Apocalyptic Raids 09-16-2006 11:44 PM

Yeah, I'm not a fan of that stuff.

Stormrider 09-16-2006 11:46 PM

Female vocalists are great...sometimes.

Listening to them now, I forgot how great Galloglass were ! I need an album of theirs eventually.

Riva 09-16-2006 11:47 PM

Yes, you do! Don't make me ban you till you buy one!

JP: Galloglass - Signs NP: Falconer - Mindtraveller

Stormrider 09-16-2006 11:50 PM

Heh, I wish I had a bunch of money so that I could get one soon. There's so much stuff that I want, that I don't know when I'll actually have a Galloglass album :(

NP Galloglass - Dragon's Revenge

Apocalyptic Raids 09-16-2006 11:54 PM

I haven't bought an album in months :(

Stormrider 09-16-2006 11:57 PM

Listening to Dungeon now

Hadn't gone through some of my power metal listenings in a long while, heheh.

Though when Christmas time comes, I'll be buying 7-8 albums, I'll try to fit a Galloglass album in there.

Riva 09-17-2006 12:01 AM

Good work.

I've been really digging the sort of minstrel aspect of songs like The Quest by Galloglass or Mindtraveller by Falconer. It's quite awesome.

Stormrider 09-17-2006 12:03 AM

Yeah ! First Galloglass song I listened to before was The Quest. It's great stuff.

NP Dungeon - Lost in the Light

EDIT: I feel a Power Metal binge coming !

NP Edguy - The Piper Never Dies

Shattered_Future 09-17-2006 11:12 AM

I love my unbelievable uber special edition copy of Heavenseeker.

I have a soft spot for female fronted bands, but there's a TON that don't know how to write their own music. After Forever and Nightwish are a bit different at writing (plus, they've been around for a longer period than most), hence why I like them so much.

Riva 09-17-2006 07:31 PM

Hehe, I love almost everything Limb Music releases. There's a label that cares about bonus stuff.

Apocalyptic Raids 09-17-2006 09:52 PM

I haven't listened to Dungeon in a long time :(

Stormrider 09-17-2006 10:07 PM

The Galloglass album that I want is not Heavenseeker though. I want the other one, which the name I can't remember right now...

I hadn't either Jono for along time, until yesterday night :D...was a great listen !

Apocalyptic Raids 09-17-2006 10:22 PM

I think I binged on them too much late last year/early this year.

Stormrider 09-17-2006 10:23 PM

I remember all your whoring heheh. Actually, I think you're the one who sent me the six song sampler that I have.

Apocalyptic Raids 09-17-2006 10:25 PM

The six song sampler (alliteration!) was Greg's. Maybe I forwarded it to you, or something.

Stormrider 09-18-2006 02:25 PM

Maybe. I'm pretty sure that was it. ah well.

NP Enslaved - Isoders Dronning

Shattered_Future 09-18-2006 03:13 PM

I overloaded myself on Sonata Arctica at the beginning of the year, and have barely listened to them since. Other than that, I've never ODed on a band.

Txus 09-18-2006 04:52 PM

How are Stratovarius live?

Riva 09-19-2006 07:45 PM

Hehe, I tend to OD on a quite a few bands. Andrew WK, The Beatles, Rhapsody... they all get a huge amount of listening, then I dump 'em for a few months.

Shadows Within 09-19-2006 07:49 PM
How are Stratovarius live?
from vids they look good but I have yet to see them :o

Apocalyptic Raids 09-19-2006 10:42 PM
Hehe, I tend to OD on a quite a few bands. Andrew WK, The Beatles, Rhapsody... they all get a huge amount of listening, then I dump 'em for a few months.
Yeah, I've done that with a few bands recently. Municipal Waste, Dungeon, AC/DC...

Riva 09-20-2006 10:08 AM

I listened to AC/DC on my comp for the first time in quite a few months. How very unaussie of me.

Dungeon always gets regular play from me.

Stoic 09-20-2006 11:39 AM

I will never understand how people can stand AC/DC's vocals (both vocalists) :-p

Tyr 09-20-2006 12:20 PM

QFT

Shattered_Future 09-20-2006 02:08 PM

It's like power metal vocals. Just more irritating.

Tyr 09-20-2006 02:11 PM

I'd say they're just irritating.

Shattered_Future 09-20-2006 02:12 PM

True, but the band would be even worse without the horrid vocals. It goes well with the philosophy...everything is basic and balls out.

Tyr 09-20-2006 02:16 PM

I don't know, I think I might enjoy the music more with better vocals. But I agree, the music is very simple.

Stoic 09-20-2006 02:22 PM

Music is not bad at all for the style they play (which is not my cup of tea of course), but the vocals are just horrid...

HahahitnRun 09-20-2006 03:03 PM

Bon Scott i liked, but Brian Johnson just goes too over the top for my taste

pate 09-20-2006 03:06 PM

I like Brian Johnson more. He reminds me of Udo from Accept...only worse.

Tyr 09-20-2006 05:20 PM

I can't stand Accept.

Riva 09-20-2006 05:46 PM

I like Udo's Accept vocals, but I think Bon Scott was better than Brian Johnson. But, nobody loves AC/DC's vocalists, it's just as Aussies we have a patriotic urge to plow through it anyway.

Tyr 09-20-2006 05:49 PM

I can get the patriotic thing, but I've actually met people who love the vocals. Crazy, if you ask me.

Riva 09-20-2006 05:51 PM

That's somewhat bizarre, yes.

More people need to know about Skyhooks. The Aussie band that paved the way to international success for all other bands, and barely anyone knows of them.

Tyr 09-20-2006 05:53 PM

You're right, I've never heard of Skyhooks. What are they like?

Riva 09-20-2006 05:58 PM

'70s classic rock, with bits of pop and punk thrown in. I'm sure you know the song Women In Uniform, famously covered by Iron Maiden. It's a Skyhooks original.

Tyr 09-20-2006 05:59 PM

Ah, that was them? In that case, I have heard them, as I've heard both versions.

Riva 09-20-2006 06:01 PM

Oh hurrah. It might have been the last time I did a big spiel and upload about them.

Captain Quentin 09-21-2006 06:26 AM

shame on you guys, how can you can AC/DC??
im with Riva, over here if you don't like AC/DC, your not Aussie :p :p
