cant take loud volumes :\ but it sounds great at lower volumes) and a Ibanez "Destroyer" and a Boss Metalzone pedal.

I need a new guitar though... bad. It's falling apart.

It is very badass. Its an Epiphone, but almost everyone who has played one says it plays almost identically to the Gibson double-neck. Try musiciansfriend.com if you are interested. I got mine on sale.

Nah, I can't afford one right now.
But an SG has been like my dream guitar haha. And Epiphone and Gibson aren't THAT different from what I've played.

Darkness 04-28-2005 07:12 PM

I'd wish I had a double neck.... how much did yours cost? (silva_chair)

siva_chair 04-28-2005 08:35 PM
I'd wish I had a double neck.... how much did yours cost? (silva_chair)
Right around $800. Then I had to fork over another $120 for a **** case for it though.

I would say it is definitely worth it though.

Darkness 04-28-2005 08:37 PM

Cool... thanks.

siva_chair 04-28-2005 08:38 PM
Cool... thanks.
No prob.

P.S. I can't wait to hear this MX cover band. We have some very talented musicians on here and it could be very kickass. I just wish I was one of the talented ones.....

Darkness 04-28-2005 08:41 PM

^ lol Me to... I kinda suck at guitar but I'm definatly getting better... and my tone isn't Tool like at all (****...) otherwise I'd post up some of my stuff...

I'd post some stuff if I had the **** MIDI cable I need. I'm not exactly sure what MIDI cable and port I need for my GNX3 though. Anyone on here have any idea?

Darkness 04-28-2005 09:10 PM

I don't... sorry.

/has Digitech RP200 and 10 dollar computer mic

I'll record some Tool this weekend. I built this tone with my processor that sounds exactly like Jones on a lot of songs.

Instead of getting a MIDI cable, just get a mic like mine at Wal Mart. You'll probably get the same amount of quality as you would with the MIDI cable, unless you have some kind of upgraded sound card. My mic works beautifully. :D
Problems with my MG

1) The clean is ugly. Lifeless, too bassy even when i fiddle with the settings

2) It has too many techincal problems. The distortion cuts out randomly after 4 months of owning it.

3) The built in effects are basic,

4) The clean volume is 1/8 of the overdrive volume. meaning cutting in to each sound is not smooth at all.
It's here that I will tell people never to get an MG. I had these same problems with my MG50DFX. Problem number 2 became so bad after 7 months I had to return it under warranty.

Well, part of the reason I need a MIDI cable is so I can download all the tones from the digitech website on to my GNX3.

I use line in...

Line in > mic

kurrpt 04-29-2005 09:09 AM

what parameters do u use on ur RP200. I have the GNX4

Is the GNX4 really worth the extra 200 bucks as compared to the GNX3? I haven't been able to mess around with a GNX4 so I am curious as to what the major upgrades from the GNX3 are.

Depends on what you're doing.

If you have a good soundcard, I think I'd agree.

But if you don't, I disagree :p
I'm thinking about recording Stinkfist with vocals. It may happen today or it may not. I'd like to get some real drums on the backing track first, though.
Hey man, hook up with me on chat and send me what you have, I'll record the drums tracks and send them to you to layer.

it all ends up in the soundcard anyway..

So line in cuts out backing noise...

Aenima is pissing me off, my hand dies after all the hammering :(

Adam Jones is GOD 04-29-2005 11:07 AM

Its annoying playing Ænema when a non guitarist around. They accuse me ove waving to then when im doing the muted hammer on/pull of part.

clearvision 04-29-2005 11:19 AM

 Is it just a straight rythm throughout that part from the intro to the chorus? On the tabs it says it doesn't change, but i hear a change, may just be the beass/mixing though....

My hand loathes me for that part :(

The JoZ 04-29-2005 02:52 PM

Here's a bump...

I don't have an exam Monday, so I will be knocking out some Tool this weekend. Oh yeah

Darkness 04-29-2005 04:12 PM

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet...
/has Digitech RP200
I always get either a large amount of feedback (that hurts my ears like a bitch) or a really digital sound that is always either really loud or quiet... have you experienced and overcome any of these problems? mind you I have an RP100... but still.

Actually none whatsoever... So far, I am very happy with my purchase. I really like the fact that there are very few features that are similiar to other features. I mean, each different effect is unlike the next. Does the 100 come with a pedal?

Darkness 04-29-2005 08:35 PM

No... I wish it did though, but then it would be pretty much the exact same as the 200. The 80 has a pedal though. Oh and mines an RP 100 Artist.

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-29-2005 08:36 PM
what parameters do u use on ur RP200. I have the GNX4
What do you mean? I'd tell you, but what exactly do you mean by parameters

dumb is me :D

EDIT: I don't really use the pedal anyways. The reason I upgraded to the 200 was for the pedal, and I don't really use it that much. I really like the built in tuner though. It's quick and easy.

Darkness 04-29-2005 08:41 PM

Thats probably my favorite feature. I kinda bought it for the wah but after that I remembered you need the pedal to do it right... I was kinda mad...

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-29-2005 08:45 PM

Yeah. Tom Morello is the best unofficial salesman ever. I wouldn't have ever wanted to buy it if it hadn't been for his playing.

random, but true.

I also find the built in tones to be great. I can switch from a chorus tone to a solo tone in 1 second.

Darkness 04-29-2005 08:49 PM

Yeah, Morello is the reason I got into effects lol...

Yeah some of the tones I like alot, but the distortions, no matter how much I mess with the settings (I've tried everything), I still get a really... unemotional...digital sound coming out of it which I really hate compared to my amps distortion which has alot of feel and sounds 10x better. But I like having the chorus/flange/tremelo/built in tuner/all kinds of delay/drum machine and all that stuff... but theres just to many glitches that turns me off of it and makes me push it aside and just go straight into the amp.

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-29-2005 09:02 PM

Distortion+delay=my typical heavy tone

The drum machine sucks though. :-/

Anyways, what do you people use for acheiving Jones' tone?

SonorKen 04-29-2005 09:08 PM

Ok, so who all is involved with this MX project? Who is doing what? Who is coordinating everything?

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-29-2005 09:20 PM

this MX project=what?

:-/

Glad to see you posting here, Ken. :)

Darkness 04-29-2005 09:21 PM

The online tribute band thing.

BlindWriting 04-29-2005 09:23 PM

If I had Garageband, I would love to find out how to hook up my digital drum set and play some Tool songs. That would be sweet, I'd love to be able to contribute to this.

SonorKen 04-29-2005 09:43 PM

oh sorry, the on-line Tool cover band thing. I offered to put down some of the drum tracks and was curious who is organizing it. I'll need to mic in my kit when the time comes and all my mics are packed up. Lemme know a lil in advance so I can get it completly hooked up.
